well, he is the first Starling in MLB history. that has to be worth something. nothing wrong with hitting 300 with out power. i'd take that all day out of my SS. but he just kills them in the field. leads the majors in E's and stepping off the bag for force outs

half the team looks like the woudl rather be at the beach (Aram i'm looking at you) and the other half should be playing in triple A. (Colvin...oh wait he is now)

and first in E's. it's great that he can hit, but they should have left him down to work on his fielding...not that they have anybody on the big league roster than can play ss

    tweet tweet

if he can ever learn to field and become a little more patient at the plate and stop swinging at everything, he'll be a solid player for years to come. he if doesn't do that, he'll be just anouther average player in the long line of one hit wonders produced by the cubs farm system. Jerome Walton, i'm looking at you.

    Oh cmon...

The fucking kid is 10th in the Major Leagues in hitting...
And you think he should be in the minors working on his fielding?? Really??

How about he works on his fielding in the major leagues? Playing for a team that may lose 100 games? This team is a fucking disgrace, and the one guy you are giving shit to is the 21 year old kid who is hitting his ass off???

    Fucking Sox fans.....hehehe

    Soriano is a bum...
    Soto is a bum...
    Ramirez has 5 homers...
    Zambrano is a bum...
Fukudome is the most overpaid player in the game today.....

And you decide to give the 21 year old shortstop who is hitting .320 a hard time????

    Fucking Sox fans....

if they had a SS that could play every day and hit 280 or mabye even 270 without all the boots, then yes, they should have left him down to learn to field, when to not make the throw and the importance of having your foot on the bag when recording a force out.

but the fact that the entire team is pathetic (i think you agree on that statement), than it's doesn't really matter where he learns, so long as he learns. 35 errors does not cut it on a good team. btw, last year, he has 27 in 123 games which is 35.5 over 162, so there really hasn't even been the improvement there.

it's also interesting to note, that while his batting average is up 20 points over last year, is on base % is up .001

all that said, i agree that they have much bigger issues than SS.

    Dunn is painful to watch.

if he's not swinging at a bad pitch, he's not swining at good pitch to hit.

    So what is Dunn's problem??

Too old? Or rather has gotten real old real quick....
Too fat? Face it the guy is out of shape....
Sox hitting coach have him all fucked up?
    League change??

    What is this guys problem??

Cuz face it Sox fans, its almost July 1st, and this guy is hitting .190? What you see is what you get.
This guy will be LUCKY to hit 20-25 dingers this year. And there is a good chance he wont hit .200.....

he's hitting 175 thru yesterday. pathetic.

i'm not a hitting coach, but it seems like his mind isn't right. he watchs hittable pitchs land in the catchers glove and wiffs at bad pitchs.

he's changed his pre pitch stance a little. early in the season he would hold the bat so it was nearly verticle behind his back. it's now much more level before he gets into his hitting motion. i still think it's all in the head

ozzy sat him for a couple of games, played him at first, but it might be time to give him a week off.

Didn't he have a much more open stance before? It seems like his right shoulder is too far in/closed for a predominantly pull hitter.
But yeah, I do think 95% of it is in his head. That's got to be tough to not only have the worst slump of your career, but to hear it from the fans as well. Oh well...all part of the game.

how many times has adam dunn registered four or more official AB's in a game this season without striking out? -- zero. amazing.

how many times has adam dunn registered three or more official AB's in a game this season without striking out? -- three.

dude's on pace to have 82 hits and 197 strikeouts.

i don't think a player has ever come close to having less than 100 hits and more than 200 strikeouts in a season. crazy.

that said, i was hoping the cubs would sign him this past offseason and put him at first base.

if prince and pujols cost too much, i would be a proponent for the cubs buying low -- very low -- on dunn this offseason... maybe the sox would be willing to eat a shit ton of his contract.
