Thumbs up to the two that stood up against this. There should be more reporters like this. Although I have to wonder, did all the other news networks air this story? Chances are, they dealt with it the same way but all their reporters either took a bribe or just reported the story the way their managers told them to. My guess is we know about this because Foxnews actually had a couple reporters with dignity and decided to spill it out to the public, unlike other networks. Not standing up for Foxnews in this case but a big ol' atta boy to the two foxnews reporters that heald their ground. These two should have their own national news show, their ratings would probably go through the roof. The American people need reporters we can trust.

This was a local story covered by FOX subsidiary WTVT 13 in Tampa, Florida about local practices in the milk farming industry.
This is the prepared statement after the two reporters were fired upon direction of FOX News Headquarters in New York:

  • so the other day i caught part of fox news(sic) talking about a new superbug to be afraid of, their medical expert, manny rameriez or whatever, gave some ways to protect yourself from it....these two really stood out to me

-massive immigration (because we don't know what all these people have and are bringing over here)

-don't go to a hospital abroad (he said hospital acquired infections killed so many people and in europe and elsewhere their health system isn't as good as ours so stay away!)

i looked up the hospital acquired infections and it seems manny has it wrong

first, this is 4 years old but...

Europe is killing off hospital infections. Why isn't the United States following suit?

but this one stood out most of all
    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/27/busin ... g34XVmluJA

Health authorities do not have good figures on how many infections and deaths in the United States are caused by Gram-negative bacteria. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that roughly 1.7 million hospital-associated infections, from all types of bacteria combined, cause or contribute to 99,000 deaths each year.

But in Europe, where hospital surveys have been conducted, Gram-negative infections are estimated to account for two-thirds of the 25,000 deaths each year caused by some of the most troublesome hospital-acquired infections, according to a report released in September by health authorities there.

so, i turned on the tv and flipped around for a few minutes at one point landing on hannity who had on that 'lying sack of shit' dick morris. hannity asked him what would be the best campaign ad the republicans could put out he replied with an ad he did for christine o'donnell (not sure if it was made or he just pitched her the idea) of being halloween themed and showing clips of people like rachel maddow saying 'witchcraft' and while they do all this talking about it the real black magic is happening here (where there'll be a pic of the capitol and white house and pics of democrats) with these witches brewing up a cauldron of voodoo budgets and yadda yadda yadda

what i found most amusing was how he and hannity kept referring to it as 'allegations of witchcraft'. merriam webster defines 'allegation' as

    1: the act of alleging
2: a positive assertion; specifically : a statement by a party to a legal action of what the party undertakes to prove
3: an assertion unsupported and by implication regarded as unsupportable <vague allegations of misconduct>

she's the one that said it, how is that an allegation?

Nope. You will see liberals on this board me included make fun of msnbc. Commy does...Cosmo does, but they are not relevant.

Lovers of Tea post links to fox and hold Hannity, Beck et al in high regard.

forgive me and those of us that try to actively pursue the truth and consult other countries' newspapers and media to find out what is relly happening in the world. god knows none of that stuff is reported in the US media, especially not on fox...but if you feel i am biased by reading and pursuing the truth, then it is your problem and nobody else's....

yes....fox pushes issues and policies to the right. Just like msnbc, cnn, comedy central  etc... pushes issues and policies to the left. But you and many other people take issue with only one side of the problem. So if you don't like what they say it's a sham, if you happen to agree with it it must be the truth. ALL political media is biased bullshit, so why would it be that there is a thread on here with 16 pages only about Fox?......naahhh, no biased bullshit going on here

i never said msnbc did not push things to the left. this thread is about fox news and how it thinks that its viewers are stupid when they obviously doctor footage and doctor stories that are not true, ahem cough, breitbart videos cough...etc...

but msnbc has more credibility with people who actually read hard news and just because fox viewers say anything that msnbc is "lies" even in the face of the truth does not mean it is true. so if i read the guardian is it lies or is it truth? i can pretty much god damn guarantee that it is more objective and truthful than anything to come off of fox news. for one, it does not read at a 3rd grade level, so that is a start. and two it is written objectively and is very hardly biased. the saddest part of all of this is that nowadays people are unable to distinguish op-ed from factual news.

an to answer your question, yes the conservatives made "liberal" a scary and nasty word. i'm a proud liberal. i do not see how conservatives in this day and age would call themselves conservative because it looks to me like the "conservatives" in our government are uninterested in conserving anything...

Coming from somebody who recieves their information from Media Matters. You can continue to try to convince yourself and others (which on this web site will not be hard)that you are not biased and judge all political networks....but I call bullshit. can you name one? not trying to single anyone out but i can't think of one person who appears to be pro obama who has not been critical of his leadership/policies in some way and yet you talk as though there are plenty?

oh so you are gonna call bullshit :lol:
obama makes himself look like a republican because of HIS policies. they are essentially the same policies as those before him. i disagree with many of them, but you know what? he is 1000% better than what old man mccain and dim bulb palin would be doing.

and first of all you don't know me. you don't know where i get my information. i go to media matters and factcheck occasionally only to counter all of the bullshit and lies that fox puts out there and to debunk the outrageously false things that some posters, yourself included, post here as if they were true. when i see outright BS i research it and can sometimes debunk it, and sometimes i can't. i post articles from msnbc because it has the widest variety of stories of all of the american news sites and they post about things i have an interest in, mainly israel-palestine and what our congress is doing. i post from the guardian because it is a great news site with reporters that actually investigate and report what they find. you should maybe look to other sources outside of your own country once in awhile. it MIGHT give you a new perspective on what is really going on in the world that is not reported in the US.

you don't even know if i watch cable news. fact is, i don't. i can't stand to watch opinion with a smattering of edited facts to fit a certain agenda. i have voiced my disdain for all cable networks at some point on this board, but i am not going to search through my 3700 something posts just to make a point to you. you should stop making so many assumptions, because you should know what happens when you assume....

also you have yet to provide any links or any information to back up your claims that fox is a legitimate news source, is unbiased, and that the other networks are so incredibly biased. until you do, you should not try to talk to me about what media is biased or not. it has been duely noted in this thread and a hundred others that fox news is a sham.

