Just curious, did Ed say anything in regards to the contrast in crowds from D.C. to Hartford?

What a great show. I was hoping for a different opener ( I hate when they open with songs that can be played at any point in a setlist) like Hard To Imagine would have been awesome or Wash. Anyway, I finally got Indifference and Lukin and SOLAT for the 2nd time. Ain't Talkin Bout Love was awesome, just a great show.

No mention of D.C., but he did say something along the lines of he wishes all the family could be in attendance of shows like Hartford so they could see how great things are or something to that effect.

I was just curious because of all the talk about the D.C. show being a shit crowd. I was at the D.C. (Bristow) show rocking my ass off, as were some others, but I'm in agreement that the crowd there could have been a little better overall.

Anyway, this is the Hartford thread, and it sounds like you guys had an awesome time! (really, can you not have a great time at a PJ show?) congrats to all of you that were there!

Fucking amazing. Tonight was straight up awesome. The setlist and the crowd were both incredible. Like someone else previously mentioned, it felt like a fuckin religious experience in there. It was just insane.

    Opening: Band Of Horses

Set List: Unthought Known, Corduroy, Do The Evolution, Got Some, Severed Hand, Dissident, Low Light, Amongst The Waves, Even Flow, Nothingman, Johnny Guitar, I Got Shit, Jeremy, Daughter/WMA, Satan's Bed, Lukin, Gonna See My Friend

1st encore: (Dan Perkin’s AKA “Tom Tomorrow” comes out on stage), Just Breathe (Dedicated to Dan and his family), Speed of Sound, State of Love and Trust, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (Van Halen) Dedicated to the University of Connecticut “UConn” Huskies NCAA Woman’s basketball team, Porch

2nd encore: The Fixer-Dedicated to Jennifer Jaff, Crazy Mary, Alive, Indifference - Ed discusses JP Hero charity for Haiti and Sean Penn, All Along The Watchtower with Ben Bridwell from “Band Of Horses”- (Dylan)

what an amazing show...hartford 08 was special b/c of the setlist. hartford 10 was special b/c of setlist and energy inside the XL Center tonite. It felt more intimate than MSG if that's possible but maybe thats b/c I had Section 4 Floor Row 3 Seat 1-2 10C tix!!! Corduroy>DTE>Got Some was an amazing trio of songs that just got everybody amped and the guys were too...it was so fuckin' loud in there. It was sweet to hear Low Light while something was getting passed around. At some point either before or after Nothingman (which will be greatest song on this boot...thats all im going to say) the crowd gave the boys a screaming ovation that caused them to stop playing and actually smile...this wasnt any normal cheer after a song that last 30 seconds - this lasted at least two min. It was an amazing feeling to be 25 rows away from the stage on stone's side just taking that all in + the song. I Got Shit was sweeeet, Lukin was tasty, and Satan's Bed was LOUD.

First encore nothing special until AIN'T TALKIN' 'BOUT LOVE (in its entirety - Mike solos sounded exactly like Eddie VH it was so amazing) That got my blood pumping as I was rocking out with everybody else that new 100% of the words. 2nd encore was sort of the same tho good jams on Crazy Mary & Alive...when Jeff sat down with the bass I know Indifference was dropping which was sweet. That was 11pm - Eddie decides to play one more w/BOH dude - all along the watchtower - game. set. match. poster is sicccc too btw - chea hampton

    What an amazing show
I pulled front row center seats at the box office, Eddie threw me a pick and my wife got handed a signed album by the guy that did the artwork
I'm not sure it can ever get any better than this night, but I'm going to keep trying

what can you say, another amazing night, great energy. Seemed the band really fed into it. Eddie seemed very animated during Satans Bed

anybody else think that before Aint Talkin Bout Love when Ed gave the O T O T O thing, One Time One Time Only....that Whale Song was coming, being in Hartford and all

Excellent show. Loved it beginning to end. Band's energy was phenomenal, and they were tight and loud. Really psyched to hear Low Light, Nothingman, I Got Shit, Satan's Bed, Lukin(believe it or not, my first ever, after 12 years of attending PJ shows!), Indifference(also my first)... Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love was sick, with McCready soloing in authentic EVH style, tapping the fretboard like a madman. Would have liked to have seen more love for my two favorite albums(No Code only got Lukin, Binaural got nothing), but i'm not complaining. (on a side note, nothing from Riot Act, either)

My only show from this tour, as money is tight right now, but it was a great one!

