Was it me or was this week's episode short by a few minutes? I think HBO has given up trying to be entertaining this year. Let's just cut our losses and show the cheerleaders for all of episode 4
I seem to think about the Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban & Tony Sparano "approach" (yelling, screaming, emotional, etc...) and that got the Dolphins a whole lot of ineptitude and mediocrity...(something Buffalo & Cleveland fans can sympathize with - surely)...
I also believe the Tony Dungy & Bill Belicheck "way" (intelligence, calm demeanor) has yielded some fine results...the day and age of being Bobby Knight/Bill Parcells/drill sergeant types seems to be a thing of the past...
Yes Joe is very vanilla. Maybe to a fault, we'll see...I'll give him a season and real game situations before I label what he is (bigger picture/scope of work to judge).
Things I VERY much like about Joe:
- The very smart football people he has surrounded himself with. This is the best set of asst coaches MIA has had in a very long time...
- The idea the "leadership council" could be discussed and he has the leaders buying into his program. (Nice to see Reggie Bush initiate this, especially in the same week he gave his Heisman back)
- That he looks like Mr. Mackey from 'South Park'
If our OLINE doesn't come together - especially that right side, won't matter WHO the coach is or WHO the QB is - could be a very long season...

Boy oh boy. Someone criticizes the Fish and you have to retaliate. Kind of funny actually. He's a boring guy. ENoguh said and last nights show was a real snoozer. ANd he may have surrounded himself with a quality staff...but the team is another situation.

I love how you - (a Buffalo fan, no?) take issue with it. I saw Buffalo and Cleveland fans knock Mia's coach and add their (your) response - and frankly, the lack of championships/owning the Dolphins, etc... puzzles me as to such negative retort. This is a thread about Hard Knocks - and the team this season is Miami. Joe Philbin comes off as bland - we get it. That blandness worked in GB when he was OC and won a Super Bowl and a lot of playoff games...
You laugh about Reggie Bush's goal. Why "good luck with that?" I don't get it dude. The guy outworks everyone in that building every day. Last year, when EVERYONE scoffed at the notion he could handle a full time load, he went out and did just that, rushing for over 1000 yards behind a horrible line. Maybe he won't lead the league, but you gotta like his moxie and work ethic. If the Dolphins had more of that, we'd be in fine shape.
What makes you think Buffalo all of a sudden is going to be the best team in football? What have I missed? The signing of Mario Williams from Houston? Why after 12 seasons of playoff drought (and 1 winning record) do you think this is suddenly your year? Did New England and Miami all of a sudden move to another division or conference? Jeez man, look at the odds in Vegas - 50-1 shot of winning the Super Bowl - only Browns, Redskins, Rams and Jaguars are worse...What am I missing? Please tell me. I love your fandom, really, and i don't want to get in a tit-for-tat DS, but you're allowed to have outrageous expectations, and no-one else is? C'mon man.
I wish Buffalo good luck (except for the 2 gms we go head to head). I love it when they beat the Jets and Pats. Like Cleveland, Buffalo being good is great for the league. Impassioned fans, a fun place to play. Hope you have a great year DS1119 and you don't have a 13th straight year without playoffs...

Best part of the show was the drama built up about if they are going to cut an overhill backup offensive lineman. Oh the drama and decisions! :corn:

The Dolphins currently have 88 players in camp after Eric Steinbach retired yesterday, and they need to get down to 75 players by 4 p.m. on Monday and to 53 players by 9 p.m. next Friday.

Unless they get "Miami Marlined" Did you guys see that? SHOWTIME cancelled the final episode (only 7 instead of 8) because of how poor the team had performed.
I'm not a Marlins fan, but I enjoy that "inside look" in the clubhouse, the personal stories, the Ozzie Guillen sound bites...
