This is speculation. but i think the idea of flipping is based on buying a freshly released 2010 tour poster, waiting till it sells out, then immediately offering it up on the site.
I could be wrong but either way, if you're unsure about the legitimacy of the trade, take it into PM's.
I have no doubt that trades will always be acceptable on here. I just don't think it is fair that you can't sell a poster for the same amount as the going rate for the poster that was traded for. People intentional buy posters that they expect to increase in value in order to obtain older posters that they don't have enough cash for. They just trade instead of selling the poster first for cash like other people.
Kat's post indicates that you can't sell items for more than cost for "items marked not for resale". All the posters since 2005 when I started buying them have been marked that way, and other limited items. I would infer that you cannot sell any item marked "not for resale" when originally sold for more than the cost.
You can do what you want, as Kat said, just not on the Forums. She can't dictate what you do on eBay and if you sell them or not. She just said you are welcome to trade only, or sell for marked price. If you want more, go to eBay, easy.
Sure. But flipping is flipping. Not a big deal though. Just wanted to make a point.
so if you trade an item...whos setting the value of the items...so i can trade a benny for all the studio albums.
this is just not going to work..

If someone has Pearl Jam memorabilia they no longer want, it will be ok to offer it to fellow Ten Club members on the forums for trade or sale with certain conditions. No links to eBay auctions can be posted in messages or sigs. The policy here is meant to be fan-to-fan and personal, not to create a side business. Links will be considered spam and will be removed, with penalty for multiple or continuing problems that do not follow these guidelines.
It is never ok to flip posters, or sell illegal items (illegal bootlegs from bootleggers, items purchased marked "not for resale", homemade CDs/DVDs, etc.). Please see the Posting Guidelines and Ten Club rules to be sure you are in compliance with all site rules/legalities.
Note: Auctions benefiting legitimate charities or activist issues will be ok and should be done only after consulting the Ten Club and getting their approval. Notify us when this happens before you post to be sure we are aware. (Also note, setting up a charity to support your Bobble Head obsession is not a legitimate charity.)
Thank you!
Kat and Sea
I am not sure why everyone think they cannot sell their PJ memorabilia here on this site. You just cannot auction it here, or post links to your eBay auctions. It is really not that difficult to understand.
2 day's has pasted and nobody yet has made the move to post something or even bump their old thread of goodies they were selling, which has been happening each & everyday here. I think Kat & Sea scared them straight!

no problem at all...as ive never sold and never will..just dont understand what can and cant be sold/traded..but to say you can only sell a vinyl for what you bought it for is crazy..stuff goes up in value not just pearl jam items..i would love to be able to get lost dogs for $25...but thats not what its worth out side of this forum.
just say no selling or trading allowed in here full stop finised with..but ive but up threads asking for items is that still allowed??
It is understood that OLDER and/or rare or out of print or production memorabilia goes up in value. That being said, we are not an auction site...there are auction sites out there. Naturally it would be preferred that you love every item you have and never want to part with it because it's so special to you.
But, if someone has an item and has to part with it and asks their fellow Ten Club members 'if you're interested, send me a PM.' That's a private matter and not an auction...unless there are constant threads from the same person saying that and it looks like flipping and/or they have a side business going on. Then it's not ok. Don't do it. There will be a penalty.
It's ok to post that you're looking for an item. Given To Fly (live) is quiet right now because the band isn't on tour. Just remember what the SPIRIT OF SHARING memorabilia with your fellow Ten Club members is about. People have always been generous, sharing traded tapes, offering extras of something, even giving away extra tix when they have them. It's about our COMMUNITY here...and taking care of each other.
If you have a specific question about an item you're looking to share on the board and aren't sure about something, just write to us (Kat and Sea) and we'll let you know if you're on the right track.
Thanks! (sorry it's so long...this should cover it all)

I love that "flipping" now also consists of purchasing stuff from THE MERCH BOOTH at shows with the intent to sell it for a profit. Give me a break. I can see how they don't want people to advertise that on THIS site... but Ten Club cannot control what members or non-members buy and/or sell from the concerts which they attend in person. Kind of silly. Plus, knowing what some of us have to spend just to travel to a section of the country where Pearl Jam is actually playing... well I think we should be able to buy whatever we want with the intent to sell it from the merch booth to make up for some of the hundreds of dollars it takes us just to GET to the show!
No offense Ten Club, but isn't $35 for a t-shirt at the shows kind of its own kind of flipping?

Of course 10club can't control what member's or non-member's can do but this forum, http://community.pearljam.com/ , is for paying Pearl Jam 10club members only! If you are paying a yearly 10club membership, buying up goods @ the merchandise table & here @ the 10club goods section (and any where's else) and you're only motive for buying up all those goods is to sell, advertise & make a profit more then what you paid for it each day, week, month, year .. on an Official Pearl Jam Message Board, then yes, that is what you call flipping. If you want to sell your stuff go right ahead. Nobody got a gun to your head(s). Ever heard of advertising outside the Official Pearl Jam Message Board? Or heard of a yard sale? Buying a booth @ a flea market? On another Message Board where it's not an Official Pearl Jam CO run? Sell it on eBay or Craig List or any other means .. away from advertising on an Official Pearl Jam Paying Message Board? Cause that leads to the dark side and your 10club membership revoked.

I just wish they would sell the last tour's t-shirts. I don't get why they don't do that since all it does is create a market for it on e-bay. Every other band does this.

I'm not flipping anything. But I need to get to Bridge School. I've got several posters from shows I attended, that I was going to frame and hang and I'm kinda over the idea of that now. I don't by any means consider this flipping posters....but what is the official word? I'd like to sell them, maybe as a package, there are about ten of them, purchased over the last five years or so. Once I figure out if it's an okay thing to do then I can give more specifics. Anyone wanna clear up the rules for me? Or officially define "flipping" please?

theofficial word is this: if you put anything on Ebay without a reserve or minimum bid and let anyone know about it here on the board by creating a thread on the PORCH and you are fool-hearted enough to post a link to your Ebay auction (thus letting the market determine its true value) you will be called a flipper by various board members as well as the admin of the very site you pay money to be a part of...even if the term's definition DOES NOTmatch what you are doing......
Just put yer shit on Ebay and don't tell anyone about it here....you will still sell them for fair market value...otherwise, you may post your posters for sale in GTF on the forum and simply name your price...for now, that is not a capital crime
Now, if you would read the very first post on this very topic posted by KAT, you would see this at the bottom of it...
