The highlight for me was Pietersen dropping watson then clutching at his fingers then the ball bouncing in front of swann and him clutching at his fingers....

Well in a sense, Australia's non-inclusion of a spinner has been somewhat justified this morning. As it was either Beer or Siddle, and they chose Siddle. He was Australia's 3rd highest scorer and has been the best bowler.

Oh my fucking god, did anyone just see that vodafone ad that said "how can we give the poms more of a chance?"

And had ponting batting blindfolded. And then said "maybe this will help"

Who's fucking stupid idea was it to actually make that ad, let alone air it after punter has failed to even score anything in years and after the poms have been teaching us a lesson? In all honesty we were very lucky to win the last test, and the only thing that won it was very good bowling from 2 people. Nothing else.

Yeh, probably bat... I mean, there is 3 days left. They lead by what 350? If they get a lead of 450, 550, Australia will struggle to get that, plus if they do England still have a second innings. SO they would at most have to chase less than 100

So for those of us wake up to check what has been happening over night ... what did Ponting do to get the fine? Was it deserved? ... I'm guessing frustration played a part
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

    He was out of order....

THere was an appeal for caught behind off pietersen. Haddin was the only one who went up and was convinced that the ball hit Pietersens inside edge. He told Ponting to challenge and he did.

On replay there was a hot spot mark, but not where the ball came passed the bat (but to determine that needed a hundred more replays than what was shown). THe bat had not hit anything else so why was it there?

He went up to the umpires basically saying that there was a hot spot, how is that not out. The umpire was saying hot spot wasn't where the ball passed the bat. And Ponting was quite animated and adamant. Then he went up to the other umpire...

I guess he is just so passionate, and when he was convinced (wrongly) that he was out. And when there is so much at stake, that is what can happen...

to me thats is the low point of the ashes .he should be ashamed..

shut up ponting.your the captain you do not ever do that an umpire..and not one who's one of the best in the world.

    hang you head in shame..

good did i piss myself at that no-ball from johnson and ponting face after...

the umpires have ot got much wrong at all...and when they have the 3rd umpire has always sorted it out.

ponting is not finishing his test career the way he should.he might even get dropped for this behaviour.

Yeah, he's not going to be happy with what happened that's for sure... He will be regretting it now for sure.

Just shows how much passion, emotion and frustration he has in him. And the way he filtered these things was wrong.

I hope they don't make too much of the Ponting issue. Plenty of sportsters get themselves a bit hot under the collar over decisions and he won't be the last.

The BBC website had a new definition of MCG - Muted Cricket Ground. :D
Hope I can stay awake tonight for a reasonable amount.

Ponting has just been interviewed and he's sorry about the way he behaved. I think we need to forget it as he like a lot of sports people get over passionate about the situation. I used to play squash at a good local level, nowhere need county level but I used to lose my rag at times and I'm a fairly placid person. God knows what I 'd have been like if I played at a high level. I used to feel quite ashamed.

I think we need to concentrate on the cricket. :D

On the cricket this morning the commentators including Mark Nicholas and TOny Grieg suggested it actually was out. They said there was an angle which suggested he hit it, and that because mcg is such a big ground, that the hot spot probably did not pick up a faint edge....

Of course it does not justify what Ponting did.

Also I agree, there are so many worst things that sportsman do, if this is the worst then so be it. It's not like he is pissing in an atm (mark o'meley), getting caught with hookers (Rooney), is on drugs (insert track and field star's name here), cheating on his wife with several women (tiger woods) Pulling a gun on a team mate (Gilbert Arenas) anyway you get the picture.
