well i blocked the manager from seeing my posts and stuff....however i wake up today to find out that he suggested i like some random band. forget what they are called. point is, since i sit right next to him i'm gonna be forced to have an awkward, yet brief, stupid conversation about this "suggestion."

    great. looking forward to that.

i would never accept an invite from a boss. never. i woud polietly inform them i use it for family only. i barely use it to begin with, and don't post anything bad about my company on it (or any website). but still, you have to draw the line.

    why can't everyone fuck off?
i can't believe someone's boss would beg them to be facebook jerk-off buddies.
    this is odd shit.

i personally would have almost zero dialogue to trade with them once away from the work place.

    hi, hello
    how are you?
    im frickin swell, thanks.

makes no sense to me at all.

not as bad as a current supervisor who sits 4 feet behind you.

i learned that he's also facebook friends with a few of the other guys who sit around me too. makes it less awkward that we're all awkward about the same thing...if that makes any sense.

Jeags, it sounds like you should just abandon the Facebook ship... :?

I've had to decline multiple co-workesr mainly because I jsut don't want them knowing too much about me outside of work...A) I don't want them to know certain things and B) I'm just not friends with everyone I meet and work with.

However after doing so, there is that feeling that they look at you and say "WHAT? WHy aren't we FB friends? Did I do something?"

family is ok - just another way to keep in touch

bosses/coworkers is not ok - they have from 7 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday to communicate with me....if they can't find time during those times, then oh well too bad for them

I used to have a very strict rule.

    Family / Friends = Facebook

Coworkers or former coworkers (basically my career network) = Linkedin

The problem is the farther I have gotten into my career, the friends/career contacts line has become quite gray. Lucky for me I guess, I am the same person at work as I am outside of work so there hasn't been any surprises for anyone that I know of. I'm a pretty private person anyway so if I post something it typically has nothing to do with me or my life.
