I'd like to get a little more familiar with this band. My wife says she knows one of the band members. Any suggestions as to where to start?

my favourite is this album, Pork Soda is another good album too, except lots of weird lyrics and odd song structures, but Les Claypool on bass is worth the listen, he's incredible, what he can do with the bass
I agree about Pork Soda, killer album. I also love Fizzle Fry!!!

    Thanks to you both!

On my return voyage. Still in one piece! :D

I picked up the new Bloc Party EP - the new single 'Ratchet' I like muchos

Also Van Morrison 'Pay the Devil' - seems to have good reviews, so am looking forward to spinning that later on this week

Hey Smarchee, I have the clear version and both LPs are clear so sounds like there was a bit of a mix up with yours. Mind you the etching looks better on black IMO

well damn I want them both clear, I'd rather that then see the etching.

That was a $45 record, I wonder if I should ask if I could replace it, what do you think? Would you do that if you were in my shoes?

I think I might phone and talk to the manager and see if there are any options
I would definitely work on getting that switched. When you're paying $45 for a record, it should definitely not have one wrong disc! .... Do both discs have the same number on them?? Or did someone actually replace the clear with a black from a different pressing? I'm thinking it must be the latter, no? Like, kind of scam-like.

    Trust in old English Magick!

Today the mountain comes to me - surprise stall in local market with a couple of gems - Led Zep I French first edition Plum label, and Led Zep III plum label (cover is without the revolving insert - hence cheaper price)

I haggled him down to £25 for the two - the exact amount a new record seems to fetch these days. I have a good feeling about the sonics of these two, but I won't be able to try them until later in the week. (I'm on 'holiday').

    Peace and love brethren

Oh man.... thanks a lot. My almost uncontrollable desire to spend a bundle on a really good copy of Led Zeppelin III is again rearing its ugly head now. Can't hold off on that one much longer. Congrats! :)

Every man needs a 'best' copy of Led Zep III surely! ;)

Am looking forward to spinning this - It looks pretty decent - I have an early Led Zep II which I inherited from a friend's deceased Aunt - and it is definitely one of my top 5 records sound wise. I imagine it was bought on the day of release, and then sat unplayed and gathering dust for years and years!

In our defence - a healthy vinyl addiction is surely a damn sight better than some other habits!

And maybe some women need one too, like me. ;)

    I consider it a healthy obsession. :D

Everyone does! To be fair, they usually are male, so it's somewhat understandable.
When I go into record stores the men who work at them often assume I'm buying my records as gifts for my boyfriend. When I tell them it's for me, they then make comments about how I have good taste in music, like they're surprised. Now THAT is annoying. :x

I'm laughing to myself because in my mind being a male record collector seems a bit like being a sad anorak wearing Train Spotter, whereas being a female record collector seems more like being a sassy and mysterious groove chick!

For what it's worth, as a chick who is into vinyl, I dig male record collectors! :D

Any chick who is keeping her eye out for an early Plum edition of Led Zep III is alright by me ;)
