I'm feeling an all day drinking fest in the back yard while playing washoos and redneck golf. If I knew anyone else going I'd consider it a party. Probably just me, the wife, and the dog.

It's not really much of a bar town, so your options are limited. I would recommend going over early to the mall across the street from Deer Creek to beat the traffic. There's a place called Mo's Irish Pub. I bet you'll run into other concert goers there.

Other than that, I know there is a BW3s and a place called Britton Tavern at highway 37 and 141st street, a couple miles south from your hotel.

Yep, me too, I'm listening to the Indy 98 show right now. Good memories.

I'll be having a few drinks at home too, cheaper that way!

Sounds good... I'm in. I've seen PJ here two other times. Last time I got 3rd row, so I'm hoping some peeps let their memberships expire! I have a number of 123xxx so I'm hoping that pays off.

And hell yeah, I'm all about a meet up prior to rocking. Last time I was at Deer Creek (I refuse to call it Verizon....) it was surrounded by corn fields.

I'll be tailgating, so long as those damned hippies don't fuck it up for another 15 years.

I checked on line and found a local brewery that I plan on hitting up called, Barley Island Brewing Company. It looks pretty good. There is another place called Mudsocks Grill that looks fun. They actually have two really upscale resturants as well.

  • So they do allow tailgating there? I heard someone mention camping too? Is it on the grounds or near by? I'd give some serious thought to camping there.

Barley Island downtown has great beer....parking is bad but only small town bad...they have great burgers and the place is usually deserted

    Mudsocks is good....but pricey

The Ram is south of the Super 8 a few miles but is locally brewed beer

otherwise the standard Applebees/Chili's/O'Charley's/Logan Steakhouse is right by the hotel

    The Ram...

I would love some locally brewed beers, but at this point any tavern/bar/pub that sells beers, whiskey, rum, and Jaeg Bombs... I am game! haha

They do have camping close by, just hope for good weather, you never know what it's going to be like around here in May.

Those bars are options, just depends on how early you plan on getting to the show. Just be careful about getting stuck in traffic. At least at Mo's at the mall you're already close by. Or from The Ram or Britton Tavern you could take some back roads to get there.

Anyone know if the VIP parking is worth it? I did it for Mansfield and it was a lifesaver... but I dont want to waste $$. But I have to get back for a wedding the next day so I'm trying to be smart about getting back fast.

last time I did it I had to wait a hell of a long time but they did end up getting us out of there before the main lot emptied

Anyone have a comparison between Deer Creek and the old Pine Knob (I refuse to call it DTE Energy) in Detroit? Seen PJ at the latter, but planning to take them in @ Deer Creek for the first time this May.

Pine Knob is/was way smaller, I saw Grateful Dead there in 1991 as for Deercreek, I saw Grateful Dead there 5 different times about 12 shows total, I "used" to LOVE the place, I saw Phish there last summer, it was still a good venue, but they have let the cover on top of the venue really go to shit, it's all old, rusty and dirty and needs to be replaced. The cops used to be real pricks there also, but they were fine last summer, I think Pine Knob is just as good if not better than Deercreek, Deercreek is just a little bigger size wise.

Cambria was $99 when I booked yesterday afternoon. I read somewhere on here that it went up to $179 sometime after that

That was me...at 3 p.m. yesterday it was $99; I called at 8 p.m. and it was $179. The lady at the place point blank told me, "as soon as we heard the PJ date we got prices up." No shame.

I got the Super 8 with a AAA discount (my card has been expired for 3 years, no one checks though!) for $100 out the door. Not too bad.

I'm originally from Detroit, and to me Deer Creek was better. The one thing I remember is that, unlike Pine Knob, the pavilion seats aren't sold to season ticket holders and thus you only get the crappy seats(even with Ten Club).

The other thing I remember about Deer Creek(atleast via 2000) was that you had to get your beer bracelet from a police officer, which severely limited my brother(underage at the time) from using his fake ID. I'd never seen cops doing the ID checking at a venue before, so that was a bit unique. Maybe goes hand in hand what someone said about the cops there being pricks.

Really!?! Yeah I was only 20 back at the 2000 show... Cops doing beer bracelets, interesting...

    Wow...these prices are crazy.

I got the Days Inn in Castleton for $53 with tax. I think its around 10 miles from the venue and I couldnt beat that price...

That is interesting. I remember being quite a few rows back at DTE in 03. Hopefully the seats at Deer Creek are better :)
