The problem is that if you reduce the number, there will still be pressure to reward conference champions. So while I get it cutting it back and reducing a round, the net result this year would still be a Clemson and Boise State in there and the loss of a OSU and Penn State.

That was a tongue in cheek comment, but when you say "no way", do you mean just next year or ever?    He's Huber Heights and OSU.  That means something.  Now I would prefer Vrabel be our next coach, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the Buckeyes making a run at any Ohio boy.  That means Freeman, Vrabel, Fickel or even Urban again.  The fans will not stand for another non-Ohio guy coaching the team.  We don't like it.  That's the current that really runs underneath all of the criticism of Day.

yeah, that’s true. Right now, this format needs some tweaking. I like plucky little Boise but they shouldn’t have gotten a bye and PSU shouldn’t have been given the cakewalk they got. The next round should be more competitive (with the possible exception of PSU/Boise).

I'd like the First 2 Rounds held at the Higher Seeds too.

But with the Bowls I don't see that happening.

I don't see it happening in the next 2 years, but I wouldn't rule it out ever happening for the reasons you stated. I really think he is bought into Notre Dame and they culture he has built there. This year is mostly his players. Next season will be with all his players. Don't think he underestimates the value of (hopefully) winning a Natty at ND. That may motivate him to stay there a bit longer.

Now I'm really confused.  When did this happen?  In the 4th quarter, USF missed a chip shot FG to take the lead with less than 5 minutes left.  SJSU drove down the field and attempted a FG with 4 seconds left which they missed as well.  Then we went to OT.  So I really don't recall a 4th and a foot that led to a FG.  It must have been with a ton of time left.

Not talking shit. Yes, they were on their own 14, BUT….

they probably get a foot and the game’s over.

maybe they don’t get a foot but hold USF to a FG, which happened anyway.
