Is trading a DC '06 poster and an Eddie Vedder Kenyon Hall poster that you bought from the site for a combined $60 flipping if you trade them for a '98 poster with an average price on Ebay of $400?
This is a serious question. Why can someone do this trade, but someone else can't just sell the two posters for cash and then buy the '98 poster? There are TONS of people on here who buy posters for trade bait only, but those who convert the poster to cash first (an extra step only leading to the same outcome as a trade) are ridiculed.
There is no difference with someone trading a poster they bought for $30 with a FMV of $300 for another poster, and someone selling their poster for $300 and buying a tv.0 -
This is speculation. but i think the idea of flipping is based on buying a freshly released 2010 tour poster, waiting till it sells out, then immediately offering it up on the site.
I could be wrong but either way, if you're unsure about the legitimacy of the trade, take it into PM's.0 -

I have no doubt that trades will always be acceptable on here. I just don't think it is fair that you can't sell a poster for the same amount as the going rate for the poster that was traded for. People intentional buy posters that they expect to increase in value in order to obtain older posters that they don't have enough cash for. They just trade instead of selling the poster first for cash like other people.
Kat's post indicates that you can't sell items for more than cost for "items marked not for resale". All the posters since 2005 when I started buying them have been marked that way, and other limited items. I would infer that you cannot sell any item marked "not for resale" when originally sold for more than the cost.0 -

It is never ok to flip posters, or sell illegal items (illegal bootlegs from bootleggers, items purchased marked "not for resale", homemade CDs/DVDs, etc.). Please see the Posting Guidelines and Ten Club rules to be sure you are in compliance with all site rules/legalities.

Right. You just can't sell an item for more than cost if you bought it from the website when it was marked "Not for resale".0 -

You can do what you want, as Kat said, just not on the Forums. She can't dictate what you do on eBay and if you sell them or not. She just said you are welcome to trade only, or sell for marked price. If you want more, go to eBay, easy.PJ - Sydney 1998; Sydney 2003; Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle 2006; Melbourne, Sydney 2009; Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney 2014.

It is understood that OLDER and/or rare or out of print or production memorabilia goes up in value. That being said, we are not an auction site...there are auction sites out there. Naturally it would be preferred that you love every item you have and never want to part with it because it's so special to you.
But, if someone has an item and has to part with it and asks their fellow Ten Club members 'if you're interested, send me a PM.' That's a private matter and not an auction...unless there are constant threads from the same person saying that and it looks like flipping and/or they have a side business going on. Then it's not ok. Don't do it. There will be a penalty.
It's ok to post that you're looking for an item. Given To Fly (live) is quiet right now because the band isn't on tour. Just remember what the SPIRIT OF SHARING memorabilia with your fellow Ten Club members is about. People have always been generous, sharing traded tapes, offering extras of something, even giving away extra tix when they have them. It's about our COMMUNITY here...and taking care of each other.
If you have a specific question about an item you're looking to share on the board and aren't sure about something, just write to us (Kat and Sea) and we'll let you know if you're on the right track.
Thanks! (sorry it's so long...this should cover it all)

P.S. Flipping is buying items (from Ten Club or merch booth, etc.) with the intent to resell for a profit. Don't do it. Someone outside of the U.S. asked for the definition.Falling down,...not staying down0 -

Seriously though, I think a lot of thing are a lot clearer now, so thanks for the update. And the "if you're not sure, just ask us staff members" clause seems fair enough to me...Bern - September 13, 2006
