    Yes.

Let me stress that I'm not referring to them issuing "official" boots, as I gave up on that last year.

Where/when was the announcement of this for pearl jam shows?

I couldn't go to any of the shows and am happy with the taping policy. Why? If I could go to shows in the future with the same policy, I would undoubtedly have a better experience. I am sick of people being at an Ed or PJ show for every reason under the sun except to enjoy themselves and LET OTHERS do it TOO without deferring to taping considerations or photography lighting and angles. I am not at a show so that someone else can get THE perfect sound, picture, video, etc. I want to see the show. I want to be in the moment--which is nearly impossible to do when people are falling over themselves all around you to be doing something else. Also, I really, really hate cell phones at a show. Scream about your laundry some other time, please! Stop flashing me in the eye. Thank you Ed and PJ. I hope the no recording thing continues for every show.

Like someone said earlier, they just don't think we're worthy of an explanation, ... this is a hardcore reversal on something they've prided themselves in.

I can assure you that I'm not the least bit "worried" about this and I'm sure I'll do more community service this year than you'll do in your lifetime.

Careful chosing your words and making assumptions.

Is it too hard to accept that for the Ed tour for whatever reason, the taping/photo policy was changed? Ed even said at one of the Vancouver shows he was hesitant to say certain things onstage because they'd end up on YouTube and then the whole world would hear it (something like that)...it's sad to hear him say that...sounds like it might mean he has to censor himself...And taping wasn't so much an issue pre-YouTube...and video editing and photoshopping have also changed so much in the past couple of years...try to understand what the artist is saying rather than feeling angry you're missing out or something. It seems not be be about money...

funny thing is other bands aren't acting like this

STP is coming so maybe I will give 10C "the boot"
What the hell is STP doing that isn't so high and mighty? They only reason they got together was because of money. Weiland needs money for his drug habit. See you later; go have fun with one of the worst bands in the world who completely ripped off all of the Seattle bands.

    What an ignorant statement.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever listened to Purple or Tiny Music? Both are lightyears better than Binaural or Riot Act and probably Avocado too. I'll admit Core was somewhat grungy but everything after that is unique. You can dislike them but calling them one of the worst bands in the world? Give me a break.
  • Why are you guys so quick to turn on a band you like so much? Am I happy with the policy...no, not really. I like having a few pics to remind me of a show and wouldn't mind having a boot either. But for everyone to already make the assumption that Ed has completely gone off the deep end for no apparent reason is pretty ridiculous and short sighted. Why not wait and see what's going to happen before saying all of these things? i think Ed atleast deserves some patience with this. And then, if nothing comes of it, and there's still no clear reason for it, then bitch. And bitch until your fingers fall off. And if your number is better than mine, go ahead and quit the club too.

You saying it is ignorant does not mean it isn't true. The most selfish, terrible frontman of all time. Screws every band he's involved with. Yes, I have heard those albums and they suck and do not hold a candle to anything PJ has ever done. Go to their message board; remember this board is about Pearl Jam.

So basically STP's best albums are comparable to PJ's worst?

And once again - get over your sense of entitlement...

What you seem unable to comprehend is that people can ask questions without feeling entitled.

PJ has a policy for years and years. That policy suddenly changes with no explanation, and the policy is vigorously enforced. People are simply asking why.

And PJ is a business. We are the consumers. When a business changes their offerings or policies, consumers are not asking for something for free (ie entitlements) consumers are asking why the product has changed, and providing feedback to the business.

Perhaps you need to get over your puppy love of the band.

At what point is it OK with you to ask questions?

The tour is almost over, at least one boot has surfaced and been squashed by 10C. It seems like the perfect time to ask questions.

Yea, yea. the part you quoted had nothing to do with me saying "Don't ask questions now...wait". Why? Because I said absolutely nothing along those lines. I said wait before you start to BITCH about the policy and how much Ed has sold out and how it's unfair and just his ego getting in the way...etc...etc.

I always thought the reason for no Ed taping was because of the fact that those songs are part of the movie soundtrack and movie executives weren't warming up to those songs being bootlegged. If that's not the exact reason I think the real reason is something just as simple. There's no great conspiracy being conducted.

This could be the case however Pearl Jam has released bootlegs and we freely trade many bootlegs with movie soundtrack songs on them including..

