Is it just me or is LeBron an egotistical asshole? That whole stupid ESPN thing last night, which I am ashamed of myself that I actually watched, he mentioned several times how much he gave to Cleveland, his talents, his 7 years there, etc... He used the word "I" a lot. Who cares really, there are much more to worry about than where a multi-millionaire is going to play basketball. I do feel bad for the people of Cleveland though, not because of LeBron, but because you live there.....hahaha, I am just kidding, no need to go off on me. :D

They got two good players in the draft that can help the bench this season with De'Shaun Butler and Dexter Pitman.

He laid down like a little bitch because he hurt his elbow in the playoffs. Give me Kobe over this clown any day. It will be funny if one or two of them blows out a knee. This is why I hate the NBA. Or whne this team loses to Orlando or the C's in the playoffs and watch the little bitch stram off the court.

ESPN's LeBron circus good for TV ratings, bad for sports media

Author and LeBronologist Buzz Bissinger described it as TV's equivalent of waterboarding. New York Post columnist Mike Vaccaro called it an "awful night for Cleveland, worse night for sports, worst night for ESPN." Eric Stangel, the head writer and executive producer for The Late Show with David Letterman, delivered an equally scathing review on Twitter: "I'm keeping my 2 yr old up to watch the LeBron James Special. I want her to see the exact moment our society hit rock bottom."

The decision on "The Decision" finally came at 9:27 p.m., following the kind of milking best done on a farm. Watching the LeBron James reality show on Thursday night, I gained a new respect for TV's Amish in the City and Temptation Island. This was not a good night for sports television, even if the ratings turn out to be big.

ESPN executives had said repeatedly on Wednesday that James would announce his decision in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the show. Not so. The show opened with Stuart Scott, Michael Wilbon, Chris Broussard, and Jon Barry chatting around a table for 10 minutes about the magnitude of the moment, before Scott read something off a teleprompter that cited James' greatness. That was followed by a feature in which viewers were told how LeBron had dazzled and amazed us and that he was the most coveted prize in this year's free-agent class. The Bristol crew finally tossed it over to freelance interviewer Jim Gray in Greenwich, Conn. ... 22 minutes into the show.

Then, in a decision that defied logic, reason, drama and journalism, Gray asked 16 questions over six minutes before getting to the question that needed to be asked. He asked James if he was still a nail-biter, if he wanted to sleep on his decision, and he even repeated a question ("What did you expect from/what have you thought about this process?") before finally asking the following: "The answer to the question everyone wants to know: LeBron, what is your decision?" The inane and extended foreplay was excruciating and tortured, and the veteran journalist was destroyed on social media, some famous voices among the critics. Tweeted Keith Olbermann: "Jim Gray, my pal, I am about to retroactively take Pete Rose's side." Offered ESPY host Seth Meyers: "Foreplay from Jim Gray just as satisfying as I've always imagined it would be."

If Gray had a highlight, it was his asking James about going to Dwyane Wade's team and not being the headliner. "For me, it's not about sharing," James said. "It's about everybody having their own spotlight and doing what's best for the team." He later asked how James could explain this to Cleveland and what the major reason was for leaving the Cavaliers, and got James to give up the news that Erik Spoelstra will remain the Miami Heat coach (at least for now). As James answered Gray's questions, I'm sure I wasn't alone in thinking this: Any chance we could get a shot of the crowd's reaction in Miami or Cleveland?

The most compelling moment of the program came at 9:52 p.m., when producers hustled to get footage of James' No. 23 jersey burning on the ground in Cleveland. Wilbon -- he and Barry both performed above this circus on the night -- asked the player how he felt about the image. Said a clearly nervous James: "I can't get involved. .... This is a business. I had seven great years in Cleveland. I hope the fans understand, and maybe they won't."

Late on Thursday night, ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson, who had told reporters the announcement would come early in the show, responded to the late reveal. "Our plan was to go to the announcement within the first 15 minutes," said Williamson. "It turned out the LeBron interview began 22 minutes into the live show. The larger point I was trying to make is that the news would be presented within the first part of the program, to allow for analysis and perspective on the front and back end of the announcement. I think we accomplished that despite the fact that my prediction was a little off."

Good point. I just still can't get over this one hour ESPN special to announce that youre leaving your hometown team. That's just a slap in the face to Cleveland. The guy has absolutely no class.

