St. Paul 03 has the worst setlist I've ever seen. I was at this show sadly.
set: Of The Girl, Last Exit, Given To Fly, Ghost, Corduroy, Wishlist, Immortality, Even Flow, Thin Air, Cropduster, Grievance, Driven To Tears, I Am Mine, Alive, Black
enc 1: Daughter (no tag), Save You, State Of Love And Trust, Bushleaguer, Better Man, Lukin, Leaving Here
enc 2: Elderly Woman, Rearviewmirror, Rockin’ In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter
I would've LOVED this show: Of The Girl opener followed straight up by Last Exit and then a whole bunch of amazing (and rarely played) tunes:
Ghost
Immortality
Thin Air
Cropduster
Grievance
Driven To Tears
Leaving Here
+ Black, SOLAT, an unusually placed RVM and a whole bunch of PJ classics.

no setlist with SOLAT and RVM could ever be considered the worst. There's other good stuff in there, as well....along with a few duds.
Seriously! whoever wrote that should just put down the crackpipe and back away!

i never understood all the sleater-kinney hate around here, just taste i guess. i personally love 'em.
go listen to the SK lead singer do hunger strike and then get back to me. like nails on a fucking chalkboard. fortunate son is even worse.

What you dpmay do not understand is the fact that we don't hate them. We just want them to leave the fuck alone those two kickass songs. If they stick to their own songs that's fine. But please just get off the fucking stage when Hunger Strike is being played or Fortunate Son for that matter.
Well, since they are no longer together, I guess no real danger of this happening ever again. Although they do pop up individually at Portland shows. Now I will say this: I was at Portland 09 show and it was great having Corine do Golden State with Vedder. I truly enjoyed that.

this is a good set they hardly play of the girl, ghost, driven to tears, or bushleager.
Even if it was a nightmare setlist, i would have still got to see PJ again. That being said, Jeremy could be left out. When they play it anyway, I would still sing along.

Oceans, you have got to be kidding? I have also noticed alot of Unthought Known on many lists. That really surprises me! One song I could really do without (other than Last kiss of course) is Given to Fly.
I notice a lot of posters listing songs that they have probably never heard live. Push me Pull me is great live, Arc (whether EV solo or at a PJ show) is something amazing, and even Pilate was fun live. Just because it sucks on the album, doesn't mean it sucks live!
If you really want to see a nightmare setlist, just look for any show they have ever played in Camden NJ! I will never understand how shows in Philly proper can be so amazing, with so many rare songs. And shows just accross the river are so bad and packed with radio friendly greatest hits.
God's Dice, Get Right, World Wide Suicide, Even Flow, Last Kiss, Nothing As it Seems, Not for You, Help Help, W.M.A, I'm Open, All Night, Hitchhiker, Bushleaguer, Gremmie out of Control, All or None, Don't Gimme no Lip
encore:
Mankind, Soon Forget, Thumbing My Way, Wash, Get Right
encore2:
Sweet Lew, Wish List, No More, Yellow Ledbetter
"we are Given To Fly using Parachutes to Breakerfall landing on the Marker In The Sand. we are just Driftin down the Long Road of life for Nothings As It Seems, it's a roll of Gods' Dice and in the end we all Go into Thin Air. so Smile when you are Down - You Are your own Pilate in life; Release the Leash and don't regret a Life Wasted, live in the Present Tense, and Hold On for you will Soon Forget the Insignificance of it all."

sure, fair point. mostly i guess i was referring to the general distaste for SK around here - i remember how they were just ripped as an opener, and i actually saw them booed in 03. but, taste is taste, so i really don't care. i just like mentioning that there are some PJ fans who also dig SK.

"I've also been a guest, which is a much more precarious position. When my band opened for Pearl Jam, we would often join them on stage during their encores. In these instances, I felt like a homewrecker, intruding on fans' love affair with the band: We were destroying the moment and killing whatever imagined version of the song fans had in their minds. Thanks for posting that... at least they are not oblivious. She definitely "gets" it. Luckily SK did not participate in PJ's sets the two times I saw them opening, and even if they did I guess I could handle it for ONE song. I have some of the '03 bootlegs though and I guess it's Holmdel where they're out there screeching and playing half-assed drums (on RITFW) for 3 or 4 songs?! I just think it is not good, musically, from a band who IS very musical (PJ) and good players.
Garden State really DOES sound awesome though, on record. I like that song a lot, and if I hadn't known it was Corin, I probably wouldn't have figured it out, at least not on the first couple of listens. The girl can sing nicely, she just chooses not to most of the time I guess.
Anyway, I can't believe people are still replying to this thread. Interesting to see some of the responses. That's the point... no one is going to agree on a "dream" setlist or a "nightmare" one. It's all just what you happen to like or not like quite as much. I for one would fucking LOVE to hear Ghost but see it on a lot of these. However, I'm not going to tell the poster he/she is stupid for NOT wanting to hear Ghost. I started this thing so there's no way I'm going to chastise someone else for hating a song.

This is DREAM setlist material for me.
I wish PJ had brought S-K down as an opener for an Australian tour, I'm still kicking myself for missing them at a festival I was at as I'd see them "next time".
Evacuation may be my all-time favourite Pearl Jam song, so any setlist with it in there is automatically skyrocketed to awesomeness (does that make sense? I'm a little drunk.)
I love pretty much all of Matt's songs, I'd take anything he's written over middle-of-the-road snoozefests like Amongst the Waves or Inside Job. At least Matt's tunes are never boring, always inventive and interesting.
In short, I think I'd be kissing the floor with gratitude if I ever was lucky enough to see this setlist - throw in Speed of Sound and I'd self-combust from the incredible-ness.
That's the awesome thing about this band - we all appreciate different aspects of them, they've got such a wide and rich catalogue. While we all bitch and moan, I think they do a pretty great job of pleasing most of us most of us the time.
