Had a wonderful time in Hartford. Flight up was gorgeous, flew like a bird right up the Atlantic seaboard on a clear morning. I love to fly!
We had a great hotel, the Hilton took care of us so nice for our 29th anniversary, extra treats, perks and so very thoughtful. Met wonderful fans both evenings, really the very best part of travel and PJ. The preparty was awesome! Thank you!
10C, thank you, for some of the best seats we've ever had. Great view! You take very good care of us.
Pearl Jam never disappoints, always giving their all. It's the constant that makes them great.
I have a few songs that still remain elusive but I am forever hopeful and not going anywhere anytime soon, hopefully ;) so someday I will hear Alone, Marker & Once :)
Thank you Eddie for the beautiful words, I believe just before Nothingman, about lasting relationships. Whether intended or not my husband and I took them to heart, a moment on our day, both very special.
So thanks all and we will be patiently waiting to do it all again! So West coast when??

  • While this show didn't have the best setlist i've seen, i certainly have seen worse.. and the band and crowd more than made up for it.

While on my way from NYC to Hartford, we recieved a phone call that one of our close friends was killed in a car accident on the highway about 45 minutes earlier. The show was bittersweet, but we needed it more than anything else.

Thank you Eddie, Mike, Stone, Boom, Matt and Jeff for helping me get through, and for an amazing show.

Like I said, the setlist wasn't AMAZING per se, but had enough of my favorites (Nothingman, I Got Shit, Low Light, Indifference, Speed Of Sound)

I know i'll get some stellar setlists with the next 4 shows im doing, but last night was exactily what I needed it to be.

RIP Drew. "We all walk the long road..."
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have

in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...

one with the raging wind, alive on the highest tides, my ship at sail can climb a mountain.. ride it to the sky

I was on the floor and my buddy and I were commenting that Mike's guitar was turned down because his solo's seemed really distant sound wise. They must have noticed as well because during the first encore, his guitar was sounding great. Other than that, the band sounded GREAT!!!!

Did anyone stay the Residence Inn in Hartford. Chatted briefly with a guy while exiting the plane from Hartford. He said he saw Eddie eatting at the Residence Inn restaurant. Did any lucky bastards here, get to see him?

in my opinion, not a great show and not a bad show. all in all, there were some songs that I would have liked to hear but I'll take what we got last night. I had been joking with my friends for the last 2-3 weeks that I was going to win the ticket lottery, and to my delight, i did!

    i got section 3 row k, which was 10th row i believe.

good times in hartford and now looking forward to boston tomorrow night.

How could you win the lottery and NOT THINK IT WAS A GREAT SHOW! If I won the lottery, I would be so excited, I wouldn't care what they played or who was around me!

Great Show!! I was really glad to hear Nothingman and State of Love and Trust. I like the venue better than the meadows. I thought the Van Halen cover was AWESOME but the Watchtower cover was a bit soft. I thought the crowd was great and the band really fed off the energy.

I don't remember what song it was (maybe Even Flow) but during the main set I remember Mike going over to his Savage during a solo and turning it up a decent bit. His solos were really jumping out where we were (sec 103) the rest of the show.

Stone on the other hand I couldn't hear so well, possibly because we were on Mike's side.

    +1....

I was on the floor in front of Stone ..
Mikey's guiatar was dropping in and out during most of the main set... could barely hear him during Even flow..

Yeah same here. I was in section 117 in the first row, Stone's side, and I can tell Mike was killing the solo in Even Flow and we could barely hear it where I was sitting. Hopefully the boot will bring up the volume of his guitar.

i would have traded the lottery tickets for a different setlist, but thats just my opinion. i've seen some stellar shows over the years and this one didn't crack the top ten. for me, its not where i sit that makes or breaks a show. i've had so-so seats before and thought the show was spectacular. people are here put too much stock in wher their seats are instead of relaxing and enjoying the show.

like i said, not a great show and definitely not a bad show by any means.

It was awesome. (Is a PJ show ever not?) As I mentioned much earlier, we were lucky enough to win lottery and were on front row on Stone's side. (Next to a friendly Australian girl, who I wish I'd gotten the name of!) This was a wonderful random setlist. So much unexpectedness, in terms of song choice, and order. I'm at the point where the setlist takes back seat, though, to just listening to these guys play. Sometimes I have to just close my eyes and take in the rich sound, and despite being on the rail found myself doing that at times.

I liked PJ's version of the VH song better. Was delighted with Watchtower. Lukin is really fun to sing along to, on front row.

We cheered Stone a lot and he smiled at us. He's fun to watch up close with his playing.

Boom looked SO happy doing his Crazy Mary solo.

Mike must have thrown out handfuls of picks. He came to our side at the end of Porch and threw out so many that people including us were making sure others around us got one and it appeared that pretty much everyone did!

I was hoping someone would mention this. That was absolutely mind-blowing.

-The show was incredible and the crowd was definitely good as people mentioned...although Eddie originally tried to get the crowd to sing a different part on the Daughter tag ('mother heal me'), but we couldn't handle it. :P It was a very quiet, mumbled return. So he gave us the typical "Ehh"s and definitely got the response he was looking for.
-I love when concerts help you rediscover love for songs you lost touch with after hearing so many times. This was Dissident and Jeremy for me last night. Such powerful versions of both.
    -Indifference gave me chills.
-Satan's Bed is perhaps the greatest PJ song to be watching Eddie.

A couple of observations about this show from the 12th row, Stoneside:

    1) There was an impressive energy in the crowd, and the band clearly noticed it. When the band went offstage after the first encore, the crowd was as loud in calling for a second encore as I can remember ever hearing it in 38 shows.

    2) Sometimes, when Pearl Jam plays a rare live track, the idea is better than the execution. Often, this is because Eddie has trouble remembering the lyrics to songs they play infrequently. Last night, on two rare songs, Eddie was clearly reading from his notebook on the stage in front of him and, as a result, he nailed the lyrics and the renditions of the songs were stellar. I'm talking about "Satan's Bed" (just a really enthusiastic and committed performance, ironically so given that, since he wrote it, Eddie married a model) and "Low Light."

    3) In the past, shows in Hartford have always seemed a little perfunctory and by the numbers. The surprises and energy seemed to be saved for Boston. Last night was different.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

I dont get how anyone can complain about a PJ setlist? The songs they played were amazing. They mixed past hits with rarities like Satans bed, Nothingman and Lukin. They can only play 25-30 songs a night so they cant play everything. I loved the beginning esp as they hit us with a bunch of high energy songs right off the bat really setting the mode for the night. The setlist snobs need to let go and just enjoy the show :lol:

No and no fences knocked down either!

I"m still in a daze. After the show it all runs together, and then I read everyone else's comments and keep going oh yeah that happened! LIke the guy who says Ed's great to watch during Satan's Bed - he really does love to sing that. Overall Ed just seemed like he was in a great mood for the whole night.

edit - No one mentioned Cow guy yet - we saw him standing outside a bar before the show, and then on the first side section on Mike's side. A fixture of the Northeast to be sure.
