NEW YORK YANKEES NOTES –
• The Yankees have won two straight games and seven of their last eight…have won 11 of their last 15 games at Yankee Stadium.

• The Yankees recorded their 11 comeback win of the season, fourth by at least three runs (had nine total all last year).

• The Yankees improved to 18-7 at home vs. Seattle since 2008…have won 12 of their last 17 overall against the Mariners.

• The Yankees are now 8-2 (.800) in one-run games this season (including a 5-1 mark at home)…have had 21 of their 39 games this season decided by two runs or less, including 11 of 13 games in May and 15 of the last 19 since 4/25.

• The Yankees’ lead-off batter reached base in six of eight innings (first inning and third through the seventh).
• The Yankees were held homerless for the third straight game, their longest homerless drought since a four-game stretch from 7/15-18/11.

• LHP CC Sabathia did not draw a decision, allowing 3R (2ER) in 6.1IP (10H, 2BB, 1HR)…is winless in his last three starts…was his 35 career 10K game and 16 as a Yankee (fourth-most in franchise history)…did not earn a win against the Mariners for the first time since 7/2/09, snapping a stretch of eight consecutive starts with a win…had not allowed an extra-base hit to a lefty this season entering tonight’s game (surrendered a
Seager double and Ibanez HR).

• LF Curtis Granderson (0-for-3) played in his first game of the season after he was returned from rehab and reinstated from the 15-day disabled list prior to the game…made his fourth career start in left field, first since 10/2/05 w/Detroit at Minnesota.

• 2B Robinson Cano (2-for-3) hit a game-tying two-run double in the seventh inning…was his 345
career double, surpassing Mickey Mantle (344)
for sole possession of eighth place on the Yankees’ all-time list…now has 740 career RBI, surpassing Tino Martinez (739) for sole possession of 19thplace on the Yankees’ all-time list.

• 1B Lyle Overbay (1-for-2) drove in the game-winning run on a seventh-inning sacrifice fly…was his fifth go-ahead RBI this season, tied with Vernon Wells for second-most on the team behind Travis Hafner’s six.

• RHP Shawn Kelley entered the game with runners on the corners and one out (0.2IP, 1K)…has struck out seven of his last nine batters faced…has fanned 25 batters in 15.1IP this season.

• Yankees relievers have not allowed a run over their last nine games (23.2 combined IP)… in the month of May, the Yankees bullpen has combined to post a 0.77 ERA (35.0IP, 3ER) with just 7BB and 36K.
• RHP Mariano Rivera (1.0IP, 1K) collected his 16th save of the season (in 16 chances over 39 team games)…marks the fewest number of team games he has needed to reach the mark (previous best was 16 saves in 45 team game in 2004)…was his 35th consecutive save at home, and is 17-for-17 at
home vs. Seattle in save opportunities in his career.

I just been checking the box scores and see 1-2 K's every game.. I thought being leadoff, and not a HR hitter, he'd strike out less. He leads the team in K's with 37. But Granderson is back, so he'll catch up soon

I don't really care about Gardner's Ks unless it is really hurting his OBP, especially as a leadoff hitter who probably bats with less runners on than anyone. He needs to get that closer to .350 but it isn't terrible and he should be able to do that.

Yeah, I like Gardner. I hope he can pick it up some. I figure it might take him a bit to assimilate back after a year off.

Yeah that was odd not sure what they're thinking here, anyway guessing Stewart is headed to the dl, doubtful but hopefully the yanks call up Murphy instead of Wilson.
