Another great Ed quote (paraphrase): "Being in Seattle means that we're lower and you're always higher." Hilarious. He totally ripped the Seattle crowds
What specifically did he say about the Seattle crowds? If that is true, that hurts my feelings and is pretty fucked up of him. :(
He just said that the Vancouver crowd had a lot more energy than Seattle. It's your basic rock star "it's great to be here in [inset city]" and "you're such a better crowd than [insert city]". I'm pretty sure the higher remark was just a weed reference.
everywhere i looked in the crowd last night, people were going nuts. behind the stage, in the uppers, lowers. dudes with no shirts dancing their guts out in the nosebleeds, other dudes singing every word arm in arm, putting eachother in headlocks, high fiving. chicks dancing, swaying with arms around one another. TONS of lighters for appropriate songs, beach ball being pass throughout the floor. as Ed said " it's friday night, and its on!!" there was just a magic in that place last night. everywhere you looked you could see it in peoples faces, and we fed off eachother, and got louder, the band in turn, fed of us, in turn taking us to higher heights. seriously. it sounds cheesy, but it was a circle of energy happening last night that was undeniable. we knew , the band new it. it was special.
sorry guys, just still reeling from last night...trying to convey what happened in there. it was the best ever.

Don't take it personal, I live in Vancouver and was in that Seattle crowd. I personally think the Seattle crowd was in awe that they are still bringing it after all these years...

He's a rock star, he doesn't mean the shit he says on stage. Like the 05 Gorge show where he says that they called up and canceled Vancouver. That didn't happen and it was just something to get the crowd more excited.

Let's face it, being able to drink beer in the arena helps, not to mention it was a Friday night. Enjoy Portland!
To get this thread back on track, it's great to see the crowd interaction. I loved how Eddie gave the wine out and also grabbed that Who cloth from the 10C'ers on here. My fave was when he picked out the youngster with the headphones and had the crowd pass her a pick. She had a permasmile on leaving the concert with her mom and will be a fan for life.
It's kinda hard not to take shit like that personal.
It kind of makes me not want to see them tonight... :(
The intensity of the crowd here last night was just soooooo fucking amped up!!! Its hard for the band not to feed off of that .....People just went fucking apeshit from beginning to end. Last night was the fourth show of the tour for me and it was by far the best!!!
Don't even think about not going ....You guys just need to crank it up tonight and Portland and I'm sure the band will treat you to something special!!!
Cheers

Don't take those Seattle comments personally ... I was there, and I sure don't. Remember, they were on Monday and Tuesday nights, compared to Vancouver's Friday night.
The Seattle crowd overall was indeed a bit tamer than I'm used to ... but that doesn't mean I (or certainly the folks in my row) rocked any less than normal. Hell, Seattle 2, I was pretty much out of my head.
Now, let's hear more Vancouver stories ...
"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91
"I don't believe in damn curses. Wake up the damn Bambino and have me face him. Maybe I'll drill him in the ass." --- Pedro Martinez
You know, fuck that. The Seattle crowds suck thread as it is feels like a big steaming pile of shit from folks here over the Seattle shows. And now it feels like Ed just dropped a log on the Seattle shows too. And to someone who truly thought they were something special, well that kind of sucks and detracts from them now that apparently Eddie didn't like us either. :(
Oh. Sorry to bring any negativity to the thread. I really wouldn't put too much thought into it. I think Ed was probably a bit sauced and was perhaps caught up in the moment. I don't have as much touring experience as some of you but everyone was on fire last night. The band, the crowd, even the beer dude.
Also, huge shout out to Ryan in row 14 and his gal who were awesome concert companions and brought my friend and I a beer. Great people.

Good lord it's not like he walked over to you and said "you are the worst person I've ever seen at one of our shows, how can you live with yourself, why don't you just do us all a favor and die". If the crowd in Seattle wasn't amped, which an overwhelming number of people seem to think is the case, and now it is obvious the band noticed it as well, then who cares? If you were rocking your flipping socks off, you did your part.
Seems a shame they seem to have forgotten they recently busted out brother. We must have been lucky on Europe as jeff kicked the ass of that live
Totally agree. I was hoping to hear Brother in Seattle. Hopefully I get to hear it in Philly. But what a show in Vancouver.

