Unless they get "Miami Marlined" Did you guys see that? SHOWTIME cancelled the final episode (only 7 instead of 8) because of how poor the team had performed.
I'm not a Marlins fan, but I enjoy that "inside look" in the clubhouse, the personal stories, the Ozzie Guillen sound bites...

didn't see it was cancelled. that sucks. not for me, since i don't showtime, but still...

    i enjoy these shows.
81 is now off the air

Tuesday's Hard Knocks should be extremely compelling...(especially for us die hard Dolfans)...
Monday afternoon will see 13 guys shown the door...
We will have coaches film of tonights very important Falcons game (where our last D coordinator is currently serving) _ 3rd preseason gm means a lot, even though its preseason...
We will see how the "Tannchise" will have prepared and handled the wk, the gm, the vets, receivers, etc... after the announcement...
We will see if Garrard gets traded to Arizona who is in DIRE need of a QB (gosh darn do they have issues)
Can't wait...kind of bummed only 2 left at this point...
Would like to see how the LB corp is working out with Dansby & Burnett hurting
Would also like to see the progress Pouncey, Odrick, Bess & Thomas have made since last season...
    AWRIIIIGHT MIAMI!!!!!

Tannehill looks great - through the first half
Defense - especially the DL - is nasty good
Worries: WR (maybe everybody and their uncle is right about this unit  - 7 dropped passes so far through a half) - and secondary struggling to get off the field on 3rd down
Pleased overall - especially with Ryan Tannehill's composure and play so far!

I don't think Tannehilll looked great at all. He looked exactly like a rookie playing in his third preseason game and nothing more. I think it was an enormous mistake to name Tannehill the starter. I guess I understand Philbin's thought process; we're gonna suck anyway so we might as well suck with rookie and let him take his bumps. But I think it would be much more beneficial for the WRs (and everybody else for that matter) for Moore to start the season. I know that Moore hasn't impressed that much in training camp, but I think that he'd be the lesser of two evils to begin the season. He sort of earned it with how he played in the 2nd half of last season.

I just re-watched the game and stand by Tannehill looking good...is it his fault that his receivers dropped 5 passes? Fasano dropped 3 passes - 1 for a certain TD? I don't think so...
Yes, he tends to stare down the receivers a bit and his comfort with Nenee is a tad off...His decision making was awesome (imo) for a rookie, knew when to use his legs, knew when to throw it away...his one bad pass was tipped for a pick...His accuracy will improve. he has the smarts, ability, potential and mechanics to succeed. We've seen the Matt Moore show - I'm a fan in fact - and he hasn't looked good at all in practice or in gms, especially vs 2's - we can go 6-10 w/ Moore or the same w/ Tannehill who is the future. I choose option B and think its the smartest thing this franchise has done in a long time.
2nd wk in a row against 1's that he led a 14 and 15 play, over 70 yd drive. He has poise and the game didn't seem to look too big for him.
The WR's are a big trouble spot, that is a major concern. The secondary giving up big passing plays and not getting off the field in 3rd down situations concern me WAY more than Tannehill right now.

Well to say "it's the smartest thing this franchise has done in a long time " isn't saying much for it. I mean, I get your point and I know that's where Philbin's coming from too. But I'd still prefer a 2004 Giants type of thing; start the veteran (Warner in their case), wait till things go south with him, and then go with the rookie (Manning). Or sticking with the 2004 rookie QBs, think about the Chargers that year. They drafted Rivers because Drew Brees looked like he was going to end up being a total loser. But Brees had a great year and Rivers sat for two seasons. Now I'm not saying Moore could ever be Brees. But in 2004, I would have said that Brees could never be Peyton...and now he is. I just don't like the "toss him to the wolves" mentality. If he had a great team around him (Roethlisberger in 2004), that'd be fine. If he was a freak that was truly ready to play right now (Cam Newton last year), that'd be fine. But neither of those situations are the case.

Remember Ledbetterman10, winning now, this season, is NOT the most important thing. Winning big again consistently and for many years IS what matters, and that starts with Tannehill, definitely not Matty. RT17 needs to get as good as he can be ASAP. Only one recipe for that: experience. Probably Miami will not be a playoff team this season but we can absolutely build for the future. I again re-watched that Falcons game (I know, I'm a masochist  ) and it saddened me...not because the talent discrepancy, but how that franchise had a direction and plan starting with Matt Ryan. Face it, Falcons were shit. Get the QB. Get the RB. Get the WR's and trade for a great TE. Get some good D and continue to improve the OL. Where has this plan been with our beloved, Phins, bro??? Starting RT17 is smart and realistic...he banks his experience NOW and we find out what he is and Miami gets to where we want to go sooner than later, opposed to Matty winning a few games and us knowing how that story turns out.
Will there be inconsistencies? Bad interceptions? A learning curve? Sure there will...we've needed a franchise QB for over 13 yrs since Dan the Man retired - lets find out if RT17 is that guy...(IMO, Moore is NOT nor is Garrard)
Think about it this way: if Matty was good enough would they have spent a No. 1 draft pick on Tannehill? I for one believe Matty is a serviceable QB in the NFL that can win some games. He is a Band Aid stop gap solution at this point. If RT17 sucks at least we have Matty to throw in there and see if he can replace the "magic" of last season...We don't know and can't say that RT17 isn't ready or great enough to give the Fins that shot in the arm (to the team and its fanbase) that Cam did last yr for Carolina - point: time to find out!
Besides, a rookie starting QB for Miami is the LEAST of what’s worrying me, you, the diehards, the coaching staff and the owner right now, right?
Better protection by OL, rhythm and caught balls by this ragtag group of WR's that couldn't start in the CFL & pass defense to be much better...
I'm a firm believer in QB confidence only happens w/playing time. Our Fins last won a Super Bowl in 1973 and last played in one in 1984 — our most recent playoff victory was 10 yrs ago — I'm WAY beyond playing it safe at this point...

