Should I be on facebook? Everyone around me keeps telling me to join. I keep holding on to the idea that I will be the only one that's not on it eventually. I wouldn't mind contacting some people from my past, but not everyone. I also don't want to have to use that, texting, or a cell phone as my main means of communication. Whatever happend to meeting with people one on one or in a group to talk about what's going on?

Do I just hate technological advances or am I right?
No, you have a point. I'm not on Facebook yet but I see myself doing it soon. I see some real advantages to it, because many of my friends in other states are on it and gripe that "I'm the ONLY one" who isn't. I'd prefer to stay in touch in person with most of my friends but I also see the advantages of technology. I've also made great friendships literally all over the world through different message boards, etc. I think it mostly depends on how you balance your time online and how you decide to use Facebook. It's easy to get too preoccupied with ANYTHING. :ugeek:

My son refuses to add me to his FB friends - and frankly I wouldn't want to either. I don't think either of us want to see each other's, um, escapades.

    "Friend your mother.

We learned this with e-mail, that you should never write anything that you don't want the world to read. This is doubly true on Facebook, since you have no control over who might copy a statement or picture and pass it on. The first safeguard is to never write such posts. The second is to friend your mother, to make sure."

My mom just posted this gem:
"Yea, I had to clean up that yard! You don't evan want 2 no what all was in it. I've been pissing out my ass since I got here, my refer on high is maintaining a very unsafe temp of 41 degrees! Ans I'm paying $1075 rent and utilities, not including TV and entertainment for the pleasure! If you saw the picture I did, this place is nice compared 2 the rest of the town."
