i think they are mainly interested in collecting their tribute money from the coasts every year and then going back home. dont seem too interested in 'spreading the jam' anymore.
What's new. Another tour announcement, another snub for Texas. We should be used to it by now. Besides ACL, what's the closest city they've played to Texas since 2003? Chicago? Denver?
Every other band / musical artist / comedian that tours apparently.
2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City
I know I was really looking forward to the possibility of at least a Dallas show. I say don't get too down yet though. You have to figure these are just a few dates before their stint over in Europe, and who knows, maybe they will have some more dates in the US which includes Texas as they work their way back to the West coast just before the 20th Anniversary date. Hey, a man can dream right?
Every fucking band that exists except for this one.
Thanks for the love guys. Three of the biggest cities in the country and you can't play one show in any of them in 7 fucking years. 7 years!!! Fucking wow. Just wow.
This is a midwest/east coast tour. I know it sucks right now, because every tour announcement from the past few years has let me down, but perhaps they will do a south/southwest/west tour later this year or early next year. I know that brings no comfort to you, but judging from what the tweet about the tour said, and the fact that soundgarden is gonna tour, it sounds like PJ sort of threw this together quickly to hit some places they hadnt been in awhile like Kansas City, Columbus and Buffalo, in the Midwest, and a few places like NYC and Boston on the east coast since they are near-by and can count on those places to fill the house. Don't fret yet, I am sure PJ will swing through Texas at some point.
words seem so out of place.

No Texas, No MI, it costs money to lug their stuff to states like this.
Sure they could make some money, keep themselves relevent to those states fanbases, but they could make more money by not lugging thier shit up to MI or down to Texas for 1 show. I guess that is their right to do that. They have families and all that.
But, I think they need to rethink the absence makes the heart grown fonder crap. Absence will make you irrelevent, quickly. Especially when the band is 45. I honestly am not even thinking about buying tickets to Indy, it's official IMO, PJ is not better than every other band and are not worth shelling out a weeks pay for for 1 show.
I think the biggest reason all of this is so frustrating is because they don't/wont tell us the reason behind it. So we are just left to sit and wonder WTF is going on.
I live in Minneapolis, and while yes we got Pearl Jam/Tom Petty back in 2006, I don't count that as a true Pearl Jam show. And at this point, I've seen them in Chicago just as many times as I've seen them in my own backyard.
But for you guys in Texas? I can't even imagine what this tour drought must be like for you.
I think maybe I just need to stay away from the boards for a while, because I'm getting sick of the attitude the East coast folks have. Every time the subject comes up, about why doesn't Pearl Jam tour here or there, they like to point out 1 or 2 measly shows, as if that counts.
My favorite is when someone says 'Hey, they played Texas last year' Bah, as if a festival gig counts for anything. And the fact that they play ACL in between 4 L.A. shows is the biggest joke I've ever seen.
You are right next door, 5 hours away from the soon to be 3rd largest city in the USA (after 2010 census) on May 1st and could not route anything?? I find that hard to believe especially since the Rockets aint making the playoffs and we have no NHL team ! :?
Riotact...thanks for the positive outlook for Texas, but until it happens, I'm not about to talk myself into the "well, maybe they'll add some Texas/southern dates in the Fall." theory (again). I say that every time a Europe/Australia/New Zealand/Canada/East Coast/West Coast/Midwest tour is announced. Never happens.
Maybe it has something to do with Wubya and his dad...
Ed is not a big fan....

I don't get this, I really don't. I thought for sure they would hit at least Houston or Dallas between New Orleans and the midwest. It just makes sense looking at the map. 2 Shows in Ohio and others just a few hours away from there and they can't stop in the most populated areas in the country?
Dallas and Houston (whose shows sell out by the way)- 7 years and counting!
2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City
Okay seriously, what does the band have against Texas? Their ACL performance was a success and the crowd loved them. After the show I was talking with people who thought Pearl Jam was awesome but didn't even know they still toured.
2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City
Flagg, like usual I agree with everything you said on this topic.
It's become a fucking joke. They've made it clear that they will play anywhere if you pay them a boatload of dough (ACL). Skipping TX to play 2 shows in Missouri is laughable.
I will actually be in the NE when they are up there but I'm tired of going out of my way and traveling all over.
I thought when they put their own record put they would finally care about selling records, which you do by touring. Everywhere. Their strategy seems to be hit the coasts and make a ton of cash then go on vacay in Europe, aus/nz or Hawaii.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
Riotact...thanks for the positive outlook for Texas, but until it happens, I'm not about to talk myself into the "well, maybe they'll add some Texas/southern dates in the Fall." theory (again). I say that every time New Zealand tour is announced. Never happens.

but i live in New York
bring on the Garden dates!!!
But yeah, it would be cool if they played down here.
dallas and houston are pretty major cities, no? i don't think selling out is a problem.
Get rid of the Longhorns and we will play down there.

Bingo!!!
Yeah...I can definitely see how both of them would benefit from a PJ show.
you evidently don't say THAT very often then.
THATS WHY!!!!11
If that's true their morals are far from where I thought. I think they're just lazy. Of course they could always tell us why!
