Its cheating whether you were caught or not. Some guys were just so stupid and juiced until their bodies doubled in size .

Yeah, the overnight incredible hulk crowd was pretty funny.:lol: :fp:

SImply put, I'm not goingt o use the old cliche "it ruined the game for me," but I certainly lost a bit of interest in baseball once I heard all the roid controversy.

And to say that there's no proof that it helps you hit a baseball, might be true, but its just silly. How does a physical enhancement not help you? Roids make you bigger and faster -- easier to cheat.

a lot of hitting a baseball has to do with vision and flexibility, not how strong you are

Of course, but its a mix of both. But with strength, often comes quickness...You cant say that adding quickness to your swing will usually hurt someone.

Also, regarding the idea that pitchers might have been on roids too -- there have been studies that suggest that pitchers will/might have come close to hitting their limits with maximum pitch velocity (approx.100-105mph)because the amount of torque needed to throw in excess of the those speeds is greater than the amount of force the ulnar collateral ligament (the elbow ligament) can withstand before giving out.

So, there's another good baseball discussion -- Tommy John surgery is becoming quite common.

Max Scherzer of Detroit 15 strikeouts today...all 15 were swinging third strikes...quick google search didn't show if any records kept on this type of stat...one would think this has to be a record...15 strikeouts when the batter goes down swinging is impressive.

I guess the major league record is 20 and the Tiger record is 16...you would have thought Leyland would have at least let him pitch the 8th and try for the Tiger record... :o

I'm sure Leyland had no clue what the club record is.

 just turned on MLB.tv and saw this. I don't know why I was thinking they had off :?.

Last week they split a 2 game series with the Reds. I'm guessing they split these four games too.

    Thoughts so far?

My Sox have been playing great as of late.

Think the O's can keep it up?

I don't think the O's can stay in the playoff hunt. I do think that tampa is clearly the best team in that division. And with morrow and romero pitching well, toronto could make a serious run. apparently they are prepping to make a run at another SP at the deadline.

I'm sticking with my texas/cincy WS

And I'm sticking with Texas/braves. I'll pretend that back to back to back didn't happen tonight lol

Aroldis Chapman was arrested for driving 93 mph with a suspended license. It's really not a good idea to see if your car can go faster than your fastball when you've already lost your license.

I doubt he'll be suspended. MLB doesn't even suspend guys who get DUIs so I'm sure he'll bo OK on that front. It's possible that the team will sit him for a few days until this blows over, but they hadn't made any comment on it so far.

In one way I am very happy about that. But I also realize that this gives an argument to not having a salary cap :?.
