there's this, too, from ESPN the Magazine:

The Justice Department says there are chapters of Crips in 221 cities in 41 states. Most of them, plus other crews such as the Latin Aspects and the clearly hat-obsessive Gangster Disciples, wear Dodger blue, making this the gang world's most popular headgear.

yeah, really a team to root for...

It's just all the Raider fans converting to Dodger fans! It's sad...

If that shit happened in Philly ESPN would be crucifying Phila. fans for weeks. There are plenty of stories about douche-bag Dodgers fans in the 2008 & 2009 NLCS's. Hey, they won 2 games combined in those series.

Really liked that swing from Brandon Belt. Just curious is he here as a replacement for Cody Ross until his DL stint is over or are they planning on him all season (assuming he hits well).

i am by no means an expert on the giants but i've seen a few at bats from belt this week and in spring training and i am impressed with him too.

i think they were going to move ross to left and bench burrell to make room for belt before ross got hurt. could be wrong though...

The thing I really like about Belt is his patience. He's taken a lot of tough pitches from Kershaw and Billingsley in 2 nights.

I'm guessing these two weeks are a try out, if he does well, he stays, if not, back to AAA for seasoning. He's got options left.

Heck, he could come out of the gates hot and then really start to struggle the second time around the league, and be sent down in May ... he's going to have to do it all year.

But as long as he is up with the Giants, he's going to play over Burrell and Ross most nights.

Doh ... Sox had him at one point.

I was actually looking forward to seeing him in AAA this year. I cant make it to SF but can see Fresno when they travel to Salt Lake. Oh well, there always Denver... and the rest of the squad of Grizzlies.

ESPN announcers were actually humming circus music.

They showed a collage of highlights of the Giants' "defense' which I initially thought was from the whole series, but turns out it was just the first game.

This is really sad. It's not looking good for this guy who was put in an induced coma. The Giants are dedicating the home opener weekend to him. I hope he pulls through!

As for the Giants, let's GO!!!

yeah, walk offs are great but we could use a laugher today. with zito going, I doubt that's gonna happen (even tho I'm not a zito hater).

You are in luck. You never have to see them again. :). I thought Zito looked okay against the Do**ers, minus the 3 run shot he gave up to Kemp. Hopefully he can just keep us close.
