I'm pleased by anything that begins to usher out the current ownership. Hope this move is a small step in that direction.

Too bad the new minority partner won't be able to shut Old Man Wilpon's trap.

i remember Einhorn for the 06 WSOP very well and was very happy to see he was/is a mets fan. the thing that worries me is once again its someone bud sorta knows coming into the fold to fix this mess. i often wonder just how much of a different franchise it be under doubleday. it always bothered me how much coupon loved the dodgers. if ya loved em so much ya shoulda fucking bought them and not the mets. can't wait till Einhorn fully owns the team. hope it's soon very soon

When told that Einhorn is a card player, like a handful of the Mets, pitcher Mike Pelfrey joked that he would reserve a spot for him in their games. "He can come to the back of the plane," Pelfrey said. "Tell him to bring his wallet.

    LOVE IT

At least Collins is giving us good material. Can't help but laugh at him wagging his tongue all over.

The 7th inning last night was brutal. Couldn't catch a break, against the Pirates no less.

Maybe they'll bounce back in the day game. Or maybe Collins will go on another rant.

shoulda never taken out niese. horrible move by collins.

i truly believe this franchise is jinxed and it all started with bum knees beltran starring at the curveball in game 7 of the 06 nlcs. i often wonder what woulda happen with this franchise had beltran gotten that winning run in that game and they go onto the world series and win it.

I sometimes think about those pitches freezing Delgado & Beltran. Wainwright straight-up owned them in the 9th. It seems a bit other-worldly, all these years later. How could they have stood in that batters' box and just watched? Certainly, I'm biased, but I have trouble imagining the Mets wouldn't have beaten the Tigers in 5 games (just like the Cards did). But they never got there, so we'll never know.

The curse on the franchise isn't 5 years old, it's 50 years old. The Mets are doomed for eternity, and--God help us--we've gone all-in w/ them. Think about it: they don't win unless really strange, once-in-a-lifetime things happen to them over and over again. And even then, it may not be enough.

In '69, it took a black cat and a huge collapse from the Cubs to get the Mets into the postseason. Then, it took a shoe polish trick and some flawed umpiring to get them the World Series victory. In '86, they had to outlast that cheater Mike Scott in the NLCS. Wild pitches and Buckner's bad ankles gave them Game 6 of the World Series. In '88, Hershiser was bullet-proof and almost won the pennant by himself. In '99, Rogers walks the series-winning run home one game after Ventura wins one w/a grand slam that only counted for one run. In 2000, the Mets crushed the Giants and the Cardinals but couldn't do a damn thing w/ the Yankees. And then there's the '06 NLCS where they left the bats on their shoulders in the most important situation of any game, basically throwing a fat middle finger @Endy Chavez's catch to keep them in it.

Fluky, weird-ass, disappointing things are the norm with the Amazins. After 26 seasons, I've come to accept it as their fate. I'm not going anywhere, but at some point in the past 5 seasons I resigned myself to it and don't get too upset anymore.

if you're talking about the one that aired on MSG network, that was unwatchable. i saw the first episode in March and my three problems were this:

1 - commercials every five minutes
2 - no interviews with anyone involved players/broadcasters/writers
    3 - no footage

It was like sitting and listening to celeb Met fans do a reading of the "Bad Guys Won", which on the other hand is a tremendous book.
