Surprised to see the Muse album sell that low in the US. It has crushed backspacer from all kinds of angles here in Europe.I will swallow poison0
-
Backspacer sales are really good compared to some other acts, and considering that the album was released to only a few sellers (Target, i-Tunes, Indies).
With some promo (TV shows, tour), it would have easily crossed the 500k mark by now.0 -

I'd actually be more surprised to see Muse sell more than PJ in the US. It's typical for a band from the UK to outsell an American band in Europe, especially in this genre.0 -

Hey William, any knowledge on Backspacers position from #69 last week, and copies sold in the week? Hitsdailydouble only do top 50.0

I noticed something interesting today. The new Muse album, which was released five days before "Backspacer," has sold 370,000 copies in the U.S. "Backspacer" has sold more than 450,000. Yet, Muse is talked about in some circles (ahem, KROQ) as if they are the biggest band in the world. I actually heard someone (ridiculously) claim that Muse could draw a million people to Coachella.I gather speed from you fucking with me.0

That's just KROQ on the joq. Make no mistake, Pearl Jam is a MUCH bigger act in the states. Muse has been played non-stop for the last 2 years, but I have failed to see them live up to the hype of their overseas reputation in crowd-response here. I like them, they're a bit too grandiose for my tastes (I feel the message gets lost), but they are a VERY good live act. This was "supposed" to be their take-over-the-world album, I just don't see it. That first single got old, fast imo.
And Coachella #'s? Rage didn't even draw 50,000 a day for their reunion a few years back. Paul McCartney was there last year, Roger Waters before that. I'll put the farm on this Coachella not being the greatest, numbers wise.0 -

It's another example of the NCIS Theory. You probably don't know anyone who watches "NCIS," yet it is the most-watched scripted program on television. You can't project based on your own acquaintances, which tend to be self-reinforcing.I gather speed from you fucking with me.0
