Not too happy with PJ only getting 2 hours....Hopefully they will go over their time.

that makes no sense! MMJ has a 3 hour block, Metallica 2.5, PJ 2?
    Widespreadpanic has a bigger slot?

I am glad I didn't waste my money

I'm guessing their set time has more to do with the Allman's dropping out than Pearl Jam's genre of music

PJ is their main headliner this year...absolutely no reason to stray away from previous years...where's the three hour set Superfly?

    what a joke

glad to know you think a two hour pearl jam show is a waste of money .

That is a pretty shitty short slot to give their main headliner. I was afraid their set would be shortened when JJ was moved to Saturday. Really wish they hadn't changed that around. Couldn't they find anyone to replace ABB other than WSP who has to headline yet again?

I also hope we have some idea of who will be in the Superjam so I can know if it's worth missing some of MMJ for it. If it's a guessing game I'll have to gamble on the Superjam because I feel someone from PJ has to be in it. That's my worst conflict here. There are a couple others where I will miss parts of some sets like the Raconteurs.

Hopefully Pearl Jam plays more like 10-12:30 rather than 10:15-12:15. Plus, you know Eddie will be playing some stuff with Jack Johnson. They'll probably take that out of Jack Johnson's set rather than Pearl Jam's.

I think you guys have to realize that PJ actually only want to play for 2 hours. It just doesn't make sense if the Bonnaroo people wouldn't play them longer although they let others do. Same happened last year at the european festivals when the sets were only around 90-100 minutes long.

Why all the bitching? How often does PJ play longer than they are supposed to play- it happens all the time.

Any Pearl Jam is better than no Pearl Jam.

Sure, a two-hour set seems shorter than most of us would like. But it gives them a solid 120 minutes to rock Bonnaroo to its knees. You have to remember that the crowd won't be there to hear 50% of Lost Dogs from the PJ set. The band is going to be heavy on the better-known selections.

    DING!

im going to venture to say that it'll all start with the JJ set and PJ will probably play til 12:45ish

    either way
    its gonna ROCK

Zappa > JJ > PJ > Phil Lesh!

It's going to be a busy night on Saturday. I'm sure they will play a little longer than posted. Well, not sure but hoping. Metallica 2.5 and PJ 2. Thats just crazy talk.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

    interesting, very interesting.

I'm almost looking forward to MMJ's set after metallica more than seeing metallica.

oh, and i can't wait to see pj!

But there's almost never 3-hours sets in Euro festivals (probably because the pits for those are another beast altogether and 3 hours straight in it would be really tough).

otho, 2 hours for PJ when other bands have 3-4 hours is shit.

it might be the band's choice, it's still dissapointing.

I would also think that you may see the guys on stage with other acts, Eddie with MMJ and Jack Johnson as an example. They will probably go over two hours. And they are the only stage with an act during their slot.

I will enjoy watching this on Fuse.

After Lolla, I'm not going to jump to see PJ as a festival. Nothing like watching your favorite band off a large jumbotron, surrounded by hippies, while the actual stage is about 2.5 miles away because the crowd is so large.

BUT, as cynical as I am right now, there is a good chance I will have a last second change of heart and go anyways.

I'm 10000% with you on that. At lolla last year... it was just a letdown in that they had a much shorter set than a normal PJ show, the crowd sucked for the most part... just did not feel into the show much at all unless I were to have gotten there 12 hours early to rush to the front.

ok so they are saying basically that Pearl Jam is bigger than Metallica- which is correct and something I've been claiming for years; however whats the deal with Widespread Panic getting that much time? I could see an argument for as to why Metallica might get that slot but Widespread Panic?

I have been planning this trip for 5 months, and I only get 2 hours. Does Phil really need four? 3 each seems fair to me.

  • I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. They probably got exactly what they requested. Did you really think that PJ would want to play an epic 3 hour show in front of a festival crowd?

I guarantee you that if they wanted more time they would have gotten it.

If you're going to a festival just to see one band, you're gonna set yourself up for dissapointment.

Widespread Panic has anchored the festival a couple of years with 2 headlining slots in '02 and '05. They played for 4 hours straight to end the festival in '05. Played 3 and 1/2 hours last year to end the festival.

I am really disappointed to see Pearl Jam with that stupid time slot. They tour with one of the biggest selection of songs to play from of any band of their calibur. They should get a 3 hour slot. I don't get it at all. If it is Pearl Jam's decision then they are fucking up a great opportunity to show an 80,000 person crowd of die hard music lovers just how great they can be. We'll see what happens.

Don't get me wrong; I am pumped to see Drive By Tuckers, Umphrey's, State Radio, Disco Biscuits, Against Me!, Ozomati, Phil, Plant & Krauss, and OAR. I have never seen any of these bands. So that will be great. However, PJ is the HEADLINER, let them play all night. This is a JAM BAND festival. Let them JAM.