I just heard the Knicks used former employee Isiah Thomas to woo Lebron. What a stupid franchise to do that- didn't he get convicted for sexual harressment and doesn't he coach Florida International now?

I was at a bar last night and roughly seventeen seconds after "South Beach" came out of his mouth everyone settled up their tabs, shrugged, and went home. A couple of people tried to work up a "fuck you, traitor" but no one was biting. The DJ tried to make a funny by playing "Hey hey hey, goodbye" on the PA but he got no reaction other than some stink-eyes and cut it off after a few seconds.

Just another thing to add to the pile of Cleveland's sports troubles.

I have become an even bigger Cleveland fan in the last 24 hours.

The more I think about it and read reactions, I am really sorry that LeBron didnt invest some of his serious dough into someone with some real sense, a life coach instead of an agent. I actually dont even recognize "life coach" as a profession usually, but in this case he needed someone to help him see things through.

    Way to go Dan Gilbert!

Cavs owner's letter mocked for Comic Sans font
    By John D. Sutter, CNN

Editor's note: NBA.com and CNN.com share the same parent company, Turner Broadcasting Services Inc.

(CNN) -- Dear computer users: If you're ever going to write a fuming letter, think twice before setting the font to the oh-so-mockable Comic Sans.

Take it from Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the NBA team that lost its star basketball player, LeBron James, on Thursday night.

After Gilbert posted a rant -- in the cutesy Comic Sans typeface -- about James' departure on NBA.com, bloggers, newspaper writers and Twitter pundits lashed back with a collective message that essentially said this:

Unless you're a fourth-grader, or being ironic, or the author of a comic book, or on vacation from the 1990s, never use that typeface.

On Twitter, discussion of Gilbert's font choice briefly trumped the debate about James' move to the Miami Heat, according to the blog TechCrunch, which posted a screen grab of the trending topics from that messaging site.

One of the blog's writers, MG Siegler, says the font faux pas is especially egregious given how much press Gilbert's letter is receiving.

"Normally a staple among six-year olds and grandmothers, Gilbert for some reason decided to use the font to write what will undoubtedly be the most public message he will ever write," he writes. "And it's too bad, because the content of the message itself is quite good -- very juicy. Gilbert's use of quotes, capitalization, and bolded letters makes it very clear just how pissed off he is."

Siegler calls Comic Sans "probably the worst font ever to grace the computer screen."

Comic Sans is the brainchild of Vincent Connare, who created the font while working as a "typographic engineer" at Microsoft in the 1990s. There were primarily two ideas behind the font's origin: Microsoft wanted a font that was more "FUN" than the rest, and comic-book lettering hadn't transferred well from books to the computer screen.

"There was a consistent style used in comics, which was quite unlike the style of lettering you see in newspaper cartoon strips," Connare writes on Microsoft's website dedicated to the font. "I also noticed that many people were inappropriately using drafting lettering in comic speech balloons."

Since the '90s though, Comic Sans has become a mockery on the internet. A movement called "Ban Comic Sans" has been trying to kill the font.

"The typeface has been used in countless contexts from restaurant signage to college exams to medical information," an introductory post on the site bancomicsans.com says.

"These widespread abuses of printed type threaten to erode the very foundations upon which centuries of typographic history are built."

In a CollegeHumor.com video about a fictional "font conference," a guy representing Comic Sans swoops into the final scene, dressed as a boyish superhero in a cape and tights, only to find that all of his friends have already been killed.

"Y'all good? I'm gonna peace out. If anyone needs me, Comic Sans will be over here!" the character says before stepping out of the frame.

Connare is apparently able to maintain a sense of humor about his creation.

"If you love it, you don't know much about typography," he told The Wall Street Journal in 2009, before adding: "If you hate it, you really don't know much about typography, either, and you should get another hobby."

As for Gilbert, the Cavs' owner, the font choice may have served the purpose -- whether intended or not -- of getting his message out to the public.

Stories about the fuming letter on the websites for The Washington Post, ESPN, CBS Sports and Time all mentioned Gilbert's choice of Comic Sans.

"You see, he wrote in Comic Sans so that you would know he's serious," Matt Moore writes on a blog at CBSSports.com.

On a Washington Post blog, Michael Lee writes that Comic Sans only adds to the "ridiculous nature of the evening" on Thursday.

TechCrunch's Siegler, referring to the fonts made up mostly of symbols, said he will "await a LeBron response in Wingdings."
