on any given pitch alot of things can happen, from a plunked hitter (brawl) to a towering HR. i'd rather watch a baseball game with 200+ pitches in a 3 hour window, than 7.2 shots on goal during a soccer match.

You still have a whole bunch of mofos just standing around the vast majority of the game. A lot of things can happen within any given second of a soccer match as well... well, except scoring. 8-)

now i understand soccer. it's not about goals or winning or losing, it's about all the energy that goes into running around a field for 90+ minutes. i get it know. i'm taking the afternoon off to go watch the next match.

See, it's like two sporting events in one. Players get to play, fans get to play, it's a win-win... except for the actual score which is probably a tie.

Baseball fans are the worst. :) calling every other sport boring while loving the most boring sport on earth.

when the most exciting play results in a leisurely stroll around the bases, its not an exciting sport ;)

just accept that most sports are boring unless you know them really really well.

My kids 9 year old soccer tourny this past weekend was ten times more exciting than the world cup has been. I really try to give soccer the benefit of the doubt, but its really getting out of hand here. This article has some great points....

"90 minutes of 22 guys running around, ref makes a mistake, and Germany wins."

I still love watching it though. At least there aren't any commercials.

NFL games can be excruciating - 90 minutes of commericals, 75 minutes of replays, and 12 minutes of McNabb throwing the ball into the ground. Just hope Drew Brees is playing.

Baseball and hockey are awesome, for totally different reasons.

Oh yeah, F the NBA Finals!

why do they even use a net? would it be too much to chase the ball down, 1.666667 times a game?

    I agree with everything here.

WC is cool, but I don't understand why the players have to act like such marys. When the dude from brazil started crying after he scored I almost changed the channel. This is the main reason that I can't watch soccer on a regular basis...the guys go down like there's a sniper in the stands...very annoying

That's why if you want to watch a less pussified international event, then watch the real world cup that starts next year - the rugby WC. People should definitely get on this train. Once you learn the game, it is amazing. It's still not the four major sports here in the US, but it is damn good.

i am a football player (american football). I do not like soccer as a sport... i actually hate it.
    BUT.... i enjoy anything that..
    1. I can gamble on
    2. gives me an excuse to go out drinking

world cup is ok in small doses... any other form of soccer blows

I enjoy skinny-skiing, going to bullfights on acid...
