Can LSU still win the national championship trophy if they lose?

nah. they are like the pats were when they got to the SB vs the ginas
But that was determined by a playoff format. This is just a pre-determined game. If the AP picks LSU over Bama, would it upset the BCS "formula"?

the entire college football season is kind of like a playoff. nothing is pre-determined

the giants lost to the patriots that year as well. same situation again tonight. winner take all

If the entire college football season is a playoff, then LSU won since they are the sole undefeated team and this game shouldn't even be played. :)

But seriously, let's say LSU loses by one point on a last second fluke play ... the AP isn't linked to the BCS so you could in fact have two national champs. One will have a shiny trophy from a corrupt organization and the other from the press (who at times are also know as a corrupt organization).

I'll watch it. Mainly because a few friends and I laid down some money last summer in Vegas on Alabama to win the national title.

I'll take LSU/Bama over most NFL games. The SEC is light years ahead of any other conference in college football.

Same, not watching. Plain and simple Bama had their chance, they lost, they don't deserve another shot. HOWEVER, had they beaten Ok State and say LSU beat Stanford in a "PLAYOFF" then I'd say they would have earned it. The BCS is a bunch of bullshit. Biggest scam in sports.

I didn't see anything from Murphy but I could have easily missed it. I just think they could have gotten someone that has more experience in the college level and everything else I said. I don't think they had a big pool of candidates but money talks and I think they could have gone with more experience. I am not completely opposed to this, I know next to nothing about the guy and I will obviously support him, I just find it strange.

11:30 press conference should be interesting. Definitely a really difficult situation.

i think lavar, short, and the others should shut up though. them saying they're "done" with psu is stupid and certainly isn't helping the situation...or recruiting for that matter.

speaking of recruiting...did you see that that top safety recruit commit to alabama over lsu on live tv the other night? his mom was sitting right next to him and basically ripped her son for not choosing lsu. what a fucking bitch.

Missed this the other day, Jeags. Was too wrapped up in the press conference I guess. I hear you, I wish they would have toned to down a bit, definitely did not help the situation at all. Sounds like people are at least beginning to give him a chance though, which is good news. In addition to Johnson, he's keeping Vanderlinden, which is great news and the strength coach. There are plenty of rumors out there today that Ralph Friedgen will be the offensive coordinator, I'll believe it when I see it but that would be a great addition. And Ted Roof, who I am not really familiar with as the d coordinator.

    I didn't see that. That's hilarious.

not sure if you saw this but:

I cannot believe I lost sleep to stay up and watch that shitfest. If LSU was awarded points for throwing a pass over ten yards (and that's just throwing, not completing), how many points would they have scored? Two? Three? How did they go undefeated??? :?

Punting with four minutes left when down 21??? Why not just forfeit? Why didn't the QB get yanked in the fourth quarter? Les Miles, for shame upon you.

I can't see LSU even getting to the title game if there is an eight team playoff based on what I've seen in the two games I've watched them play this year. Of course, the BCS will claim that this is still the best way to decide who is "national champion".

Although the game was a dud, it was interesting to observe Brent Musburger's semi-homoerotic admiration of The Honey Badger.

    The Honey Badger don't care!

8 quarters of play between these teams and 1 touchdown. Glad I didn't waste time last night watching this borefest.
