spinning my dads old records ...some not been played for 20 years..some of its so good remember it as a kid.
cheers dad
I know what you mean man. My dad let me borrow a few of his records and it was a very unique father/son experience.
Also, some friends and I were asking each other what our "go to album" is. Both my dad and I share the same go to album without ever sharing info: Deja Vu
Props on the Thelonius Monk, Roadtripper.
I just got Neil Young Everybody knows this is nowwhere and self titled first one on the reissue. They store had After the Gold Rush and Harvest but I didnt go for it since I have decent copies of the old ones. Also snagged a whole bunch of 99cent records all in good condition:
JT: sweet baby james and some greatest hits collection
Eric Clapton Slowhand
The Smithereens Especially for You
54.40 self titled and Show Me
Stevie Wonder In Square Circle
CSNY So Far
Drivin and Cryin Whisper Tames the Lion
Little Feat Down on the Farm which I had never heard of but my friend seems to think they are one of the original jam bands and told me to buy it...
"Kill The Moonlight" (new) Spoon
"Life's Rich Pageant" (used) REM
"Disintegraton" (new 2 LP reissue) The Cure
"An Innocent Man" (used)Billy Joel (sorry I had to it was only $3)
Also, has anyone picked up the remastered "Unforgetable Fire" by U2? The record store had the original version for $7.99 and the reissued LP that was released earlied this year for $24.99. Is the re-issue worth the extra $?
Remasters are weird. I have not listened to the U2 remaster vinyls. I think that they were remastered for CD, so in that case I would say no and go with the old one, even if they were the same price. I bought both the Reckoning and Murmur remasters for like 24 bucks a piece and I listen to the old used copies I got for around 8 bucks. They were remastered for CD and they even say digitally remastered on them which is a bad sign. Theres usually no reason to remaster original analog copies. I did just get the newly remastered Neil Young self titled and Everybody... I'll post here how they sound when I listen to them. I don't understand why some of these digitally remastered things are released on vinyl when they sound like the CD.
Thanks for that tip. I went ahead and went with the used original "Unforgettable Fire" and the vinyl sounds pretty damn good to me. Thanks for saving me $20

Innocent man is a record I remember jamming to with my dad when I was really young. I found it very cheap also

As amazing as Aenima sounds on vinyl this sounds just as bad. I think the music itself sounds pretty decent, but that noise floor is just murdering it.

Awesome.
I agree completely my friend!
I have this vinyl and the sound quality sucks. It's almost unlistenable. I was very disappointed because it's a really cool package.

I heard about Iron & Wine (uhm, actually one song ) recently, how is this one?
really good---it's a long EP. great melodies & guitar playing. you can't really go wrong with any of the stuff he's put out, in my opinion.
