Thats the difference between you and us we love every Canadian player, I can go back to my dislikes next week, but truth is I don't dislike any Canadian player, except maybe Sean Avery, but I blame him and his attitude on the US, since your commissioner and your owners are sissies and dislike fighting. Believe me if they eliminated the 3rd guy in rule shit disturbers like him and Backes would be irrelevant.

You and us you speak for a whole country now

Did you read my post ? I like them today and will continue hating them after the game

I hate Buttman as well he thought eliminating fighting would bring in a bigger US audience but it hasn't happened obviously..the owners saw $ signs when the rules were changed in reality it probably pushed away the loyal hockey fan

But I disagree about Avery he's been a punk from day one and would still pull shit..did the 3rd man in rule discourage Dale Hunter or Ulf Samuelsson for years cheap shoting players ? didn't think so

There will always be the "chippy" dirty player in hockey regardless of rules

You're right there always will be chippy and dirty players, the difference today is they take runs at superstars with very little way of consequences. Back in the day if you took a run at Gretzky, you had to deal with Semenko, took a run a Yzerman you dealt with Probert, now those guys don't feel the wrath. That is a direct response from the US commissioner and US owners. The thing I find unfortunate is that the Canadian owners don't get together and demand changes or threaten action. The US brings nothing to the NHL, it is a gate driven sport, very little is made from TV revenues. I love how when someone bought Winnipeg and Quebec they were able to run off with team without a fight from Bettman, but when Baisille had an aggrement to buy Pheonix for about 80 million more than they got it was a resounding no. They need a commisioner who can sell the game and knows hockey, not some dude who came over from the trashiest biggest ghetto league known as the NBA. I would love to see Gretzky or Messier in that role, not some punk ass lawyer.

Yeah... any NHL goaltender would have won that game against Russia, but Marty wasn't all that sharp in the Swiss game (besides the shootout), and looked bad against the US.

I think that Luongo gives them their best chance today, but as a US fan, I'm hoping that the Canadian team that shows up today is the one who played the last half of the 3rd period against Slovakia.
If both teams 'show up' (and really there's only one team with a question mark above it's head for that) it should make for quite a good game.
Do you really think Canada won't show up? I have know doubt we'll show up to play, I also have no doubt the US will show up to play. The problem isn't always showing up, the other teams always get up for us, it's how
how we respond. Just remember win or lose the sun will come up tomorrow. Lose you might want to stay away from this board for a while :D;). We should feel much better that Getzlaf is playing a lot better, he brings Mark Messier type attitude to the team.
Well they've really only 'showed up' for a game and a half the entire tournament.
Maybe Singularity is onto something when he says we have a great bunch of individuals. Granted that game and half saw some chemistry brewing between certain players.
I hope we bring it with lots of intensity and don't let up.

ESPN just had a report stating that the Canadian liquor stores are closing at 2 PM today ... they usually close at 6.

Not sure if that was in the immediate Vancouver area or all over the country.

    Anyway ... LET'S GO USA!!!

US really only has one chance: Ryan Miller steals it again. Now that there is something on the line I doubt that he can steal it.

Hoping for a super close back and forth game though -- I don't want to see a blowout on either end.

That's because you are so anti-american that it makes me sick. what did an american ever do to you? If the US wins i'll be very happy but i'll feel for for Canada since most of your nation wants it so bad. I will however delight in the thought of you crying in your timbits.

First let me say that a VAST majority of the Canadians I know, including those on this board, don't fit the following ...

Some Canadians have shown a really poor side of themselves during this olympics. I was watching the men's curling final yesterday (yeah, I said that) and in the beginning fo the match, during the final throws of the 2nd end, a pretty crucial time .... someone in the stands blasted an airhorn during the Norwegians shot ... not once, but twice.

Now, many of the folks in the stands were booing that person, and hopefully they pointed them out and they got escorted out ... but damn, between that, cheering so loud to drown out the communication of the Danish women's team (to the point they made the girl freakin' cry) ... and booing the Americans during their last 2 hockey games ... it's been a pretty poor showing for some Canadians.

I agree Canada fans has showed bad taste threw out the games. Nothing would be sweeter then beating them today for the gold. It's going to be a really good game, I'm excited. :D

The air horn thing is bs, but that's one guy...the other examples of poor sportsmanship? Boo frickin hoo....cheering too loud? Booing a rival hockey team? Aaaaaawwwww

The US athletes got the second loudest ovation at the opening ceremonies. The closing will be no different....which is pretty good considering the fact ur a homicidal empire bent on world domination, who NEVER misses a chance to take a cheap shot at the country that is above you ;)