I can totally agree with this. How can you be in a country like this and not be critical of your President whether you voted for him or whether you didn't. It can only help to keep him and his administration on their toes that the citizenry are mindful of his policies.

i was just going to post this as yet another example of how a simple fact check before running with this story could have saved fox yet another embarrassment....it is just simply reckless reporting...and predictably the sheep reporters fell for it...the LAPD does not even have a billion dollar budget, and everyone knows the state of california is broke, so how can they afford these things? besides, there are only a small number or working prototypes, so how can an order for 10,000 of them be filled?? are there even 10,000 cops on the LAPD force??

difference between fox and all the other stations is ...

that fox is willing to lie and manipulate to serve not only a corporate agenda but a political one as well ... yes, all the other stations have corporate affiliations but you can't compare how low on the journalistic integrity front fox will go ...

all those pundits they have would totally get owned in any real life debate on any topic ...

I'm assuming that everyone railing against Fox must be watching it, correct? Therefore perhaps contributing to their ratings and success?

If you are not watching it, then are you relying on snippets collected by others which may paint an unfair view?

    Just curious, that's all.

i think everyone here has watched fox for an extended period of time at some point in our adult lives and are willing to bet that we made up our own minds and did not rely "on snippets collected by others which may pain an unfair view"....

when your network is owned by rupert murdoch, and your on air "talent" includes bill o'reilly, glenn beck, sean hannity, sarah palin, mike huckabee, etc. there is definitely an agenda there...

does anyone remember when they showed the rally with video footage from a different rally in a different season???? that was early in THIS thread...how about the time when Fox and Friends misled their viewers with a "questionable graphic" that showed the results of a Rasmussen Reports climate change poll adding up to 120%??? and let's not forget what scott mcclellan, former bush press secretary said in his book that the bush administration routinely gave fox news reporters and on air talent talking points to relay on their tv shows to influence opinion...

when your network is owned by rupert murdoch, and your on air "talent" includes bill o'reilly, glenn beck, sean hannity, sarah palin, mike huckabee, etc. there is definitely an agenda there...

does anyone remember when they showed the rally with video footage from a different rally in a different season???? that was early in THIS thread...how about the time when Fox and Friends misled their viewers with a "questionable graphic" that showed the results of a Rasmussen Reports climate change poll adding up to 120%??? and let's not forget what scott mcclellan, former bush press secretary said in his book that the bush administration routinely gave fox news reporters and on air talent talking points to relay on their tv shows to influence opinion...
As far as their talent, the main agenda that murdoch seems to be gunning for is getting more eyeballs on his network. However, I do see a problem arising if any of the talent announces a bid for 2012. It will be interesting to see how that is handled.

As far as talking points, don't all politicians try to influence media and opinion by releasing favorable points to the media? The white house even went as far as trying to discredit Fox as a news agency (however I do find it odd that they moved Fox into the front row of the media gallery). And I recall certain networks getting special access privileges as long as the obama team was happy with them. I'm sure Bush did it. Obama is doing it. And soon, Palin will be doing it. (kidding ;) . . . maybe  )

My point is that Fox caters to the right and a network like MSNBC caters to the left. People on the right think that Fox is balanced and MSNBC is disreputable network pushing a liberal agenda. And people on the left think that MSNBC is balanced and the Fox is a disreputable network pushing a conservative agenda. I know that you probably have a laundry list of mistakes and lies that have been reported on Fox news . . . my conservative friends have the same list for MSNBC.

I just see it as two networks doing all they can to appeal to a certain demographic to rake in more advertising money. Personally, I can't stand either network. I just recently turned my cable back on and was disgusted by the "fear" that these 24/7 networks push so that you keep watching. Even ESPN's Sportscenter is bugging me out right now.

I'm assuming that everyone railing against Fox must be watching it, correct? Therefore perhaps contributing to their ratings and success?

If you are not watching it, then are you relying on snippets collected by others which may paint an unfair view?

    i think polaris_x nailed it.

and it's difficult again to work out what point you are trying to make. watching fox news every now and then along with the other "news outlets" doesn't mean someone is contributing to their ratings and success. if someone is critical of them and making people aware of their idiocy and blatant lies and fear tactics they use in their reporting, well that is hardly contributing to their success.

i prefer to watch/read things from all avenues and then make an informed decision based on that. that goes for any media outlets. you don't need to watch fox 24/7 or MSNBC to realize that they are not always fair, balanced or truthful.

the jetpacks are coming! the jetpacks are coming

the funniest bit is when Brian Kilmeade said "you gotta make up some rules because you're going to have jetpacks flying into choppers!"

oh and when they said that the LAPD were buying 10,000 of them at a cost of $100,000 each. they really think the LAPD has a lazy billion dollars just sitting around for jetpacks. for serious?

    oh my.
