That's true. But with the Rays/Jays/Orioles doing well it will be hard for the BoSox and Yanks.

    braves
    reds
    cards
    rays

all have a pretty good shot to make the playoffs. spending lots of money and spending money efficiently are two different things. MLB doesn't need a hard cap

well ... thing is ... its about injuries ... the rays lost longoria and are not as hot anymore ... yanks and red sox are older teams who are both depleted with injuries ...

the AL East is gonna be a blood bath ... as usual ... :(

i'd like to see a hard cap just for redistribution of money ... although it is true that it's how efficiently you spend the money - i do think that too many teams run on such tight budgets that if there was some extra cash - it would help out significantly ...

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but isn't that what revenue sharing is for?? I think the latest cba includes salary floors because certain teams were just pocketing their revenue sharing income

with all the mega TV deals already in place or pending, I'm thinking that before long the majority of teams will have plenty of money but the mega talent pool will be stagnant.....thus, it really won't matter.

good point. hard draft slotting will help teams that usually don't spend a lot in the draft too