That's exactly what i said to my friend, and we both laughed at the thought. When Ed was talking about Jennifer Jaff, i also said to my friend, "Watch them play her Crazy Mary!" We laughed, and they played The Fixer... followed by Crazy Mary!

Is it just me or does the poster smell like it just got printed?

yes...mine (as im sure many others too) had the image printed in reverse on the back so the ink was def wet. I also noticed a slightly bent BRHC on my poster which wasn't noticeable to me at the time...all 4 corners were sharp so everything looked good but the main merch stack must have been handled improperly and pinched at one corner...still a great print...if i score the s/n...im def gifting this show edition in my SS next yr or prolly end up just giving it away

I'll write more about this show tomorrow morning when I can compose my thoughts better, but all I have to say tonight is that this was in the top 2 or 3 Pearl Jam shows I've ever seen.

Best show I've ever seen. Unreal crowd, and I've never seen the band (particularly Ed) enjoy themselves so much.

The guy in front of me (section 115, row C) was rocking out so hard that one of PJ's security guys brought him a setlist during the 2nd encore. Ruined the Indifference/Watchtower surprise, but was cool to see him recognized for being so into the show.

For those that were curious, nothing was skipped from the setlist that I saw, and Watchtower was on there all along (as was the VH cover, with a ? next to it.)

Fantastic night. My wife had one the lottery at Philly 3 and I won it tonight (1st row, far left Mike's side -thank you 10C!!!). My boys took the seats and security very generously let my wife and I lay low off to the side near them (one of the boys has a medical condition). Ed and Mike ended up giving them both pics and Ed jokingly offered the 13 year old his wine and smoke during Crazy Mary.

I was curious how folks on here would view this show as other than the VH cover and All Along the Watchtower the show was not full of super rareties (only my 7th show but I had heard every song except those 2 live previously). But that would be completely missing the point...the band was incredibly tight, Ed's voice was the best I have heard it, the venue was great, and the crowd rocked. Another magical evening - as someone said it was like a religious experience and Ed was the preacher man. Amen.

Can't wait for Boston, but glad I have a day to recover.

I dont normally feel compelled to add a full "Fanview" but tonight I dont know... it just really hit me...

First of all... PROPS to the people on the Board who detected some of the issues at the VA show the other night... SOUND, seating set up and how the band felt about the venue/crowd in general... you guys were obviously right on because ED Quickly Mentioned how they were happy to be inside and to be able to capture the energy we were giving...

The HARTFORD CROWD WAS FUCKING AWESOME... and IT gave us a hell of a show cause of it... ED and the Band were BLOWN away by the loudness and energy we had... he mentioned it more than once throughout the show...

THat show kicked ass from the first note of the night... I like Unthought Known as an opener ... THe Main Set seemed better than your average main set for some reason... I think EVOLUTION early in the set really sets a tone where it doesnt seem as powerful or relevant in the encore or to close the main set like you see it sometimes... CORDUROY didnt hurt either... I GOT SHIT, SATINS BED... a solid DAUGHTER/WMA NOTHING MAN was a BEAUTIFUL treat where the crowd really stepped it up another notch again... JEREMY was so fun to watch also... main set really ripped...

Its funny from reading the board i got the impression that JUST BREATH has not gone over well with the crowds... I like the song but every night in the encore is a little much for me too... however i gotta say... THe Crowd seemed very into it... cool little treat to get SPEED of SOUND... and at that point... the CHAOS Started...

