I think the reason why the European dates are being announced now is simpler than all of that. There are playing so many festivals, and festivals always announce their lineups well in advance. It would make sense then to announce the whole tour at once.

If there is a US tour announced, my guess would be that it's before the European tour.

to all you nerdy accountants, you dont know what the fiscal year is for PJ, and I highly doubt that they are motivated by year end numbers (unless they think that good buddy Obama might increase the corporate tax next year :lol: )

I told y'all, they announced Europe first so that the Europeans would buy tix to the Euro shows rather than the US shows ;)

    US tour april may

and It wouldnt surprise me if there were some South America or Asia dates before then

just speculation, but it makes some sense, since most are large festival dates

why so early? 6, 7 months in advance? I was shocked when U2 put tix on sale for a July date at Soldier Field a couple weeks ago. seems like PJ isnt too far behind.
That's the thing. It isn't all that early. Given the Europe dates, if a US/Canada tour is announced in the next 2 weeks, it would almost surely be BEFORE Europe, so likely mid April to the end of May. That is really only 4 months early, which is typical for Pearl Jam.

it would be AWESOME to know the dates this far in advance, and i am a-ok with ticket sales in december or january for april or may shows. this is my dead period at work, so no issues trying for tickets, and would LOVE to know i have tix for shows for my hometown NY shows. *fingers crossed* 8-)

You may be disappointed. Depending on the number of shows that they even decide to play in the north east, I think Hartford is likely to be skipped. They have to hit Boston, NYC, Albany and DC. After that, I think it is more likely that the venture to places like Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo, places they haven't played since '06 or longer. Hartford got a show in '06 and '08, so I could see it getting skipped this time around.

i sincerely hope IF we do get shows in april, may or june....that ticket sales are BEFORE march, simply from my own selfish perspective - work gets crazy march 1st thru april 15th - that much more difficult for me to try and score 10c tix. so i am ALL for early ticket sales now, january, february....:)

Couldn't agree more. I was at the '00 show, which I think was the last time they played the SPAC.... beautiful town.

Me too. And if there is a Hartford show this year, the choice of venue will likely determine if I go or not...

Interesting point about Hartford. SPAC would be awesome but they won't do Albany and Saratoga. Count me in for Albany or Saratoga, Hartford, Boston. What they should do is play Maine. They haven't played Maine for forever. Great show there in '96, right?

I can see a Hartford show in '10. If Europe can get show's in '06, '07, '09 & '10, some cities they have already played 4 times already, Hartford then is right up there. I had a great time in Hartford '08. I hope to be there again soon! :)

I would love to see them play some smaller east coast cities that they've either never played or haven't played in the last decade. Places like Rhode Island, Maine, Delaware, New Hampshire or West Virginia. They should throw at least one of these places in to the mix every time they tour the east coast.

That's a great point too...There is a new venue that opened for one show this summer called Mountain Park in Holyoke, MA. My sister and I saw the Decemberists there. It was essentially a rocky hill overlooking the woods. Amazing. That would be a great venue to see PJ in the northeast but seems remote at best. PJ played a great show in Augusta, Maine in '96. There is an arena in Manchester, NH that might fit them, but probably not. I have a buddy that saw the only PJ show ever in the state of Rhode Island at a venue called the Rocky Point Palladium. The problem is that Great Woods, the Garden and the Meadows are the only venues that PJ works logistically in the Northeast.