    Long Road
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
    Hard to Imagine
    Breath
    State of Love and Trust
    Man of the Hour
    Love Reign O'er Me

Whatever the reason I think it will just be for this Ed solo tour. Perhaps it's because he's playing "Arc" at these shows. That song was left off of all official boots when they did it in 2003.

Hopefully it's because they plan on releasing official boots. Anyway, I'm happy with what we get from this band. I have more than enough boots to keep me happy for a long, long time.

Exactly what policy has Pearl Jam changed? And I mean real changes that have occurred, as opposed to assumptions pulled out of the air by many here.

I am thinking changes will be coming soon. It seems like they are setting up some things anew. Just be patient in the meantime I reckon...

I do agree that it would be nice if we would get some explanations, that is for the grounded people in here :p (edit:There will always be ppl moaning about anything anyways)
They do not own us any explanation at all, it just would be nice. I can make up plenty of good reasons on my own...it just would be nice...

you cant say it isnt weird that there arent any vedder setlists or show pics up yet. when on the site itself they include into the wild as a pearl jam album.......

It is a bit weird there aren't any Ed setlists or pics but as for Into the Wild being on there, well so is Jack Irons album so not sure what your trying to say there.

Maybe he's just trying to be a bit protective of himself, after all it's his first body of work that he's put out and toured on his own, maybe he just wants to see how it goes. I also think it's kinda nice that something's a bit sacred and for the people that we're lucky to experience these shows, yet these days we all wanna piece of everything. What's wrong with them being kept under wraps a bit?

I am sure there are pictures, videos, and boots out there. I saw them being taken at the shows.

Security at Santa Cruz was far more relaxed than at Berkeley.

Personally I love my boots listen to them every day BUT I do like the fact that I was lucky enough to be at these venues and share these memories with a limited number of people.

Good for Eddie for asserting his right and taking them down.
It is the artist right to release their work how they see fit. I may wish for something different but as a fan I do not deserve or expect any explanation.

  • this is just ridiculous

and to now delete Touch Base shows where Pearl Jam stands with their fans

    (this is all about money.....)

if you want to diss all the fans for a $15.99 boot

    or a $50 picture book

we might Love PJ, but we are not dumb

Wow you are so wrong. Do you remember the 98 tour. Pearl jam has pretty much destroyed the illegal boot market, with the help of maybee 3 other bands that have folllowed their pioneering.
Its amazing how so many new fans judge things on like the last 2 tours. Illegal boots used to sell for like 50 bucks a piece with horrible sound recordings in record stores. Than the band has tryed alot of differant methods to get the sound out. I for 1 usually have always been into cds, in 2000 they were 13 a piece in cheaper stores. I baught every one. Now the digital explosion took over and they offered 2 differant kinds of options for shows on the 06 tour. So even if they are selling shows for 16 bucks that is not bad for 2 cds. People have to remember the past and stop being so selfish, adjust your standards from spoiled to average. Now the book was 50 bucks becasue they wanted a nice book, I just didnt buy it, too expensive for my standards, but I didnt hate on the band and ruin my day over it.
Between this and the band sound quality sucks posts, people need to go back and read articels and learn alittle about the bands history, before they make statements about them that make no sense.
    Sorry.

Ed doesnt support nader, Im sorry but honestly, nader dropped the ball on the goal line, he dissapeared after he lost. I would be pissed if he did. As far as selling out, when the lyrics get cheesey, than accuse him, but he still pours his heart out, and if he has changed things along the way, everyone does.
Now I kinds thought he did with comeback, but thank god they didnt release that song on radio.

They have no ticket system unless they just implanted 1, they never change their setlists, and they never get involved with good causes. Its good music horrible shows and drugs. Than they do a great dissapearing act. PJ does something for their fans ever year.

Just curious, in case I missed it, but has 10c said for sure there will never be Bootlegs? Until they do, I am not going to bash them. And if Ed did not want them done for his solo tour, that is his choice. I am pretty sure you wil be able to find boots of all the 2008 shows at some point.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
  • I have to add something to the stp post, becasue I choked on my breakfast and almost died from laughing so hard.
HOW CAN OTHER BANDS ACT LIKE THIS WHEN THEY DO NOT DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS.
Since when does stp tape their shows, they have been the same show for like the last 3 tours. They do not distribute tickets the same way.
Sure its easy for you too say stp didnt close their measage pit for boot trading, they never had 1. They also didnt even release a live album.
