Why defend poor behavior?   The Waste Management was a drunkenness problem, and not so much vile words if I recall.  Waste has an issue they need to fix.

It is possible to go to an event and not yell stuff about someone’s family.   But people drink too much or they are super immature.  Many said it made them uncomfortable as fans as well.
I agree. I have been to both and they are very different. WM definitely has a problem but vulgar harassing of golfers isn’t the problem.

NBA is a decent example. But there is far more security on the floor at an arena. And they are real security people. When you go to a PGA event it is aunt martha volunteering to police the ropes. And it is a full day commitment. Usually with a ton of corporate sponsors That means lots of bars open for 8 hours. Anyway, all I can say is that I am not surprised by the behavior, but I am certainly not defending anyone that cannot be respectful. I know how to behave on a golf course. I was a caddy at 14. But bad behavior at a NY/NJ golf venue is 100% foreseeable. I have seen it at Winged Foot, Baltusrol and Liberty courses. Less so at Shinnecock.

Sad sign of where we are as a society.  (As a collective, I know many would never do that crap.)

I am less defending the behavior and more telling the Euros, who have made their tens of millions off the American fans and tour to stop crying. You just won the Ryder cup...get on your private jet and take the 2 hour flight HOME to Jupiter and go celebrate at Tiger's restaurant.
I don’t think they’re “crying,” cliffy. That shit was out of line. it’s golf; it’s supposed to be a gentleman’s game.

not a fan of JT, but I read he was actually trying to get the morons to behave decently.

Yeah, instead of focusing on his game he is spending his energy and thought babysitting drunk New Yorkers.

For sure.  Most of the Euros went to college in the US and have lived in the US for 30-40% of their life.
