Then again, it makes sense for national league fans to enjoy watching inferior ability

Lol. Could you imagine if David Ortiz actually had to play in the field? Not being able to actually play defense is the reason why you don't see DHs in the Hall of fame.

    David Ortiz is a clown.

Just trolling but I don't understand why anyone enjoys watching pitchers bat

I'm not necessarily a purist. I am for using replay in baseball, for example. I just think that if you are on the field, you should have to hit.

Do you realize how much of an advantage the braves of the 90's had by having those great hitting pitchers? It wasn't an automatic out when guys like maddux and glavine were up. They expected to get hits. You lose that in the AL.

On the other side, if your pitcher is battling, you count on the pitchers spot in the order to get an out when you had a weak hitting pitcher up. Plus, if someone like John Lester got a hit off of your struggling pitcher, you knew it was time to pull the plug.

the DH is terrible. I'm surprised anyone likes that. takes about 75% of the managers strategy out of the game. much easier to manage with a DH.

and I really don't like the strike zone box on the ESPN telecasts. makes my eyes focus too much on that spot and i already know what the strike zone is.
  • I have always been an NL purist and love the strategy of double switches and all that good stuff. I do know people though who argue against me that it is now 2015 and baseball is about Pitchers pitching and Hitters hitting. If there was a DH in the NL the Giants didn't win any of those 3 which is more than enough for me. Fuck the DH.

^^^^ having to dig up a DH in the 2002 WS (Shinjo?) really hurt the Giants but it was great seeing Vlad Guerrero and Delmon Young try to field in the 2010 and 2012 WS.....also nice seeing Zito drive in a run in his 2012 NLCS masterpiece

Yea, it seems like they only have it to argue bad calls instantly instead of just having it on the replay. I don't like the box either.

That 2012 team and Zito are always my favorite. 2010 was improbable, 2014 was the year of Madbum, but 2012 was taking down that pitching staff. It was Zito beating Verlander and that holy shit moment when it happened. It was Sandoval going deep 3 times off Verlander and seeing something that never should have happened. That was definitely my favorite.

they were ALL good....2010, beating Philly....the guys in that thread are still bitter...cody ross, huff daddy, timmy....2012, 6 straight elimination games...last year, taking out "the best team" and always good to beat the cards.

  • Its the same principal Balco used to get away with it for so long. If it wasn't for a spurned lover of one of the female Olympic athletes (and her trainer no doubt) mailing in a syringe of the clear it probably still wouldn't be tested for today. It was very simply a steroid from the 60's that didn't get produced.
