Bonnaroo Schedule Released

But there's almost never 3-hours sets in Euro festivals (probably because the pits for those are another beast altogether and 3 hours straight in it would be really tough).Dercheef wrote:I think you guys have to realize that PJ actually only want to play for 2 hours. It just doesn't make sense if the Bonnaroo people wouldn't play them longer although they let others do. Same happened last year at the european festivals when the sets were only around 90-100 minutes long.
otho, 2 hours for PJ when other bands have 3-4 hours is shit.
it might be the band's choice, it's still dissapointing.0 -
I would also think that you may see the guys on stage with other acts, Eddie with MMJ and Jack Johnson as an example. They will probably go over two hours. And they are the only stage with an act during their slot....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0

I will enjoy watching this on Fuse.
After Lolla, I'm not going to jump to see PJ as a festival. Nothing like watching your favorite band off a large jumbotron, surrounded by hippies, while the actual stage is about 2.5 miles away because the crowd is so large.
BUT, as cynical as I am right now, there is a good chance I will have a last second change of heart and go anyways.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -
I'm 10000% with you on that. At lolla last year... it was just a letdown in that they had a much shorter set than a normal PJ show, the crowd sucked for the most part... just did not feel into the show much at all unless I were to have gotten there 12 hours early to rush to the front.Jason P wrote:I will enjoy watching this on Fuse.

ok so they are saying basically that Pearl Jam is bigger than Metallica- which is correct and something I've been claiming for years; however whats the deal with Widespread Panic getting that much time? I could see an argument for as to why Metallica might get that slot but Widespread Panic?0

I have been planning this trip for 5 months, and I only get 2 hours. Does Phil really need four? 3 each seems fair to me.Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. They probably got exactly what they requested. Did you really think that PJ would want to play an epic 3 hour show in front of a festival crowd?
I guarantee you that if they wanted more time they would have gotten it.0 -

If you're going to a festival just to see one band, you're gonna set yourself up for dissapointment.0 -

Widespread Panic has anchored the festival a couple of years with 2 headlining slots in '02 and '05. They played for 4 hours straight to end the festival in '05. Played 3 and 1/2 hours last year to end the festival.
I am really disappointed to see Pearl Jam with that stupid time slot. They tour with one of the biggest selection of songs to play from of any band of their calibur. They should get a 3 hour slot. I don't get it at all. If it is Pearl Jam's decision then they are fucking up a great opportunity to show an 80,000 person crowd of die hard music lovers just how great they can be. We'll see what happens.'96 - 10/5

Don't get me wrong; I am pumped to see Drive By Tuckers, Umphrey's, State Radio, Disco Biscuits, Against Me!, Ozomati, Phil, Plant & Krauss, and OAR. I have never seen any of these bands. So that will be great. However, PJ is the HEADLINER, let them play all night. This is a JAM BAND festival. Let them JAM.Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

every single headliner from 2002-2007 has been allocated at the very least a 2 1/2 hour time slot, so much for trends - bottom line, whether it was the decision of bonnaroo or pearl jam, i am very disappointed with the bare minimum 2 hour allotmentbuf dtw buf sce yyz tol grr yhm yyz pit yyz yyz pit bna cae aus lax lax san phl phl cle buf mke mke atl pit buf clt san lax lax gsp cae bna sea sea blq bna aus aus lga lga0

If this does happen, then it will become a Pearl Jam crowd. That is when we will see the stuff that we really want to hear.Chicago 6/29/98 - Nashville 8/17/00 - Cleveland 4/25/03- Chicago 6/18/03

Once again, if they wanted to JAM, they could've had as much time as they wanted. What do you want, a 10 minute Porch? 10 minute RVM? 10 minute Daughter?
They are not a "jam" band that plays for hours on end. Could they? I'm sure, but it doesn't fit their style.
This is not the fault of the Bonnaroo organizers people.0 -
What they could do is play a shorter show in Tampa to save themselves for an epic 3 hour show at bonnaroo, and then play a shorter show in columbia right afterwards so the can save their energy for the shows in the Northeast....got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0

Hopefully they don't have trouble with their gear like they did at Lolla, when they started 15-20 minutes late, and had to cut a few songs including Black and Baba I think, and Mikes sound still was messed up.words seem so out of place.

They will play more than two hours....no doubt in my mindAll I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all0 -
