i hope they go longer...no one else is goin after them on "What Stage" so hopefully Ed says:

every single headliner from 2002-2007 has been allocated at the very least a 2 1/2 hour time slot, so much for trends - bottom line, whether it was the decision of bonnaroo or pearl jam, i am very disappointed with the bare minimum 2 hour allotment

If this does happen, then it will become a Pearl Jam crowd. That is when we will see the stuff that we really want to hear.

So that will be great. However, PJ is the HEADLINER, let them play all night. This is a JAM BAND festival. Let them JAM.

Once again, if they wanted to JAM, they could've had as much time as they wanted. What do you want, a 10 minute Porch? 10 minute RVM? 10 minute Daughter?

They are not a "jam" band that plays for hours on end. Could they? I'm sure, but it doesn't fit their style.

This is not the fault of the Bonnaroo organizers people.

What they could do is play a shorter show in Tampa to save themselves for an epic 3 hour show at bonnaroo, and then play a shorter show in columbia right afterwards so the can save their energy for the shows in the Northeast.

Hopefully they don't have trouble with their gear like they did at Lolla, when they started 15-20 minutes late, and had to cut a few songs including Black and Baba I think, and Mikes sound still was messed up.
words seem so out of place.

They could play a bunch of short NE shows (tosave energy), then play an epic Alpine show on the way back to the NW.

Not too happy with PJ only getting 2 hours....Hopefully they will go over their time.

dude, give me a break, pearl jam is a headliner, of course the likes of drive by truckers and umphreys mcgee aren't getting 2 hours,
i agree, very few bands are getting more than 2 hours, but i repeat, pearl jam is a headliner, and they should have been allotted 2+ hours

wouldn't complain? They are the main headliner with half the time slut as others??? No headlineer has ever had that happen at roo before?

glad to know you think a two hour pearl jam show is a waste of money .

for the amount these tickets cost and the lack of good bands during the day- I'm very happy Im not making the drive. If I was in Tenn. already or somewhere close by it might be a different story.

  • Honestly.. Id love PJ to play at least 2 1/2 hours (and I think they will.. didn't they even go over by a few minutes at Lolla?)

The time slot they were given sucks, especially given Metallica & Phil Lesh's time slots..

however, after putting my own personal schedule together.. between Thursday & Sunday, i'm seeing 23 different awesome acts. Its gonna be a great weekend, regardless if PJ plays 25 songs or 30 songs.

Basically following PJ from Camden -> Mansfield after 'roo... so as much as the slot sucks, im not letting it bother me.

In fairness though... they need a slot longer than two hours just to make it through a couple of songs :p

how long exactly did they play at lolla??

im not too mad except i have 3 friends coming with me who will be seeing pj for the 1st time and this could make for a bad impression

I actually prefer a shorter set as the band tend to play better and harder when they play shorter.

2 hours of pj is enough I would say! Especially after seing tons of other bands the same day!

No shit- all you people getting your undies in a wad need to chill the fuck out. And those of you using the schedule to justify being glad you're not going are just falling into their own self-fulfilling prophecies. If the band wants to play over their slot, they can- no one will stop them. There's no curfew, nobody on after them, no obligation to quit because of bands on other stages...

So, IF they stick to two hours (which they won't- Lolla is proof enough of this), then it's on the band and no one else. If they're feelin' the show, and the crowd is feelin' the show, there's no telling what could happen. I mean, don't plan on another State College or anything, but I don't think 2:30 is unreasonable guess as to how long they'll be on.

Anyway, maybe PJ is only playing 2 hours because......hmmm...they're on tour? they have shows before and after 'roo. I would guess they chose a 2 hr set because they gotta rest between shows?

They will start earlier or run a bit over. No doubt about it. And you know Ed will come out and do stuff with Jack Johnson, so that should help get some extra songs out the way PJ wise.

You guys need to chill, this will be great.

you guys do understand this is a festival.....right?????

2 hours is more than generous for this type of setting, if you wanted a longer set you should by tickets to the east coast shows

i dont get some of the thinking around here sometimes

Pearl Jam is not a jam band. At all. 2 hours is plenty.

No crap. But they do play extended versions of various songs. They have played extremely long sets in the past. Just because they are not Phish doesn't mean they can't Jam. You people act like Pearl Jam plays 25 songs that are 3:30 each and never deviates from the album cut. Yes Pearl Jam isn't a Jam band, but don't tell me that they are incapable of jamming out and that they never Jam out to songs.

  • Something I just noticed..

in 2005, Dave Matthews Band was a headliner, and the time slot they were given was 8:30 - 9:30PM

however, when i check the setlist for that show..

    One Sweet World
    Too Much
    You Might Die Trying
    Pantala Naga Pampa ...>
    Rapunzel
    #40 (Tease)
    Time Of The Season
    Hello Again
    Crash Into Me
    Bartender
    Smooth Rider
    Rhyme and Reason
    Jimi Thing G1
    Hunger for the Great Light
    Two Step
    Louisiana Bayou
    All Along The Watchtower
    Encore:
    Steady As We Go
    Tripping Billies

This set had to be at LEAST 2 and a half hours.. and if DMB can do it, so can PJ. Not expecting State College or Philly 05, but at definitely more than Lollapalooza.

I'll admit I am fairly bummed at the 2 hour time slot.

I've been wanting PJ to play bonnaroo for the last 4 years, specifically because of the long time slots given to headliners at this particular festival, and to have them play for bunch of drugged up hippies! :)

I highly doubt that they will play much later than 12:15. A bunch of my fantasies just went down the toilet.
