Post to Chris - I was stuck up in a seat near the back but that didn't stop me having a grand time! Even though I'm a Ten Club member, I had to work hard to persuade the fiancee to come, so had to settle for a seat ... didn't stop me though! I worried for about the first 3 minutes about the peeps behind me, but after that I was on my feet ... remaining seated for 3 minutes was unnatural! Utterly brilliant show! Just fantastic, uplifting, funny, just about perfect! Always said I'd die happy if I heard Present Tense live, and there it was ... SOLAT, Leash, Jeremy, RVM ... as good as it gets!

Belfast was amazing probably enjoyed it even more than Dublin which was also fantastic.

That was great when everyone wished Brendan a happy birthday and that playing Amongst The Waves for the newly married couple. That was so sweet.

It was me and the wife Eddie dedicated Amongst the Waves to in Belfast on Wednesday night which was our wedding night.Absolutely amazing.Have been a fan from the beginning and been to a couple of shows in Dublin and Verona but never EVER thought anything like that would happen on Wednesday night.
    Still buzzing :D

Thats awesome, man. Something to remember forever! We were at the Dublin and Belfast gigs and Belfast was definitely the highlight, just hearing No Way and Present Tense made it for me. Congrats to you and your good lady :D

  • Where to start. We took a walk to the venue about 2.45 to see what was happening and it seems we missed the band by a few minutes, nevermind.

We had TC seated tickets for this one and when I picked them up I saw EAST UPPER TIER. My heart sank thinking they would be nosebleeds but when we got in I found our seats to be awesome, right over where the band came out and within screaming distance of Mike McFuckin'Cready (was was on fire).

A few beers so loosen the voice box and it was time for the show, the place was packed out. For some reason both pairs of seats either side us weren't taken, although some other (very nice) guys sat on one side but we had loads of room to rock out. The guy below me with his girlfriend was insane, he was loving every minute and he should, it was amazing.

Opening with Sometimes was fantastic, infact the whole set was fantastic, just wish I was still there, Jeremy was awesome, Leash was awesome, everything was brilliant, even Brendons 50th birthday bit! Just want to say thanks to all the people I met, sorry to the girl for my buddy knocking over your drinks (hope you got a few back!)

When the second song is Do The Evolution, you know its gonna be a good show and it SO was.

Couldn't believe I got to hear Tremor Christ and No Way  (took me ages to realise what they were playing when No Way started...doh  )

    Other highlights...
Great version of Jeremy, can't understand why they don't play it more often
Full Save it for Later tag
    The wedding story
    Ed's love story
    BoB Happy Birthday
    The rest of the setlist.....

The sound was perfect and it was such good fun dancing 'round (sometimes like a loon) with some new and some newish friends :D:D

(Only minor disappointment was the lack of variation in the Backspacer songs, saw 3 shows (Dublin, Belfast, London) and they played the same 5 BS songs)

hey valerie - great to meet you and clive again - caroline made it down and safe and sound down the front few rows - it was heavy going after DTE, Animal etc...

tremor christ was fantastic - so good to hear that in belfast - the rest of the show was amazing too - def my fav show - up there with the o2 in london last year

anyway - next year - Bristol???

Last year the European bootlegs took longer to come out than the states, probably for contractual reasons in different countries etc. In any case I suspect you'll wait as long as it takes Colin - apart from the band, you were the other stars of the show ;)

What a couple of days they were last week.

Dublin was great but the setlist in Belfast blew Dublin away IMO.

    Superb.

Agree here. Of the 3 shows I did last week, Belfast was the best for me (the others were amazing too, of course)!

What a flipping set list. And the crowd - so great, I had such a good spot all night, surrounded by cool people, no douchebags! Hello Pat et al, you guys rock.

Sometimes, Tremor Christ, Low Light, No Way, Insignificance, Present Tense, Daughter! AH!

Then SOLAT which was the first time for me, and the really touching Wasted Reprise from Ed/Boom and Betterman. Now in my Dublin response I said that show had the full SIFL tag, perhaps it was Belfast, I can't remember now.

The whole happy birthday Brendan thing was so funny and they really did treat us with a reward with Jeremy. Amazing, just so great.

My words are rubbish, but it was just one of those shows that gives you an especially amazing high afterwards - and you could really tell the band were feeling the same at the end. Jeff and Stone, you are too flipping cool.

The SIFL was Belfast ... I know as it caused a very unmanly scream from someone who will remain nameless who was stood behind me

Best PJ gig yet. Didn't think anything could better first night at Wembley in 2000. But Belfast was the bollocks.

  • I was near the front at Belfast. Good crowd, a lot more polite then the Dublin crowd where there were quite a few 'rude' people. Anyway. At the 2nd encore I turned to my left and i was stood next to a guy who I met in poland 2007. Small world sometimes.

:) indeed. its somehow a PJ show/tour habit meeting someone who you would not really expect to meet... so many stories like this happening to me...

wish ive knew everyone by names.... if the nice lady from S.F. - who we got out of their seat on the dublin-belfast train and then met again after the belfast show when i was looking for someone with a lighter - is reading this, pls PM. :)

    What a show!

Absolute highlight has to be the Jeremy/Leash combo. I thought I'd get to hear leash last year at the London O2 but it didn't happen. Just before they came out to do this encore I said to my friend I'd love to hear them play Jeremy (this was my 4th show but 1st time I heard it!) and Leash - to get them back to back was just incredible!

It was good to see a younger crowd than the last two PJ gigs I've been to in London and they seemed to lap up the new songs. It was quite funny to go mental to SOLAT with not that many around seeming to know the song.

I'd probably give that gig a tie with my first (Leeds Festival '06). London at the O2 would probably be on par but I was right at the back for that one.

The tag of Save It For Later was ace too. Don't think I knew the song although it sounded familiar. Nothing can top It's O.K. at Leeds though!

Amongst The Waves was ace too - congrats to the happy couple!
