The days lap times (probably means very little at this point) kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 1m27.104s, 31 laps Hamilton, Mercedes, 1m27.820s, 18 laps Valtteri Bottas, Williams, 1m30.082s, 7 laps Sergio Perez, Force India, 1m33.161s, 11 laps Jean-Eric Vergne, Toro Rosso, 1m36.530s, 15 laps Esteban Gutierrez, Sauber, 1m42.257s, 7 laps Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, no time, 3 laps Marcus Ericsson, Caterham, no time, 1 lap
That ant-eater nose on the Ferrari is the worst looking of the new cars. And I can't believe they let the fans vote that name in lol!
Forza Ferrari all the same!
- you obviously haven't seen the Caterham yet!!! ) )
I think the Lotus nose is legal - they've taken advantage in the subtleties in the way the FIA rules are written which define which parts of the car is "bodywork" and which part is "nose".

Mon Team Willy!!!
Yeah I forgot about the Caterham. Looks like a goblin shark!
I don't think we'll see Team's definitive aero packages until Bahrain2 or perhaps Melbourne...? but those noses are here to stay as changing them means a costly and timley visit to the FIA crash test and not many teams have the budget for that....
Yeah one of the teams (I think it was RBR?) even said this is "our first interpretation of the rules" so there will be some changes along the way. Fun times, can't wait for March!
Hmmmm, cars not sounding very nice, but apparently teams have the power turned down.
I'm excited for every F1 season, but with these new changes, this one may be one of the most interesting. (not sure about the double points rule for end of the season)
I've a feeling you see a masively different Red Bull come the Bahrain 2nd test - it's clearly a very basic car their running in Jerez - and it doesn't look they're doing any aero testing, it looks all engine installation work...
Basicaslly RB don't want to show their hand too early - remember a couple of years ago when they first came out with the floor mounted blowing exhausts? They had a picture of a standard exhuast stuck onto the side chassis of their car trying to fool people they had a standard exhaust system!!! :-?
Merc powered cars are looking strong. Lots of talk about failures this weekend. Probably over hyped, but should be fun! Had a laugh at Horner saying the Mercs could win by two laps :P
I like the sound of the engines, but the volume is not good. Interesting race. Merc obviously wasn't going to win by 2 laps but their advantage is quite obvious (speed, not reliability). As for my Ferrari boys, a little early to call it YET another pig but they have some serious performance issues. Not Lotus level issues, so at least it can always get worse!
I enjoyed the weekend. Always cool when there are major changes to the formula. Clearly not enough testing. They don't sound like cars they sound spaceships!
Apparently organizers for the Australian GP complained about the lack of noise/sexiness of the new engines.
(from article)
Australian Grand Prix organisers claim their contract may have been breached because the Formula One cars were not loud enough.
Andrew Westacott, Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) chief executive, said after the race that the rule changes had impacted on the "sexiness" of the event and as a result fans did not get what they paid. -------
I agree Rygar, the sound isn't bad...its just waaaaay too quiet.

looks great on track.

I'm alright with it, the whole care overall looks pretty good though. (but looks are subjective anyway)
and its hands down better looking than the McLarens Penis nose.

His Doctors have started the 'waking up process'

I heard a rumor the Renault engines are having to restrict running to approx 60/70% power !!!???
)
I'm hoping Felipe has a strong showing this season, the Williams seems to be in good shape.
can't wait to see kimi and Alonso battle it out.

MEN Arena 20-21/06/12
Leeds 08/07/14
Milton Keynes 11/07/14
Mexico City 28/11/15
EV London 6-7/6/17
anyway, a somewhat interesting race. Love seeing the drivers wrestle these cars around some corners (from the torque)
Red Bull apparently has been stripped of its 3rd place.
