Rudd would have had something to do with it, but labor are still in a better position now than they would have been. It is more the stupidness of the electorate in NSW and QLD who are fed up with their state governments, and take it out on the federal vote... they then wake up on sunday morning and those state governments are still there
i hereby declare my intention to vote informally in the next NSW election!2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

not a fan of the keneally govt eh?
nsw is a state in meltdown. the labor govt is incompetent and there needs to be a change. we need more trains, less new roads, a more green plan of attack... and we need someone with the balls to actually do something instead of endlessly talking about doing something. i hope ofarrell wins the next election.hear my name

FARKEN angry with em more like it
Yesterday Newcastle lost a 600 million dollar project in our CBD because our ex news reader now state member and the labor government have sat on their hands and done nothing about changing the CBDs transport options.
about 5 bloody reports / studies . public opinion fully in favour of the development and we lose it.
and now the biggest tenant in the area is pulling up stumps because of it.
yet thge stupid idiots in this town I BET still will not swing aaginst labor.

i am a labor voter who will not vote lib, but cannot vote for labor in the state election!
i cannot see the libs doing too much of a better job, basically, they are all fucked!!
i did not vote in the last state election as i was overseas, and i got fined, then they accepted my reasons, so i got off that fine. Maybe i just don't vote period, and then get the fine, and send them back the excuse "they are all fucked! why bother!"2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

Yep I do
I catch the train every day out of town. there is nobody on the trains going into town .
meanwhile we have every train and bus that runs in newcastle running up and down what we call our city centre.
nobody goes in there. its dying a slow death. meanwhile other area get infrequent bus's or none and most get no rail service. The whole thing needs to be addressed.
we have a lovely foreshore harbour but its a very narrow strip. openening up the end area to the harbour, remove at least 1 or 2 stationss. the train still goes into town , just not right to thebeachAUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE0 -

it would seem public transport is the major issue in nsw. and personally i dont see the problem. you put it where its needed to benefit the people. clearly im too much of a dreamer to be a politician.
i always liked newcastle. and i did like that the train was right there, you know. but i also know the city is dying and its a shame. if the heavy rail is ripped up and terminated at civic would that open up the foreshore enough for redevelopment?? but then again i wouldnt want any redevelopment to be so large that itd separate the city from the foreshore as the heavy rail is doing.hear my name

Im a dreamer too.
I wouldnt want any development, and actually the town planning states that land will be used on the foreshore up till Dyke point ( other side of harbour), this is where the ships berth and Wheat silos etc are . so in affect only blocking view of industry.
from Dyke piont up only the Queenswharf building and the old ferrywharf now a resteraunt is on the water. my idea would be to end the rail a bit further than civic, where the mall bus stops are and bring the parkland all the way across to hunter street.
Im a dreamer I knowAUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE0 -

Here's hoping that we do have reform in parliament and with a Left leaning ALP....... the potential is exciting. Let's hope that it happens.
Katter is a cracker... as if he was ever going to lean even slightly left??? Here's hoping for a better future... idealistic I know..... I have always been a dreamer.“The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Mark Twain0 -
thank christ for that outcome! as much as the libs will argue otherwise, it is the way the Australians voted. The majority of the swing against labor went Green, not lib/nat
exciting things can happen with this outcome, and i am looking forward to it. Some of us in North Queensland thought he might lean towards Labor.
He spent 2001 to 2007 criticising the National Party's support for dairy industry deregulation, he is not a believer in the free market (very un-coalition) and four of the six state electorates in Kennedy are Labor electorates.
Katter may be right wing, but his constituents (the people who put him where he is now) have Labor sympathies.
(By the way, I don't live in Katter's electorate and I think he's a cracker as well)

Exiting times afoot
instead of 3 year dictoators
we can see if they actually are the politicians they claim to be.
do they have the skills to form decent policy
do they have the skills to argue their case
if they are decent politicians we will have 3 years
if we go back early it shows that they are notAUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE0 -
well joe hockey says the libs will be a vigilant opposition. he also says the labor govt is an illegitimate government.
sour grapes much???
if the libs(or labor for that matter) were so good for the australian public, we would have voted accordingly. what did the libs gave us? what did labor give us? a big fuck all is what. so shut up and just do what needs to be done in the peoples best interests... without the bitching.hear my name
