well i blocked the manager from seeing my posts and stuff....however i wake up today to find out that he suggested i like some random band. forget what they are called. point is, since i sit right next to him i'm gonna be forced to have an awkward, yet brief, stupid conversation about this "suggestion."
great. looking forward to that.

i would never accept an invite from a boss. never. i woud polietly inform them i use it for family only. i barely use it to begin with, and don't post anything bad about my company on it (or any website). but still, you have to draw the line.

damn it. one of my supervisors from a job i left 4 years ago is trying to add me. damn it.
not as bad as a current supervisor who sits 4 feet behind you.
i learned that he's also facebook friends with a few of the other guys who sit around me too. makes it less awkward that we're all awkward about the same thing...if that makes any sense.

Jeags, it sounds like you should just abandon the Facebook ship... :?
I've had to decline multiple co-workesr mainly because I jsut don't want them knowing too much about me outside of work...A) I don't want them to know certain things and I'm just not friends with everyone I meet and work with.
However after doing so, there is that feeling that they look at you and say "WHAT? WHy aren't we FB friends? Did I do something?"

it really is writing new rules for human communication...especially for us old heads. imagine different things will be in 15-20 years once all these young bucks who grew up with im/facebook etc being common place are running things.
I set up a dodgy account for friends etc who needed more bodies for games......my 14yo nephew wanted more nighbours for some game so I added him to this dodgy acc...now he's wanting me to add him to my regular acc, along with his 11yo brother and his mum (who I have rejected about 3-4 times already!!!)......eeekkk ....my regular acc is whre I go to get away from my family!! :? Oh dear what have I done????
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now my manager is my friend on facebook.
guy is kinda douchey...but sits right next to me. got the friend request out of the blue sunday. accepted it yesterday morning. and then he writes a douchey happy birthday post last night. awesome.
You should be thankful you have a manager to be FB friends with.

bosses/coworkers is not ok - they have from 7 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday to communicate with me....if they can't find time during those times, then oh well too bad for them
Coworkers or former coworkers (basically my career network) = Linkedin
The problem is the farther I have gotten into my career, the friends/career contacts line has become quite gray. Lucky for me I guess, I am the same person at work as I am outside of work so there hasn't been any surprises for anyone that I know of. I'm a pretty private person anyway so if I post something it typically has nothing to do with me or my life.
dear the jeagler,
do you think it'd be a good idea
for me to invite your mom to be my friend?
smiles and hugs,
chad
no.
you're no fun.
i think your mother and i could be good friends.
does she enjoy poetry at all?
do you slip in a pearl jam cd in when she's over or in the car?
