Went to a record fair today:

    PETER-GABRIEL-PASSION-LP-(VINYL-ALBUM)-US-GEFFEN-1989.jpg

Peter Gabriel, Passion (music to The Last Temptation of Christ)

    timeout.jpg

    double clear vinyl

    $(KGrHqUOKn!E1S)vR130BNlnTo1S(!~~_35.JPG

I got this not knowing a thing about it. I thought it might be a bootleg released back in the day - but having had a scout around here, I see this is starting to do the rounds - released 2011. Not listened yet. 1990 studio rehearsal apparently.

That's not your actual picture is it? I know YOU wouldn't hold a record like that!

Hope not, hate to see people hold records like that.

Nah, it's nicked from the Wishlist Foundation website ;)

Yeah baby! I've been doing some serious spinning this weekend.

I just played the Time Out of Mind - I was in a trance for most of it! I always think of that as a recent album, it's one of my favourites that I play many times in a year - but I was remembering I went to see him in concert on that tour - and when I think back to that it seems forever ago. Recorded music keeps it fresh in your mind I guess. I love music! :D

Elliott Smith is a great songwriter, most of his early stuff is lo-fi, acoustic guitar type of songs, but then when he had a full band play on his albums, the songs were even better. He mostly writes guitar and piano type songs with incredible lyrics, but alot of it is kinda depressing, as he was a tortured soul (killed himself), but an absolutely phenomenal songwriter, definitley worth getting into, just beautiful

thanks, sounds indeed as if I'd like it! will get to listen to some :) I enjoy especially this kinda music on vinyl :D

The above mentioned Ray Lamontagne vinyl is an album which ALWAYS takes me back to the place I left. It pulls me up when I'm down and it pushes me back to the ground when I'm about to explode, love this ..... Just as you said above, it's almost like he's in your room when you close your eyes :)

i think you'll like his music, Yvonne. Smarchee's right...most of the music is very dark lyrically, but it is absolutely beautiful. plus, he could play the hell out of the guitar. there's a lot of debate about his death...some say murder, some say suicide...and it is still unsolved.

here are a couple of samples for you:

Hey mfc2006, out of curiosity, do you have the originals or reissues? I've found the reissues on KRS are great, but the XO and Figure 8 reissues on Plain are pretty dodgy (terrible, in the case of the latter)
    This is not for you...

The only reissue I have is Roman Candle. The rest are original pressings. But I've heard the Figure 8 reissue & it didn't sound bad at all (in my opinion).

  • Hm, I must just be unlucky with mine. The quiet stuff sounds great, but harder songs like Son of Sam are full of static and sound compressed. :(
Pretty cool that you have the originals, they don't tend to be that easy to come by these days. :)

Soccer Mom - You Are Not Going To Heaven 10" E.P. on Sweaters and Pearls Records.. I love finding tiny record companies that put out quality product.. I've never heard Soccer Mom until now.. Real heavy Dinosaur Jr influence coming through

I'm not saying this because of all the hype surrounding this but, Backspacer white is a real beauty, It's the first white vinyl record I've owned that is actually kind of a white swirl rather than pure white.