So jealous! First Vancouver show we've missed since the 90's. :( So happy for everyone there!
I'm totally with you on this one. I used to live in Victoria, so I'd seen every seattle/vancouver arena/amphitheatre show since 1998 (including the commodore).
I'm absolutely devistated I missed this one. The thing is if they hadn't scattered out the tour date announcements I probably would of gone. I booked the time off for seattle. Then when Vancouver was announced I could get those days off because they were now full.
The seattle shows were decent (especially the 2nd night), but all the songs I'd of wanted to hear were all played in vancouver. Indifference, No Way.. and they got Breath on top of that that! Sounds like a killer show.

Exactly, I might have been able to do Vancouver and Portland if they announced all the shows at the same time. But by the time Vancouver was announced I had already planned my trip and bought plane tickets. Its nice if they are able to announce shows in one certain geographical area at once.

I was kinda shocked when I read all that thing about the Seattle crowd too. Although I kinda think that in a place like Key Arena people are inclined to sit down rather than getting up and going crazy. And the fact that it was a weekday show didn't help the matter. That part about Vancouver being the REAL opener for the tour was the stingiest part though. Oh well...hopefully next time they're around (Remember Eddie, you said in a year or two!) we have a more amped up crowd. And maybe I'll actually be in the 10C area and not on the other side of the of the fucking stadium
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

Actually no one was sitting down in seattle, everyone was on their feet for the whole show (both of them), clapping, raising their arms. I thought the seattle crowd was pretty good (especially the 2nd night).
I think the hard part was because they had the extra musicians in seattle. They played similar encores both nights, none of which compared to the Vancouver encore. Would of been nice if they mixed it up a bit.
I think the seattle crowd was pretty good. I'm guessing Ed was just knocking seattle to get the Vancouver crowd motivated. I've seen him do it plenty of times. In seattle II '98 he was mocking the crowd from the night before etc.. I think its his thing.
If you could take the main set from seattle II, stick on the Vancouver encore.. that'd be a super sweet show
What a great show! We had prime seats, row 6 centre, the best I've ever had. We were right behind the little girl with the ear protectors that Eddie passed the pick to. Earlier in the show he'd looked right at her and pointed and then later in the same song made a face at her while he sang. She was grinning like crazy, and later after he passed her the pick, I could see her hands shaking as she held it out for people to see!
Eddie also threw his zippo to a guy in about the 3rd row who is paralyzed and rocked out from a seated position the whole night.
I thought there was no way our Vancouver show would live up to the Seattle shows, but it did and it was even better! Part of it may have been due to my much better seats (had row 22 floor at Seattle 1 and was 'backspaced' to section 113 seattle 2), but also the energy in the arena was awesome and we were surrounded by great people.
I thought it was so awesome to hear Breath and SOLAT one after the other, and In My Tree was a great opener! And every time I hear Got Some, I love it more! I wish they'd play it twice per show.
What specifically did he say about the Seattle crowds? If that is true, that kinda hurts my feelings and is pretty fucked up of him. :(

Nice throw with the scarf, Brandon!!! I was so happy for you!
Great show...nice stage set up...definitely gave you the "full circle" vibe!
Ripple in still water when there is no pebble tossed nor wind to blow...
why do people always write off being drunk as an excuse or a license to be an asshole? "oh I was drunk when I said that, forget it." "how can you be mad at me? I was drunk." so what? people act as if they're not responsible for the impaired state they get themselves into.
Just wanted (needed) to thank 10 Club for the awesome tickets. I won the lottery and was Row 2 behind "Restlesssoul" (have a safe trip to Portland). This is easily the best fan club every.
Also huge props to all the friendly PJ fans I met last night. I had conversations with at least a half dozen strangers (all of whom where 10 Club members). It really reinforced the sense of community that this band inspires.

What a great show, really enjoyed this setlist, and it was great to meet some of the tenclubbers at the preparty - that’s you Brenda, Ted, Kelly, Bruce, Levi and a tip of the hat to Brandon, Sam & co. in organising the event. well done!
I was at Seattle night 2 and I can’t say I preferred one over the other, they both had their merits!
As for the Seattle remarks, honestly I dunno maybe it was because of lack of beer that the Seattle crowd were a little less animated than the Vancouver lot, for the band to soak up anyhow.
