Great stuff on Brackman from Frankie Pilliere.

Over the past year I've been primarily negative on Brackman. He had yet to show me anything resembling the stuff he had in college and his command and mechanics were a mess to say the least. As of now, he still has a lot to learn about pitching, about how to read the bat, when to be more aggressive, among other things. Taken on its own you'd think he has a very long, difficult road ahead learning to be more consistent.

But given the progress I've seen from last year to spring training to now, I'd have to say that the righty has shown the ability to improve rapidly. He now shows solid command in the strike zone, a smooth and rather effortless over-the-top delivery, and the dynamic arsenal of a top-of-the-rotation starter. If given the time and patience to develop, he now has all the ingredients needed to make an elite big league starter. Again, there is much work to be done, but Brackman now is much more than just a guy you can dream on, and instead is a pitcher making outstanding progress.

The whole thing is a good read.

i was down on Brerckman when he was 2- 23 as a Yankee.

Thankfully i pre judged him wrongly and he seems to have come alive .

Oh and we are on YES today @ 1pm.

Gardner gets the day off which seems desperately needed but that means Granderson is in there against Lester, oh boy. Kearns in left, Thames at DH.

Coming into this weekend, a split would have been just fine with me. Now, I am feeling a little greedy. Bury 'em!

they'll survive plus they're facing four lefties in a row. After Lester, they get CJ Wilson and Cliff Lee followed by Bruce Chen.

Against Wilson, the certain players who might be part of a lefty rotation have the following against Wilson:

    Berkman 3-for-11
    Granderson 0-for-6
    Kearns 0-for-2
    Gardner 0-for-1
    Thames 2-for-6

Against Lee, the numbers are the following:

    Berkman 1-for-5
    Granderson 12-for-40
    Kearns 1-for-5
    Gardner 2-for-5
    Gardner 6-for-30.

Against Chen, the numbers are the following:

    Berkman 2-for-14
    Granderson 2-for-7
    Kearns 0-for-1
    Gardner 2-for-7
    Thames 4-for-12.

CJ wilson is on the verge of a collosal downfall. He has never thrown as many innings as he has already this year (he was a closer the last couple of years). He got bombed by the shitty mariners lineup in his last start. The Yanks are going to throw up a crooked number on him. He's gonna crash and burn

Yeah, this is a lot of the reason I am not all that worried about the Yanks facing the Rangers in a 7 game series. I would like to avoid 5 though.

I hear ya. they really need to change the round 1 playoff format. If I was commish that is first thing I'd change. 2nd would be abolishing the stupid DH

Yeah, he is off to a good start.

Hughes won't be going deep into the game.