State of Love N trust is just so powerful live... and then VAN HALEN... WTF???? Where the hell did that come from??/ When people look at me like i got 9 heads when I tell them ive been to 28 Pearl Jam shows with many more to come... I will now use AINT TALKIN BOUT LOVE tonight as an example of WHY it pays to see this band as Many times as you possibly can! PORCH never gets old... the CRAZY MARY Jam was fricken amazing and it felt like ATLEAST an 8 minute version, and id like to think it was closer to 9-10- Love the MIKE BOOM Duel

INDIFFERENCE with the Lights on just sent CHILLS through my body with the Crowd singing the last Verse... another instance where we blew the Band away.... and then A fun WATCHTOWER to end a show THat once again I didnt expect to be this AMAZING with BOSTON and MSG still on the way...

One of the people I was with it was just their 2nd show... after the show they said to me... Ive never seen a band who just makes an appoint to THANK and Appreciate their CROWD like Pearl Jam does.. it made me want to CHEER More and Louder...

It was just an amazing FEEL GOOD night... I dont know how im gonna sleep between now and MSG...

oh ya... if anyone is wonderin about 10 c seats... 210xxx sec 114 tonight 6 rows up... right on stones side... perfect seats ---- POSTER Rocked too..

THANK YOU PEARL JAM... show 28 down, 29 and 30 on the way at MSG... this one fricken Rocked

HOLY SHIT! what can i say? hartford fucking DELIVERED! the crowd was just absolutely insane and totally engaged for every second of the show. eddie was in such a happy mood and was blown away by the crowd's response. this caused the band to be at FULL energy. actually, quite like hartford last time they came. this time however, we were all trapped with the energy inside, like ed said. it was truly something to be had! the band was the tightest i have EVER seen them. i don't think i can pick out a single mistake. it sounded like even during Lukin ed got all the lyrics correct! mike was on fiiiiiire like you wouldn't believe. his solos tonight were just out of this world.

ain't talkin bout love was HOT! i hate van halen but of course i know that song, and i think it's a very well written powerful blast of a tune and it's just been waiting for someone like pj to take over the reigns! it really was incredible. already one of the band's greatest covers ever. it was mind blowing. besides that i've seen everything they played tonight before. that took nothing away from the show tho!

this was my 10th and it was in my home state. awesome. nothingman, low light, satan's bed, speed of sound, and gonna see my friend were highlights. the one-two-three punch of satan's bed, satan's kitchen (lukin), and gonna see my friend was unreal! lowlight was the greatest version EVER! the crowd was super into it and ed held one of the most amazing notes at the end. beautiful. Unthought worked very well as an opener too! i certainly approve. do the evolution so early on was awesome. Daughter was extra trippy. I also decided that i think speed of sound is the best live song from backspacer. it really is gorgeous. i think this one will become rare over time and it is one we'll all be begging for in years to come. overall just such a kickass show!

so pumped for boston and the msgs now! i hope rival, push me pull me, breakerfall, etc.. from the soundcheck carries over to boston! hartford it's been grand!

    * one other thing i noticed is that there aren't many other 18 year old pearl jam maniacs! i think my buddy and i shocked everyone around us when we went apeshit and knew every single song, even more-so then them  . i'm used to that though.

Ha, I saw Ed's "offer" to your sons from my seats - section 105 (up on Mike's side), row J. Had me cracking up.

Back home north of Boston and soaking in everyone's views. After so many PJ shows, I turned to my friend as we were walking out and said, "Well, that was new." I dunno, something about tonight's show felt distinctly unique to me, even though every Pearl Jam show is its own unique creature, which makes it easy to drop the dough every couple of years to see them multiple times during the same tour. From "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" and Ed recounting Jeff's suggestion that Ed get checked out by a doctor for wanting to play it; to Stoney falling down towards the end of Alive (I think) and laughing with Jeff; to Tom Tomorrow's appearance (I heard he might be in porn?? Hee hee), it might have been the silliest, goofiest Pearl Jam show I've seen, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It was really lighthearted and fun.