Yeah but a bad rookie year experience can ruin a guy. Sure Aikman went 1-15 in his rookie year and came out fine. Eli lost every start in his rookie year and came out fine. But it's not that far-fetched that Tannehill can struggle mightily, lose all confidence, and be another Jamarcus Russell/JP Losman/Colt McCoy/Brady Quinn type. It happens.

What's our plan been? We've had no plan...and we'll have no plan so long as Jeff Ireland is the GM. He has no idea how to use the draft and signs/trades for other team's rejects (Reggie Bush, Ochocinco, etc) and hopes for the best. I was pleasantly surprised with Bush last year and hope he can keep it up. But face it, he's a rejected Saint.

You don't seem to get why I'm advocating for Moore to start the season. It's not because he can possibly be the "future." It's so the team can go into the season with a guy who has at least won some games. Sure he'd be lame duck just biding his time until Tannehill gets the call. But that's not really a bad thing. The "rookie QB waiting in the wings" thing can work. Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers are the best examples of that. Maybe (probably not) but maybe, Moore can be the "Band Aid stop gap solution" that you speak of. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD THING. And for you to say "If RT17 sucks at least we have Matty to throw in there" is crazy. If Tannehill is the "future", he can't be yanked out of games for a band aid guy. You have to live with him sucking if he sucks.

Newton won the Heisman and National Championship. He has the build of Roethlisberger, arm-strength of Favre, and speed/agility of Vick. To compare him to Tannehill (or RT17 as you like to call him) is ridiculous. I'm not saying Tannehill can't be good. I'm not saying that. But if you're expecting a "shot in the arm" to the fanbase this year, you're being delusional.

You're right. All that stuff is cause for concern. And it's also stuff that can make life miserable for a rookie QB.

    GO PHINS!!!

You know the saddest thing about my Dolphin fandom? By rights, I really should be a Steelers fan. My dad's a Steelers fan. He attempted to raise me to be one. But no, I chose the Dolphins because of the man-crush I had on Marino as a kid. Bummer. And my regret about this goes beyond the Steelers having a million times more success than the Dolphins over the last 20 years. Dolphins games (especially over the past decade) have been boring as hell to watch. Not only that, but by week 9 or so, every game is irrelevant because they're out of it. Even 2008 was nothing more than a lucky mirage. It took Brady's ACL tear, an amazingly weak schedule, a former Jet who throws like a girl playing out of his mind, and a gimmick offense to BARLEY make the playoffs (remember, we won the division on like the 4th tie-breaker over the Brady-less Patriots). It's just tough living being a Dolphins fan. Losing is one thing. But this franchise gives you no reason to even be confident going into the season.

Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers are the best examples of that.
EEEK - bad example my friend, Drew Brees = Future Hall of Famer (that's who Rivers sat behind) & Brett Favre = Future Hall of Famer (that's who Rodgers sat behind). Matt Moore, while good, isn't even a first ballot "Hall of Okay" guy at this point...
I don't think RT17 is the next Cam, I'm just comparing the shot in the arm a dejected fan base rec'd upon putting in a rook. Based on your thoughtful, intelligent and albeit "dejected" post, we can both use that shot in the arm, bro, no? Ya its been tuff to be a fan, but I will be one until I die - you gotta believe (even if Ireland is a flaming piece of horse pucky).
Chin up - seriously! What happened in the past is in the past. New coaches, new QB, new philosophy and new direction. A new day dawns my friend. The future starts now. And arguably, we have one of the BEST backup QB's in the league at our disposal. If the last 8 seasons have taught us anything, the 2nd stringer (and 3rd) gets in there due to injury. IF we need to get Moore in there, we'll be alright.

My point isn't about the guys ahead of Rivers and Rodgers. It's about them and how they spent their time. By most accounts, Brees and Favre were standoffish toward Rivers and Rodgers. But they still made the most of their time. I'm just saying that I think Tannehill is gonna really, really struggle this year. That's just my gut instinct. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yeah I'll sing along. I sing it in the shower almost every sunday night in the fall/winter:

    Miami has the Dolphins
    And we're really freakin' lame
We'll always choke or piss the lead away in a real big game
We're fumbling, we're throwing picks, our defense is a joke
But the stadium is beautiful for hosting Super Bowls
Cause we're the Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins and we suck.

This is not going to help our struggling secondary whatsover
Ledbetterman10, I laughed an hr ago or so when i saw your take on the Fins theme song...
Now I'm starting to memorize the words...
    WTF???
The Irsay tweets on Twitter a few days back no doubt were this? He just got on Hard Knocks this week...

Given the last 5 or so years, I'm weary of anything the Dolphins can do with a 2nd round pick. They could trade Wes Welker for one....or they can trade one for AJ Feely. Anything's possible.

The QBs wife isn't nearly as hot as Jake Long's wife.

Well tomorrow's night episode is the second to last for the season
    Should be a DOOZY
In addition to 11 other guys gonezo:
    Les Brown - CUT
    Vontae Davis - traded
Jake Long - hurt @ practice Monday
Julius Pruitt - best special teamer, cut Monday
Locker-room is questioning if this is a rebuild, apparently some vets (i.e.Dansby) upset w/ direction
Falcons "highlights" will be anything but...
I'm staying positive and hopeful, but Jeff Ireland is making me nauseous with his flippant statements...
    Go Fins!
