why? i dunno. why not. it's a good thread to get away from the countless world cup threads. we are getting the cup shoved down out throat. been to yahoo's home page or sports page lately? they have scores on the front page, then go to mlb, or nba or whatever, and they sneak a world cup score line at the bottom. i didn't see them doing that for the stanley cup. put all the world cup stuff on the soccer page and call it a day.

and lets not forget espn...have they even shown a soccer match in the last 5 years? WC rolls around and they go ape shit for it.

so once again, i say F the world cup. stop shoving it down my throat on great media members.
espn has shown alota soccer since the us 02 world cup run

know what you are talking bout before you make a point

    just saying

did you miss the question mark after the espn question?

    just saying
and i was answering your question

i guess you couldn't grasp that huh. not that hard.

espn shows mls, epl, uefa, wc qualifying and college soccer
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

How many ways can you complain about a sporting event , surely you must know that you can choose not to watch or pay attention to any WC coverage no  , you should list in alphabetical order all the things that bother you about the sport ...

i made an opened minded effort to watch a game sat morning (denmark vs. green/yellow/red). i did see the skill, i did see the offense attacking. i saw a couple of shots. but after 5 minutes, i'd had enough of the ball bouncing arounnd. i came to the conclusion, that my original stance of "F the World Cup" was indeed the correct view to have.

but, if you like it, enjoy it. :D

and the offsides rule is a stupid rule. so in theory, once a team scores, couldn't the other team just have all there players stand by end line, making it impossible for the other team to make an onsides pass?

Yeah, and you know what the most watched live sporting event is? NASCAR. Just because a lot of people like something doesn't make it enjoyable to me. It's still soccer. Lame.

American Idol is the most watched TV show in the US. That certainly doesn't make it good...or watchable.

I'm not a big soccer fan, but the World Cup is a cool tourney...except for the players being marys and flopping like fish out of water every time they hit the ground

The biggest reason I can't stand it. It's track with a ball.

The only reason I'm watching is because they're shoving it down my throat left and right. Plus, I don't mind giving one month out of every 48 to some overhyped sport.

    No

no by doing this you are playing everyone onside..best thing would be stand on the 1/2 way line and not allow any balls to go though...but this is easy to get around as you would play a ball over the top of the player on the live and another player from the attacking side runs from his 1/2 and collects the ball and scores..

did i state that long. let me try again....

    team A scores.

after the score, they get possision and just boot it out of bounds by the goal they are trying to score in. all of team A players than stand by the goal of line that the ball just went out of.

team b can now not make an onsides pass since there must always be two defenders between the goal and the offense. although i guess that first pass in would be onsides.

That would be fun to see.
You can't be offside in your own half.
You can't be offside from a ball played backwards.
You can't be offside from throw ins
You can' be offside from a corner kick

So team A could all stand on the goaline that they've just kicked it over giving a goal kick. All Team B players can move up to the half way line and won't be offside. Team A will all look dick heads.

still doesn't mean that soccer is worth watching. i say, let them cherry pick. it might add some scoring to the game. or at least put in an off side lines. why punish the offense?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. "You just don't get it". :D The idea is to try and unlock the defense. Scoring a goal is very hard in football that's why when one goes in the the crowds go ballistic. If every game had a goal every 4 minutes it would lose it's appeal.

There I've said my piece. You go back to watching 11 minutes of action in a 3 hour broadcast.
    :D;)
