Got to admit... Saw MMJ and Band of Horses last night, and didn't care much for MMJ. I thought they were particularly showy, and thought the sound left much to be desired. It almost felt to me like they were all playing riffs from different songs.

That being said, Band of Horses opened, who, once again, were fucking excellent.

Really? I've seen BOH be awesome 4 other times but the 3 times I saw them last week I thought they were just up there goofing around. Ben sorta admitted they were just trying to figure out how to play all the new songs before the album came out.

"Mirage Rock is the name of a song so bad it didn't make the album. You're about to find out how bad it is."

ok seems to be plenty going to the show friday night? what do people want as the opener?

for me strangulation would be insane.

my first time seeing them, so I really dont' care. I prefer slower openers and having the show build, so I think a song like master plan, smokin from shootin, etc would be cool.

    strangulation would be awesome too.

really looking forward to tomorrow. wish I would have gotten into this band earlier

I've seen them 11 times with 7 different openers (including One Big Holiday, which was nuts), and I think At Dawn is their Release. It just gets everything started perfectly.

I really hope the play They Ran. Don't care if it's the opener, just want to hear it.

They haven't played it since Red Rox. Maybe they'll get back to it...

That was the first song I heard from them live, and At Dawn is my favorite MMJ album :D

Whats the deal with Roll Call tix? DO we just show up at the venue with our drivers license? I did not re-join the Roll Call this year so I dont have a card or anything.

Wow, what a show! 2 hours and 40 minutes of MMJ (also an hour of band of horses :) ). Sound check thing was pretty cool. Played 3 songs for about 20 minutes. chatted with us during songs about Andre Agassi and philly (which made no sense since he never lived here). Also talked about the Mann center in general. Sorry not going to attempt to do the set list (i'm horrible with that :( ). They did open with XMas Curtain and clsoed with One Big Holiday and there were about 24 songs in between including Gideon, I'mrat Amazed, Into The Woods, Strangualtion, Touch me part 1 & 2, Victory Dance, Black Metal, Outta My System, First Light, Run Thru, It Beats 4 U, Wordless Chorus, Dondante, Wonderful (w/Ben Bridwell), Smokin From Shootin, The Bear (I think), Rocket Man, and a few others.

Yea, I would've loved to hear Phone but damn that set was awesome. Once they went into The Bear the rest of the night was just better and better. One of if not the best non-PJ show I've seen :D

for me at least MMJ have surpassed every rock band in the world.. they were awe inspiring last night. I couldn't speak afterwards I had no words to express what I witnessed.

good seeing you and elana last night. Had a great time! Wish I knew more of their stuff. I got into them when Z came out (which is my fav album from them). I still need to get At Dawn, I have about half that album on my ipod  . I bought Tennessee Fire about a month ago, but only listened to it few times.
