Good Lord, I have not heard this much belly aching since I told my six kids to clean their bedrooms or we weren't going to see Indiana Jones tomorrow.
As an example, Radiohead was to play 8:30 until 11. I think they finished sometime after 12 closer to 12:30.
If you have not been to Bonnaroo; I think you will be surprised. If you are afraid of missing Phil Lesh's set, then you are not a Pearl Jam fan!
Could you sell your tickets on ebay? YES!0 -
yeah but someone pointed the main stage has a curfew.hollerman wrote:Good Lord, I have not heard this much belly aching since I told my six kids to clean their bedrooms or we weren't going to see Indiana Jones tomorrow.

if this is true, the late start means they won't be able to play longer, unlike your example..
I have a bad feeling about it, I hope I'm wrong, couldn't care less about Phil whatever (never even heard of the guy let alone his music) and I'll see Sigur Ros in Werchter anyway.0 -
I'm hoping since they "bought the farm" (hahahaha) the curfew has been set aside this year. I believe it was in the contract that no band played after 12:30 but maybe that has gone bye bye now that they own the land.
I think JJ will play an hour and a half alone, then they mix it up some. I still have a pretty good feeling all in all.Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!0 -
yeah...on respect...Sigur Ros starts at 1:00AM and I know for sure Jeff likes them...and I think Ed too...so I can see them at least trying to make that gig (I know I want to make that one)...but it'll probably depend on how things are going in front of What Stage that decides if they will play longer.Pegasus wrote::eek:
well, I hope so, I'm just fearful that by 'respect' for the other acts on the other stages they might actually stick to it..
and I'm too looking forward to meet another bunch of new people, as well as hook up with the old ones
well, on the good news front of the schedule, State Radio has 2 slots on the Friday
(after seeing them this week in London, I can't wait to see them again!).. now just got to get a ride from Nashville to Roo in time to see the first one!
dsAnd no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide

so lets make sure they don't want to leaveDarkStar wrote:yeah...on respect...Sigur Ros starts at 1:00AM and I know for sure Jeff likes them...and I think Ed too...so I can see them at least trying to make that gig (I know I want to make that one)...but it'll probably depend on how things are going in front of What Stage that decides if they will play longer.

2 hours is more than generous for this type of setting, if you wanted a longer set you should by tickets to the east coast shows
i dont get some of the thinking around here sometimes
I guess it has been said plenty but regardless of what the old b-roo website says about DMB in 05, Headliners at Bonnaroo usually have a 8:30-11:30 or 8:00-12:00 time slot. That is what people are thinking around here.
For those that haven't been, you will be so blown away by the atmosphere, people and sense of community that Pearl Jam's set will be magical regardless of 2 hours or 2 and 1/2 hours.
Finally, stick around for Sunday night and go see Widespread Panic. If you think pearl jam covers Neil Young well, you should see how Panic does it. You might just like it.'96 - 10/5

I saw this over on the Roo board:
"according to Jack Johnsons web page he will be playing a few songs with pearl jam b4 their regular set, to fill in for the allman brothers slot. "
I'm thinking maybe something like the Gorge 05, a nice 10 song set to kick things off (at the end of JJ's set) then 2 hours of mayhem during their slot, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it ;-) Anyway, just looking forward to the whole weekend, should be awesome.Manchester, TN - 2008

not sure what you mean...
Pearl Jam were the headliners at lolla last year, so it made sense to me that they closed out the festival
Esther's here and she's sick?
hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks0 -

That is a reasonable explanation - you are gonna see and Ed and Jack burn a few acoustic...followed by a 2hr PJ set. You'll get a good show - wish I was going0 -

i think that was "exaggerated"
from jack johnson's website...
"Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends Pearl Jam on the main stage Saturday night stepping into the slot vacated by the Allmans. Jack will perform beginning at sunset, to be followed by Pearl Jam's closing main stage set."buf dtw buf sce yyz tol grr yhm yyz pit yyz yyz pit bna cae aus lax lax san phl phl cle buf mke mke atl pit buf clt san lax lax gsp cae bna sea sea blq bna aus aus lga lga0 -
It stands to reason that the Jack Johnson set will morph into Pearl Jam's set, rather than having a very clear definition between the two.
That's how they're going to get more than 2 hours...I think.

I agree with this. There is no doubt the two will do something together, so I definitely wouldn't rule out an acoustic set with Jack before the 10:15 start time.rhinomagic wrote:It stands to reason that the Jack Johnson set will morph into Pearl Jam's set, rather than having a very clear definition between the two.

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all0 -
at the same time, the people that want to see PJ but are not coming here or aware of the connection would miss out on the beginning of it is they started early.rhinomagic wrote:It stands to reason that the Jack Johnson set will morph into Pearl Jam's set, rather than having a very clear definition between the two.

Sorry but running late is possible, starting early never happens...best case scenario is Ed joining Johnson for a couple of songs.0 -
Are people actually suprized that there is disappointment here???? I cant believe anyone here has the nerve to claim that we should not be disappointed bc we should have expected a 2 hr time slot since its a festival.....NO, what everyone expected was for pj to get a usual headliner time slot, so of course people are gonna be bummed.0

I don't think so. The reason I say this is not only is there 1 1/2 hours between JJ's set and PJ's set, but what about the clearing of the pit between acts?
If JJ's set morph's into PJ's set, what will happen with the pit clearing and the line? I don't think they would clear out the pit while performers are on the stage. Would all the JJ fans wind up staying in the pit for the PJ set while all the PJ fans had to stay in the line or go behind 60,000 other fans.... YIKES!
I think that Eddie will come out for a couple of songs with JJ during JJ's 90 minute set. And then PJ will play a few minutes over the 2 hrs.0 -
I wish the Allmans were gonna be @ rooLife has nothing to do with killing time.
So why be satisfied?0 -
I better get into better shape just to run between stages at Bonnaroo. Too many bands too little time.
Definitely liking the sound of Drive By Truckers to Tegan and Sara/Stephen Marley( splitting my time) to Les Claypool to The Raconteurs to Willie Nelson to Chris Rock ( leave Willie early) to Metallica to MMJ . PHEW! One heckuva Friday.
Saturday looks like Donavon Frankenreiter to Little Feat to Gogol Bordello to Cat Power ( 4:30 to 5:15) to B.B. King to a little Levon Helm to Jack Johnson to Pearl Jam to Sigur Ros.
Thankfully Broken Social Scene,Harrybu McCage x 2 sets , Aimee Mann, Death Cab, and Robert Plant and Allison Kraus looks like a relaxed Sunday.
Looking forward to meeting and hanging with many Jammers over the three days I'm there."Buy the ticket, take the ride"

Two hours is okay with me, though I don't believe they'll only two hours. I never planned on The Roo being the defining moment of my trip. The entire thirteen show run is THE highlight. The Roo is a chance to see more than 20 bands I like AND my favorite band (PJ) over three days."Buy the ticket, take the ride"

Is there going to be a webcast of any type for the bonnaroo performance?0
