Makes better sense for the Yankees to go after Machado. But I think they go after Harper as he's more their type as he doesn't hit for average, homers, walks and strikes out a lot
Is he good there? Don't u leave him at 2nd? Poncier said:

He was a SS until this year, right?
He came up as a SS but played 3B for the O's up until this season. They moved him back to short this year and the Dodgers also used him there in the absence of Seager.

Manny Machado is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in free agency when the market opens later this week, but it appears the New York Yankees are only moderately interested in his services.
The Yankees' baseball operations and scouting departments spent most of last week plotting an offseason strategy, and now the team is "lukewarm" on pursuing the four-time All-Star, according to major-league sources who spoke to SNY's Andy Martino.
Machado also admitted in an interview that hustling isn't his "cup of tea."
The Yankees need a shortstop because Didi Gregorius is expected to miss the first half of next season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm in October. However, signing Machado will likely be costly.
The 26-year-old starred for the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018, finishing the season with 37 home runs and 107 RBIs while posting a .905 OPS.
cliffy - don’t you need about 3/5ths of a starting rotation?
I don’t follow your boys closely, but you SP seems very underwhelming to me.

told you I hated that guy. it was playing in the background for a second and I thought it was Trump
Yeah, he's at tool. Dumb face
You guys are funny.
What Cora said was actually a shot at some Sox fans for panicking after they lost game-2 to the NYY.
More to the media than the fans. I hope that Dan Shaughnessy has a glorious throat bulge right now.
UMMMMMM, you and Halifax don't fall into the panicking category?!!?
I didn’t panic and don’t anymore. 2003 was the last time I panicked. I just didn’t think they had the arms to go the full distance. Cora, “the tool,” was masterful with the parts that he had and his players, particularly the pitching staff, did what they were asked. The result of that masterful managing and players doing as requested worked. Like you cliffy and the Yankees, I watch or listen to almost every Sox game and as September rolled around it seemed the arms were tired. To get through September and then completely dominate October? Nobody saw that coming the way it did.

Yeah, probably to the Media too.
Panicking days ended in 2004.
So, what starting pitchers do the NYY try to sign this off-season?
Who should they get to play SS? Machado? or get a 2nd baseman(Murphy? Dozier?) and have Torres play SS?
And, do they try and keep Britton & Robertson?
Addressing the panicking. I didn't use that word. You just said Cora was more referencing the sky is falling crowd after the loss. Halifax had the sky falling about 742 times from the 4 game sweep on!
And Halifax, I hear you man. I was with you and thought the Yanks had a good shot. I did not see the dominance you guys had coming.
I think Corbin might as well already be a Yankee. I think they bring CC back. I think there is chance they sign Happ though not sure I really want that (remember when I said at the deadline you guys got the right guy in Evoldi for less than the Yanks paid for Happ?).
I hate the whispers coming out of the Yankees brass saying they aren't going after either of the big guys. Better just be posturing. I did sour on Machado at lot this post season. I have always disliked him and it came back in full force. Harper's lefty bad is also very much needed in Yankee stadium, he just doesn't have a position.
What I would do...some combination of the below
Sign Corbin Sign CC I would love for them to dangle Andujar + for an ace, as in DeGrom, but I don't see that happening since his agent is now his boss If they trade Andujar, obviously sign Manny Move Andujar to first and sign Manny Play Manny at short until Didi gets back and go from there. Sign Harper, decline Gardner's option and have the 3 big guys rotate the corner outfield spots and DH. (THIS!)
I'd keep Torres at second for the next 15 years lol. I don't want to mess with him.
I'm all over the place...but basically spend friggen money and sign everyone!

I guess i miss-read your post because i thought you asked if me & Halifax fall into the panicking category?
Yeah, Machado has always been a punk, but he bought it to a new level during the post-season. Plus, he's a Dog(minus hustle). Harper's bat would be big in any Park especially in NYY Stadium.
I admit i didn't see D-Backs play last year, so no idea about Corbin(besides he's a lefty). Mets would be crazy to trade deGrom, but their the Mets so who knows?
They may not have much choice but to have 2 pitchers in ther mid-30's might not be good either. Be curious what they do with CC & Happ.
I know Gardner is not for a lot of money, but i've always thought he was a average player, at best, that most fans wouldn't know who he was if he didn't play on the NYY. They have him & Ellsbury(what the hell are they gonna do with him?) Frazier, Hicks, Judge & part time OF in Stanton. I guess they could trade someone(Hicks?) if they signed Harper. Keep Frazier in AAA?
I know if George was still around he would spend money and sign everyone.
Man, you are all over the place that i can't keep up.
machado is the most “sure thing” FA out there and he’s a complete dick.

So many options. Sign Harper and let it figures it’s self out. It always does. Ellsbury is never playing for the Yankees again. No question
did you see MLB’s rating of the worst FA signing for every team? yankees’ was pavano. ellsbury had to be in the running.
zito was the giants....but we forgive him for winning an elimination NLCS game and then beating verlander in the WS.

New York apparently wasn't impressed with Machado's antics during the postseason, which included questionable slides, sign stealing, a run-in with Jesus Aguilar of the Milwaukee Brewers, and what looked like a crotch shake.
Machado also admitted in an interview that hustling isn't his "cup of tea."
