otherwise God knows what will be considered the norm. I Have no problem with new ideas, I just hate it when I see these political figures go back and forth so much you gotta wonder just WHAT IT IS they stand for? You know?
I haven't done too much individual research on them...I only know Hillary is out for me because #1, she is a woman and number 2, I do not respect her for what she put up with when her husband was in office and I can see people voting for Obama because (excuse the comparison---I am just pointing out how sick us "white folk" can be.......)he is like Tiger Woods; a fair skinned black man, (i.e.,my Greek aunts saying something like, 'you know that young fellow could pass for an Italian'. get my point? any other republicans for consideration?

get over yourself. I never asked for you to like me or respond. These threads are suppose to ask each other questions that we are grown up enough to take it that not everyone thinks like we do. I have never insulted anyone here until I have gotten so sick of the crybabies like you who can't take it when someone disagrees with them. grow up.
And Pearl Jam can probably care less about just what I or anyone else think, they have lives and are ALL adults who understand that only when we are young do we get all fired up because someone might not agree. you must really need to be agreed with for some reason.
Say what you want, do not respond if you still feel that way, but I will say just as a statement to those people I have responded to here as well as you that I am not any of those things that you have called me. I have always been humble and said that my thoughts come from my own life and never do I want nor expect to hurt anyone or judge anyone because I do not claim all of my convictions as anything more than a temporary thought that can be ripped away from me at anytime upon something else happening to me in my life that may blow me away, kick me in the shins, bring me to my knees and let me know once again.........I am nothing in the grand scope of this universe. My guess is they'll probably come out for Obama if he gets the nod, and for Nader if Hillary gets the nod, which looks to be the only way Nader would run
I don't think Ed would support R. Paul. Ed blabs on about anti-war and all that, but if he had a choice between someone who really is anti-war (Paul) and someone who pretends to be anti-war but also leans more toward socialism (see all democrats except maybe Kucinich & Gravel-maybe), he'd pick the socialism candidate.
Not that my speculation on who Ed would vote for matters, but it just seems to me that socialism is more important to Ed than the war.
For example, Noam Chomsky, a person known for his anti-war stance recently said he'd vote for Hillary over Paul. Even though Paul voted against the war and Hillary voted for it. He just can't handle Paul's solid belief in the free market.
Not that Chomsky and Vedder are the same person, but I think they share similar ideas. Just an example.0 -

Two things have shocked me in this thread:
(1) How many people on here miss overwhelmingly obvious sarcasm, and
(2) How a thread asking if Ed/PJ have publicly endorsed a candidate can be interpreted as "Who do you personally like and why... oh, and if you have any racist or sexist comments to make, please make them now.""You are everything, and everything is you. Me, you... you, me -- it's all related."0 -
I hope to Christ that they don't waste their time, any effort or money, or encourage their fans to vote for a useless third party candidate.
Look what happened last time we had one of those."If you're looking for someone to pull you out of that ditch, you're out of luck."0 -
Indian Summer wrote:Pearl Jam doesn't know shit about politics.....their ridiculous support of Ralph Nader in 2000, brought us Bush. And the whole vote for change thing didn't do much good for us either. I'd say the person they aren't supporting will win.
Ignorance!
You have zero knowledge of American politics! PJ supported someone they believed in and campaigned for him... Period.
Now...did that have an effect on the Dems vs the GOP?...somewhat...but why should they give their support to a candidate they didn't really stand behind?
Here's how it works: Find someone you believe in more than any other candidate (take the time to read up and listen to all of them). Get out and be active (volunteer or take part in intelligent conversations about why you think they are the right choice). Then make sure you get out and vote on Tuesday!
One other thing. It appears to me that the people who don't know shit about politics are the ones who voted GW in for the second time...or the liberals who couldn't get off their asses to go out vote and make a difference!
This time however...is already proving to be a different ballgame.
Yes...I am a liberal...and a patriot.
Make a difference! Get out and vote!"Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse...of my innocense, got back my inner sence, baby got it...still got it"0 -

The dislike for Clinton goes back to the late 1980s, when Kenneth Starr opened an investigation calle the Arkansas Project on the Clintons to dig up dirt on them for Republicans to use in the upcoming election (although Clinton did not run until the '92 election, he was seen as the up-and comer in the Democratic Party). This is where you get things like "Clinton murdered Vince Foster" and the crap about Whitewater, both of which are factually completely false, but are perpetuated on television or the radio daily by the likes of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.
It took Starr 8 years to get anything on Clinton, which was his false testimony given during the Paula Jones trial. He was then busted for it, and deservidly so. THe overall hatred of the Clinton's is really hard to explain. It mostly comes from the far-right, which is kinda bizarre because the Clintons are both very moderate, politically (remember, Clinton left office with an approval rating in the 70s, so most people did like him, despite the BS with Lewinsky).
This is not coming from a Clinton appologist, because I will not vote for her. If she is the nominee, i will vote 3rd party (i live in illinois, so it won't matter anyway, the state will go Dem.). All the crazyness about her bringing in socialism and whatnot is a rallying cry for opponents as well, although a quick look at her voting record and her policy proposals show that she is the most moderate candidate out there.

Wow. I think you give your fellow Americans wayyyyyy too much credit if you really think that this is why the Clintons are disliked. This is a very good explanation and seriously impressive (I mean that).
I think for a lot of Americans its the fact that Hillary is perceived as not being supportive to women who decided to make their homes their careers (remember the "I'm not some little woman standing by my man making cookies" remark)? And Bill is basically a cheating womanizer, so that makes it easy for a certain portion of the populace to hate him."If you're looking for someone to pull you out of that ditch, you're out of luck."0 -

true enough on the woman part, although i think many women then were opening up to the women in the workplace concept, and many saw it as great for equal rights. of course, can't argue with the Bill stuff, cause he made some mistakes (some big ones) with his personal life. that's an easy target, obviously.
as for me giving the American people credit...no, oposite. I think the American people are so fucking stupid that they believe any little talking point that they hear, why is why the Clinton hatred is alive and well. i think if people actually did some research, they wouldn't have to rely on sean hannity for their "news," cause they would see that he is, litterally, making shit up every night on the air. i say don't vote for Clinton, but that's cause i don't agree with her politically.6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

false. the only true "socialism" plan, if that is what we are calling it, is dennis kucinich's proposal. an acurate description would be "single-payer," where, instead of people having to spend money on insuarance (if they can afford it), everyone is covered. hillary's plan is just a hand-out to the drug companies and insurance companies, like almost all the others.6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -

what the hell, aside from a bunch of shit about ron paul, am i supposed to be looking at on that site to "educate" myself about hillary clinton's health care proposal?? plus, i don't need to educate myself on her plan. i already know what it is. i will admit that there have been many stupid ass posts from people that need educating on this thread, but i am not one of them. obviously you are on the other side of the politcal spectrum, which is fine.
and if that is a reputable website, why is ron paul writing columns for them?6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160 -
