Don't have it to spin yet but should be arriving at the start of December.
Bob Dylan - 50th anniversary collection Volume 2 1963. Official Sony 6lp. Copyright extension release like last years 1962 CD which they pressed 100 of and subsequently reached $1400 on eBay.

There is a new European law which comes into play in 2014 which extends copyright from 50 years to 70 years, this means Dylans 1962 and 1963 recordings were vulnerable. These Sony releases are to protect the copyright rather than making money so they don't need to press many which equals highly collectable.

Watch out for fakes and unnoficial bootlegs not on the Sony label but using similar titles.

Low volume is a sign of a bad pressing with LB. The one I had originally had some minor pops and I wasn't gonna go for a replacement, but I read that others weren't having volumes issues with the few good copies. Not only was the replacement louder, but more detail was able to come through.

I played a replacement copy and it was a tad quiet, but not very. Like i played it at volume 44 instead of the usual 40 to get the volume I like (out of 75 i think). Not anything to be unhappy about, but still noticeable.

Well, I have listened to it 4 times, once baked, and am happy with the sound other than the record being quiet for a new release. I have to put this in perspective, because it is Pearl Jam, and I do tend to crank those up anyways, but I can compare them to the new Boards of Canada pressings I also received at the same time. New Vinyl loud is about a 40-42 number of my receiver, I had PJ up to 56 I think, and the BOD were loud at 40.

I guess if I ever get the chance to compare I'll notice if the sound is better at lower level with the pressing being louder. I can live with it.

My replacement copy of L.B. arrived today in a box so big I could almost fit my turn table into it and enough packaging to protect the crown jewels. I guess they're really serious about keeping us fan happy.

If you have never heard this album, do yourself a favour, this is a post-punk must from 1980 and a big influence on the Red Hot Chili Peppers musically. :)

That album is text-book material on post-punk. My Father's Son sounds ripped right out of Gang Of Four's playbook.

Reminds me of a somewhat odd but fascinating show where I saw R.E.M. around the time "Reckoning" came out and at the end of their set they invited a couple of the Gang of Four members to come on and play a few numbers with them. It was a bit like trying to infuse an excellent wine with fine machine oil.
