    Black Sabbath

    or

    Rush

Each member is just ridiculously talented.

I'm sure the Jimi Hendrix Experience and other bands like Mastodon are talented too. I know Brann Dailor is one of the best drummers on the planet.

They are hardly any weakenesses in this 3 piece band besides they make a ton of noise for 3 geeky guys up on stage.

DC from Tool is the only one that I would classify as a great musician, if we are talkin sheer musicianship.

    Rush
    Zeppelin
    The Mars Volta

Ahhh,,,,,,,,yeah right!!! Are u serious? Dude, Tool is the shit and every member is a fucken bad ass musician...they are all exceptional and collectively bind together as a solid band. I've seen tool over 25 times live and that sounds not easy to come up with. Sorry mate, but to each is his own, but I beg to differ. I do agree that DC is the shit!!!!

Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
  • If you're using the word musician in it's simplest terms then Jack White deserves a mention and, even though I'm currently not their greatest fan, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood.

that the point..the thread means which band has the best musicians, not one of the band is number one but the other not in the same level..thats the reason i post Deep Purple.each of them are amazing and high level musicians, that doesnt mean they are the best band..

    I'd agree with Rush.

I'd also like to add Sonic Youth.

    Led Zeppelin
The Mars Volta (when Jon Theodore was drumming)
Faith No More (The Real Thing/Angel Dust lineup)
    Wilco (current lineup)
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

I know they get a lot of hate from people on this board, but the guys in DMB are pretty good - Carter Beauford is lights out behind the kit on stage.

Zep is always a good choice, so are Tool and Radiohead. As good as Carter is, Danny is a whole other level above him.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

Yes they count, why wouldnt they? These guys are incredible musicans and write some of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. JPJ can do it all; amazing bass player, plays the keyboard, mandolin, and on a new track they played live for the first time last week he plays the violin. Homme is an amazing guitarist, I love to sit down with the headphones in and listen to all the little riffs he adds to songs that you wouldn't catch unless you actually pay attention. They feed off of each other perfectly when playing live and just jam out making for an amazing live experience. The 10 minute version of Scumbag Blues is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

Wasn't really a band of musicians, but I will mention Jeff Buckley. That man had some talent, and some soul...we were definitely robbed of a fantastic musician when Jeff left.

I like this list but not necessarily the order. Certainly like Zep at the top. Others maybe Cream and The Who.
Jimi Hendrix Experience as previously mentioned.
