And I want to add one of my all time favorites- Rage Against The Machine!!! Where the fuck you guys at, we fucken need you guys MORE now then we ever did!!!!! Bring back the messages, teach the people!!! Wake the nation, and unite the world!!!!!

Has there been a more overrated musician over the last twenty years than Tom Morello? He single-handedly drove Audioslave into the ground with his pointless and obligatory solos. People praise him for making his guitar sound like a DJ scratching records. Who gives a fuck? Most of the time, the result is a bunch of ugly noise.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Every single member cept for maybe Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers comes to mind, oh and Stone Temple Pilots as a whole, but specifically Scott Weiland.

    Back to the original point

    1) Zeppelin
    2) Sabbath
    3) The Who (don't think anyone has mentioned them yet)
    4) Pink Floyd
    32 shows and counting...

I like this list but not necessarily the order. Certainly like Zep at the top. Others maybe Cream and The Who.
Jimi Hendrix Experience as previously mentioned.

I'd say Zep would b second. Deep Purple were monster players
thats why Deep Purple is my first choice.. ..Cream and who is in first 10 for sure..

Are u serious? I said RATM not audio slave. And bro, your opinion is yours and mine is mine. And ya I agree pink Floyd, zep and I'm just saying what Rage did musically was incredible. Bro they opened up for the peppers in 90 and stole the fucken show. There music was a movement and it'll be relivant for times to come....

Oh, and if youre intrested in seeing Tom play overrated, YouTube ghost of Tom ghoad with Springsteen in Anaheim, ca. An amazing fucking performance...check it out.

Even though the band's lineup has been somewhat of a revolving door, I'm going to add Funkadelic.

I read this as horrible at first, and I was about to write some terrible things, but then I re read it lol. I think the whole of the Beatles is way greater than the individual parts, McCartney is definitely the most proficient at his instrument in my opinion, but John wrote better songs.

Grateful Dead - Wasn't just Jerry. Phil Lesh & Mickey Hart are top notch, and the rest of the guys (with the exception of Donna's vocals in the 70's) were/are pretty damn good too, especially Brent Mydland.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

  • What a ridiculous discussion - if every subjective opinion of the best musician is to be taken seriously, then none of them can be taken even at face value, in an epistemological sense. Why is the Internet ridden with so many stories, like the one followed in this thread, that are better left untold?

Go get 'em Tiger! :D I think Satan's story is better left untold.

Along with the classics that everyone says (Floyd, Zep, Deep Purple, Beatles), here are my thoughts:

    Mr. Bungle
    Primus (with Larry & Herb)
    Morphine
    Ween
    Pink Martini
    System of a Down
    Lynyrd Skynrd

Like Dimitris I'd go with Deep Purple. Gillan, Blackmore, Paice, Glover & Lord not any other lineup!
Led Zep, The Doors, Rush, Iron Maiden, Sonic Youth, The Who and many others all have a claim but I never got the Black Sabbath mania? Good band, good songs but pretty ordinary musicians besides Bill Ward.

I'd like to think that The Black Crowes has/and have had a good assortment of musicians.

Even though he's no longer with the band, Marc Ford is a beast on the guitar.

just my personal opinion, but I think Chris Robinson is one of the better vocalists of his time.
    7/2/06 - Denver, CO
    6/12/08 - Tampa, FL
    8/23/09 - Chicago, IL

    9/03/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 1

    Of just rock bands:

    Rush
    Phish
    Yes
    King Crimson
    Primus
    Tool

tons of metal bands like Mastadon/Meshuggah/Necrophagist/etc have immense talent.

Ozzy is a great entertainer, I've been to a couple shows myself and loved them but I don't really class him as a musician. Geezer is an ok bass player but nothing spectacular to me. Bill Ward is a fantastic drummer and Tony Iommi may have written the riff bible but I don't think Sabs members would have stood out in other bands without each other. Don't get me wrong, I have most of the albums and think they're ok but Led Zep and Deep Purple have something a bit more epic. All three are timeless bands but for musicans that MkII Purps lineup takes some beating.
