The 2006 tour was the start of their piecemeal tour announcements. Announcing one leg a time so everyone freaks out and buys all the tickets. And then they announce Leg 2 and so on.

And 2006 was not a full tour. Of the world, yes. But of the US, hardly. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

I miss 2003. Haven't had a full tour since then.

The last time this band put on a full tour of the United States was 2003. And the whole fucking tour was announced at once. I don't understand how anyone can argue this point.

they at least announced entire legs, and not 1-2 shows every other week. we knew other legs would be coming in 06. 09 we had ZERO insight into what was being planned.

riiiight. like the mythical 06 southern leg? and the first leg may have been announced at once but the second leg was pretty piecemeal if I remember correctly....

I agree 09 we had zero insight. things have only gone downhill in this regard since 06, IMO>

But they make a profit. Therefore they should follow the same guidelines.

They sell merchandise, tickets are sold through the band directly so they don't deal with any tack on fees, they have poster sales, bootleg sales iphone apps and contests that they don't follow through on (cough, t-shirt design contest). That is all for their profit and our material / musical experience gain (except the contest). We are their most loyal customers. In any other business, if the most loyal customers were treated less than the best the business can give, they'd leave. But you don't leave when you're obsessively attached. 10C knows that.

This is what we expect when we join 10C:
    MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Our promise to do our darndest to get you the absolute BEST tickets in the house to Pearl Jam shows around the world.
Access to Ten Club members-only merchandise like limited edition silk-screened posters from Pearl Jam tours.
A holiday 45 RPM vinyl single with songs not found anywhere else.
Pearl Jam's full-color printed DEEP Magazine mailed to you
Full access to the Pearl Jam Online Community
    Members-only contests and giveaways

10C does do their best with the tickets, it's well worth the $20, and the chance to win the lottery is awesome.
    The poster thing, OK.
A 'holiday' single. Well, which holiday is it for 10C??? If it's for Cinco de Mayo, just tell us. We somehow think you mean Christmas, yet you don't live up to this promise, according to your Benefits.
DEEP comes once a year, yes.
Full access to online community, which used to be FREE.
And I already wrote about the supposed contests...that aren't always followed through on. Why aren't you doing your part of the bargain here? Giveaways? WHERE?

    Now how about some answers???

Bingo. I completely agree with you.

I love this band to death. I really do. But they have really frustrated me the past couple of years to the point where I give up being passionate about it. I go to some shows, etc. and I have my message pit friends that I love. But beyond that, whatever.

If you don't like the system then drop your membership. It's as easy as that. I like how I can get tickets to any show from them and fully enjoy my christmas album!!!!!! You could say their philosophy has rubbed off onto my family. My christmas cards are going out this week!!! Actually they are now call "enjoy the New Year" cards.

you missed the point, completely...regardless of whether a fan opts to renew or drop their 10c membership, there is no noble justification for the piecemeal tour announcements

again, this has nothing to do with 10c membership or annual dues, the fact is that the system is flawed, and we as "customers" have the right to express dissatisfaction, which, depending on the amount of value the organization places on its customers, should impact the way in which it operates

The best (and most likely only) way to change things, actually, is to speak up about it. It's pretty apparent that the band and management could give two craps less about their fans, and merely care about their finances. You guys REALLY want to change things though? Talk with your wallets - withdraw from the Ten Club if you don't like this. The promise I made to myself is that if I'm feeling as bitter about this poor management at the end of 2010 as I am now, I'll be out of here. Raising prices of everything, and lowering the quality of the services the fan club provides, has ensured much less customer satisfaction in a customer satisfaction business than there ought to be.

Geez, it's made out to be a matter of life and death on here

I used to think I was a lunatic pearl jam fan

remember when this used to be a hobby

I'll reiterate once again, no matter what the tenclub do these days this fanbase will never be happy. They really have mission impossible. That's been very evident over the last few years where the mood on this board has changed dramatically from fun to that of daily whining threads about everything and anything

tenclub are not perfect, but we'll never know what they are given to work with.
