I do too. He should finish his career with the NYY.
Agreed obviously. I hope the yankees put a $500k bonus in there for pitching 2 innings.
How about for showing up at training camp with an appropriate BMI?
Good one. Have you ever tried stand up? With jokes like this, you may want to give it a go.
Hate to break it to you but Fatbastardia is not the answer the Yankees pitching staff needs. He should lay off of Big Pappi's Big Dominican Lunch.
I'll be here all week, thank you, thank you, thank you very much.
He's an $8 million potentially 6th starter, at best 5th.
Dude you cried like a school girl for the entire season. You can't really puff your chest now.
Great for the club house. Use him sparingly during the years so he can be utilized during the playoffs.
Or
Use him throughout the year to give other pitchers breaks?
I think use him throughout the year and give pitchers breaks. If they do what they need to do in terms of starting pitching, I have a tough time seeing him make a post season roster.

If u use 5 pitchers each game you'll need him in the PS and that is how the game is forming. Every playoff game is like an all-star game now.

How am I "puffing my chest?" I'm just pointing out the obvious. "Cried like a school girl?" Jeesh, Cliffy, get out more. Personally, I'd use him as middle relief or set up. Put in him as a starter and he gets hit.
Sonny Gray's career in pinstripes appears to be moving closer to its conclusion.
The New York Yankees have reportedly received multiple offers for the right-hander and are mulling them all over, according to SNY's Andy Martino.
Although it's not clear exactly how many firm offers they've received for Gray, Martino reports that approximately 11 teams have reached out. Earlier Friday, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported the Cincinnati Reds spoke with the Yankees about a Gray trade.
There's a potentially excellent fit in Cincinnati, where the Reds recently hired Derek Johnson - who was Gray's pitching coach at Vanderbilt University - as their own pitching coach. A reunion with Johnson could be what the 29-year-old needs to re-establish himself as an All-Star following a dismal stint in the Bronx.
Gray, who finished third in AL Cy Young voting in 2015, never appeared comfortable in New York after the Oakland Athletics traded him to the Yankees during the 2017 season. This year, he struggled mightily, posting a 4.90 ERA and a career-worst 1.50 WHIP across 130 1/3 innings. He worked primarily out of the bullpen for the final two months of this season and was left off the postseason roster.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman already acknowledged trying to find a trade for Gray, who's entering his final year of arbitration eligibility.
"We are going to move him if we get the right deal because I don't think it is going to work out in the Bronx," Cashman told Joel Sherman of the New York Post at last week's GM meetings. "I don't feel like we can go through the same exercise and expect different results."
Losing Sheffield hurts but there is nothing to not like about this trade. Would prefer kluber but would also prefer andujar, which no way you’re keeping to get kluber.
Assuming this likely means no machado? Corbin, relief and that’s it?

i don't think that's gonna stop them from trying for Machado or Kluber

This is fair and probably true. I just don’t trust Hal to go above the luxury tax
Please trade Sonny Gray to the Reds for a roll of quarters. You guys do not want him, he cannot truly want to stay there. He needs to go back to a spot where he can thrive again.
You now have Severino, The Big Maple, Tanaka, Corbin/FA, and CC. Hell, if you can get Kluber he slots at the top and you have 3 guys who are #1s and then Tanaka and CC.
Gray is just a throw away.
Trade him to Reds for....a bullpen piece like Cory Reed or a backup catcher or something.

Don't be greedy!
Yessir. I like it. Let's get it done. You guys eat the full $9 mil? Could still be a good piece. Had some decent splits. I'll take next to nothing though for a full salary dump.

I think they would take the salary. Owner said he is going to spend to make some improvements. The Reds have bats. They have some kids. They have some strong fielders. RP? Who the hell knows, when they are asked to pitch 6 innings a game last year they were really bad. What that means is that we need SP. I think he will sign 2-3 and the team will be competitive next year. Not going to win the division or anything but not have a joke of a rotation again. It is getting to the point where nobody is going to buy their shit or go to the games. Need to spend!
(The As probably make more sense given his history with them and that they were actually a pretty good team last year....but I think he could do well in Cincy given a number of factors.)

Makes a lot of sense. Landing spots in my mind are Red, Brewers (his college pitching coach is the pitching coach there or something) or yeah, the A's.
But yeah. Let's get it done. Should we give Cashman a call?

Reds hired the coach away from Brewers, he coached Gray at Vandy

They need to stay away from Machado. Andujar is the better option right now.
What kind of a clubhouse person is Manny? Would he fit in?

The Yankees players all seem to really like him. I think the options are along the lines of the below.
1. Paxton, Corbin/Happ (?), good relievers and keep Andujar 2. Paxton, Kluber, Macahdo, not top of the line relievers
Andjuar can always go to first and they can sign Machado or Machado can play short for the time being, but I think those two situations above are the most likely.
For this team at this point, I think 2 is a better option. Thoughts?

You get to tell people that you got to witness that.
Nothing concrete though, but it's heating up for a Grey trade.

Are Torres and Torreyes on the trading block?
Also shouldn't Abreu and Acevedo be ready to come up next year?
