In light of (a) the exorbitant salaries curiously paid via Dodgers charities; (b) the almost total lack of income taxes paid by the McCourts; and (c) the McCourts’ habit of using the Dodgers like a personal piggy bank, complete with huge salaries paid to the McCourt children for do-nothing jobs, one should not be too surprised by this news:
A federal grand jury is investigating possible criminal financial misconduct of the Dodgers and related entities during the ownership of Frank and Jamie McCourt, a person familiar with the matter told The Times.
Authorities have requested documents from representatives of each of the McCourts, the person said. The investigation started early last year and appears to be focused on the accounting and propriety of Dodgers spending, the person said.
Hey, second time I get to use the Sad Frank face today. Good times. Well, for us that is. Frank McCourt and his ex-wife are probably in a whole mess of trouble.

Anyone notice that the NL East and Al East are about the same (look at the standing, last place team is like 3 games out of first)? Also the AL Central and NL Central are almost identical. Guess the same can be said with the AL West and NL West as well

Umps are a complete fucking joke. :fp:
Just saw the clip with Hawk losing it....he's out of his goddamn mind, but for once he is actually right.
Same thing happened to a Blue Jays pitcher last week. Alvarez came inside on a batter with a 1-2 fastball and got ejected. He had just given up three home runs and the umpire assumed that he was trying to hit the batter.

Ouch. Can't be worse than Howey Kendrick hurting himself after he hit a walk-off grand slam a couple years ago.

Votto has not popped up to the infield all season. In fact, he has popped out to the infield only three times in 2,138 plate appearances over the past four seasons.
• The average NL hitter bats .198 when he is behind in the count. Votto hits .300 when he is behind in the count.
• Votto has pulled a ball foul into the stands only once in his entire major league career. Once.
"Sure, I remember it," he said. "It was my rookie year. It wasn't that deep -- and maybe 20, 30 feet foul. I haven't hit a long home run foul in my whole career."
That last one may be the most outrageous baseball stat I have ever heard.

That was a good read. That guy is a god if he plays in a big market.

Agreed. I can't believe the guy has pulled only 1 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ball into the stands in his career. Insane.

they must mean hr length ... he must've pulled more balls foul ... :?
Yeah, I don't know. That seems pretty impossible, but the article says, pulled one into the stands but his quote seems to imply home run length.
yeah ... the more I think about it ... even at HR length - that is bizarre! ... i think jose bautista has hooked 2 foul this week alone ...
It's crazy. I don't get how someone can stay back that much. I need to watch more Reds games.