The guys seemed to be in a really good mood from the moment they walked out and the audience had good energy; the best shows are always the ones with energetic crowds that the band can feed on. Not the most active audience I've been in with regard to pure energy, but the crowd seemed really appreciative and intently focused on the show. It carried me, too.

Anyway, terrific, superb show. Still grinning. Hope to see some of you in Boston on Monday night - breaking in a first-timer then!

View from my seats. Hope to see some of you in Boston on Monday night - breaking in a first-timer then!

Agree with every word of that at this point and especially after SPECTRUM shows I dont expected to be Shocked or over Obsessed with the setlists ( atleast trying on that one) but that was just great tonight... intense and real intense crowd with just a really Happy Celebration like feeling tonight... even the angry songs were happy! haha lets go MSG

ditto on all the above...the crowd energy was amazing. The band sounded so good. Loved the "intimacy" of this venue. A++ show from start to finish (a little hiccup before Amongst the Wave). Easily one of my favorite nights. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love was so unexpected and amazing. This may be a repeat thought, but everything that everyone has shared is how my head is feeling...remembering Unknown Thought...crazy during I Got Id...Jeremy...thanks PJ and all. A unforgettable night.

i wanna go to bed and do this tomorrow but im up and cant stop trying to figure out what it was tonight. i did all 4 philly shows, i did hartford 08, i sat front msg...tonight was different. tonight was loose. tonight was fun and tonight it seemed like everyone in that venue knew that they were going to leave there insanely happy from the first notes of unthought known. and the band returned those thoughts.
this was my 30th show and while it wasnt THE best of the 30, there is no way i can compare it to the rest. the boys were tight and in great spirits. eds voice was solid and like i said, the crowd was full of nothing but love and excitement. the sound was great and band of horses really showed they belong on a big stage like this.
simply put...the stars were aligned. was it loaded with rarities? not so much in some peoples minds. but when you have lowlight, nothingman, i got shit, speed of sound and satans bed in a night, you are golden. i love dissident and solat and they really tore the house down on those and jeremy. aint talkin bout love and watchtower were played so well you would have thought they were originals.
indifference was a moment i will never forget and an amazing way to begin capping off my 30th show.
i had a great time with the 10c'ers round me and im sorry if i moved around too much. i also was able to spread the love via phoen to those that couldnt be here tonight (my friend matts two favorite songs are lowlight and nothingman so i called him for both and it made his night). ill see ya'll at msg.
    i love this band!!!

I think possibly in some ways that in spite of the awesomeness of Hartford 2008, the band might have remembered the venue and how bad it was for the ticket line and felt that it had to make it up to the crowd a little bit. I know I felt that way in deciding to go because if it was in that venue again, I would not have gone.

Just got back home. Quickest way to describe it would be short but sweet. The band was in an unusually festive mood. I don't think I've seen Mike smile so often. It wasn't too short, it's just that the band just seemed to rip thru every song. There was a ton of energy on stage and in the crowd. Severed Hand sticks out to me, and all of the fast songs seemed a little faster, but the slower songs really stick out in my memory... Low Light... Nothingman.... Speed of Sound... all really beautiful. When Eddie announced they were going play something "one time only", I definitely didn't fuckin expect Ain't Talkin Bout Love, and it somehow sounded almost exactly like Van Halen. Mike was already having a really good night, and seeing him doing the finger tapping on that solo was the icing on the cake. All Along the Watchtower with Ben from BoH was fantastic. I could listen to that several times over.

Wow what a great show !! Took my friend who had never been to a PJ show this was a great one to bust his cherry on. Band and the crowd had great energy tonight and the set list was awesome. I liked that they played a lot off the new album.

This was my 7th show and it was great! 2 more to go this week Newark and MSG1.

Was it me or was that one of the best Alive's that you have heard ?
