I agree. I have been to both and they are very different. WM definitely has a problem but vulgar harassing of golfers isn’t the problem.

NBA is a decent example. But there is far more security on the floor at an arena. And they are real security people. When you go to a PGA event it is aunt martha volunteering to police the ropes. And it is a full day commitment. Usually with a ton of corporate sponsors That means lots of bars open for 8 hours. Anyway, all I can say is that I am not surprised by the behavior, but I am certainly not defending anyone that cannot be respectful. I know how to behave on a golf course. I was a caddy at 14. But bad behavior at a NY/NJ golf venue is 100% foreseeable. I have seen it at Winged Foot, Baltusrol and Liberty courses. Less so at Shinnecock.

I am less defending the behavior and more telling the Euros, who have made their tens of millions off the American fans and tour to stop crying. You just won the Ryder cup...get on your private jet and take the 2 hour flight HOME to Jupiter and go celebrate at Tiger's restaurant.

Agree that Rory shouldn't have cursed like that. But to his defense, he is in a highly pressured situation with thousands of people following his group and hundreds yelling horrible things to him. He's got a better excuse than a loser in the crowd that may have drunk too much or just acts terribly sober as well.

Does anyone here think Tiger would be a good Ryder Cup captain? Maybe he isn't as intimidating now that he can't compete anymore, and he has seemed to be gravitating towards the elder statesmen role, but my gut reaction is that he wouldn't be a good captain. He didn't seem to play well with others for so long into his career.

Anybody ever got on the Old Course at St. Andrews using the singles ballot? I booked a trip for July 2026 and focused the golf trip on other areas, and left three days at the end to try for the ballot. If don't get selected, will hangout in St. Andrews one day, and then sightsee around Edinburgh. Maybe play the New Course. Have 12 rounds booked already so leaving the St. Andrews/East Lothian for hopefully a return visit.
